It's too much, most of the time. First time I set it up, I was laughing too hard to get any work done, because it seemed like a ridiculous amount of space.
@smyle I'm holding out for one that has display port (and a reasonable price). Most have HDMI inputs only and will do 60Hz in HD but only 30Hz for 4K. If it is just work, non-video stuff, then it might be fine for you, but it was a concern I came across when looking.
@atannir I saw that, and probably should have mentioned it. I manage a linux cluster and spend most of my days in front of multiple terminal sessions. 30Hz is fine for my case.
Normally two, a 27 and a 24. The 24 worked beautifully for 7 years, but some capacitors blew in it so I'm off to the store right now to get replacements and solder to see if I can fix it. If I fail, I'll have to buy a new one--a 27 or larger, certainly. Having only one monitor is rather dark and horrible; I feel like such a console peasant. wilts dramatically onto her chaise longue
Those of you who are rich enough to sport a dozen 4K displays should just buy an IMAX theater and read your emails in all their glory on the 24 meter screen.
One each on two PowerMac 4G - left and right. A 21 in. HDTV connected to a MacBook Pro 17 in centered above. Four screens total. The big problem is having three keyboards side-by-side.
One. Well, one on my laptop and one on my tablet and one on my phone and one on my other tablet and one on my TV.
Long ago I bought offa Woot one of those tiny USB monitors thinking it would solve a problem, although I wasn't sure what problem that would be. It turned out the MacBook Pro's lack of USB ports is more of a problem than anything I was missing from lack of screen space.
I thought the Monitor was a submarine that was used in the War of Northern Agression
@pmacostello It was actually a lizard -- a lizard submarine.
@pmacostello That would the war of Southern Aggression. The South seceded, and at Fort Sumter, shot first.
You got that right@WINTERMUTE
I learned something @hisgrossness
I thought a monitor was a kind of UN inspector.
Just the one.
Bad guy in Inspector Gadget was Dr. Claw... C'mon.
And points deducted for not mentioning The Matrix.
Also, I have two 24" monitors at work, but my co-worker rocks 5 monitors on his desk. It's rather obnoxious.
@BillLehecka I have a coworker with seven (on multiple computers). He has the gall to bitch about his cube being warm all the time. Super obnoxious.
With this purchase, ill be going from 2 to 3....finally I can play first person games without the center of the screen being a bezel :D
@kyle170 I have one monitor under two others, in an inverted L formation. Don't have to twist my head left and right as much that way.
@ardgedee pics plz, so I can properly understand this formation
@kyle170 Sorry, can't take a photo. This would be clearer anyway.

@kyle170 I actually prefer 3 monitors for MMORPG. Nowadays, there're too many actions bars floating on the screen. Oh, and status windows, too. lol
Seriously thinking about replacing my work monitor with a 35" 4k HDTV. The price is getting to be reasonable on those.

Two monitors on the work pc, one on the work mac, and a tablet propped up for music/podcasts. If only my video card would support more...

@goldenthorn
Yeah, I can't go back to these monitor thingies. 42' TV from my couch. Wireless setup. Perfect.
@twofivefive forget the couch. I'm doing a 32" 1080p at desk length :}
@cliffmeh Mine is actually just 4ft away. It's glorious! You feel like your in the game.

@GilHero Have you tried using Teleport or Synergy?
