So, you don’t think anyone in this survey works labor? Well, that is stuffy of you. I do quite well as a delivery driver. Delivering higher quality merchandise than the cheap you sell here!
@davido i’m a housekeeper in boston part time and it’s august. i definitely sweat at my job. i bring clothes & socks to work in that i can peel off and stuff in a bag before i leave, and once in a blue moon i also take a cold shower. i still shower again when i get home but since i have to hit a grocery store and pick my partner up from work after i finish it helps me not be too disgusting to sit or stand next to for a little bit, heh.
I always thought it odd that my older brothers sweated like crazy when we played basketball…now I do the same…something changed from teenage years to over the hill years.
i sweat. for a long time when i was younger i never even owned shirts with sleeves because i’d just sweat through the armpits pretty much immediately. i had an array of tank tops and a fleet of zip up hoodies instead. and anything light colored is out of the question because it will be dingy & yellow in no time. (and no, it doesn’t matter the deodorant or lack thereof.) my father and my sister are the same. also doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold, or if i’m sitting still or walking for miles. of course i sweat more if i’m doing physical activity, but. (i always hated gym in school because we could change but there were no showers. thankfully at least a couple of quarters you’d get the teacher that would give you credit for the day for changing, so i’d get changed and just sit on the floor and do homework or whatever.) the one upside is the sweat didn’t stink, at least.
finally i found a deodorant combo that works for me (i use both a twist up and an aerosol) and i always wear powder, too. now i can wear clothes like a normal person which is pretty awesome. (still can’t wear light colored tops for long, but that’s okay because 99% of what i own is black.) it also occurs to me that this was around the time i got my skin under control as well, so perhaps going off hormonal birth control, drinking a ton more water and a ton less alcohol helps as well. i still sweat like a mofo if it’s humid and i’m doing physical activity but at least that’s normalish.
I had a coworker with extremely sweaty palms, which was awkward because our job involved handling wild birds. The poor things would be positively damp when she was done with them.
@currawong I just watched a show the other day about this. The best solution was basically a type of electro therapy. The lady would sit with her hands in a shallow pan of water that had a mat in the bottom connected to electrodes. She had seven sessions in a month, and it lasted about three weeks if she didn’t have any more sessions. The national health service in England paid for her to get the machine at home.
They don’t really know how it works, just that it does.
How did the birds deal with it? Lots of preening afterwards?
I think I sweat a normal amount, on my torso anyway. I wear anti perspirant and that controls my underarms. Instead I sweat a lot from my knees and shins. I don’t wear pants at work anymore because they can’t keep the building cool enough. Shorts are a must. A lot of people complain, but nothing is done about it.
In the mornings before the a.c. really kicks in, if I’m lifting a lot of heavy stuff or going up and down a ladder a million times, I’ll have sweat dripping down my legs.
Forget working out outside, just walking outside in the summer, I sweat.
I used to wear pants all the time. I think birth control probably had something to do with it.
I sweat an ideal amount. Not too little, not too much, not too scentlessly, not too stinkily. You might call me…the Baby Bear of sweatiness.

I avoid it whenever possible.

@davido I consider my labor efforts a “work out” personally. Sure I’m not on some type of gym equipment, but it has the same, if not better, effect

The only time I care to get sweaty is during sex. Otherwise I sparkle TMI?

@RiotDemon “I used to wear pants all the time. I think birth control probably had something to do with it.”
Keeping your pants on is indeed a good form of birth control.
@hems79 lol. I contemplated rewriting that paragraph because it sounded weird. At least I got a laugh out of it now.
@RiotDemon Wait until menopause.
Lots. I live in Florida and buy portable battery operated fans from Meh whenever they are sold.
