I like my coffee hot, for as long as possible. So, I prime my stainless steel insulated mug with the hottest water possible for at least five minutes while I prepare the coffee. Once the coffee is finished, I quickly dump out the hot water, put the coffee in the mug, and then put on the lid. I have a Contigo mug with the Autoseal lid so I don't need to take the lid off and it quickly seals once I take a sip. It stays pretty hot for a while.
If I go to a coffee shop, the mug is filled with hot water and I tell them not to dump out the water until they are ready to make my drink.
Any temperature. I used to leave a cup out before I went to sleep so I could make it through the five minutes it took to brew the morning batch. That changed when one day I took my first sip and something bumped my upper lip, a mouse apparently had a coffee jones and decided to drown in the stuff.
@connorbush Great comment, I just laughed very loudly at work. Coworkers wanted to know what was so funny. I quickly closed the window and very nervously said, "NEVERMIND."
Warm enough to still be steamy but cool enough to drink in big gulps. I usually sip one cup while I'm getting ready in the morning and set another one out to cool down so I can chug it before I head out the door.
@rhrgrt You combine tea and coffee ? : P blech. Well congratulations for being in your own category, that no one else wants to be in. You can be the best for just that. You can also pee more than the rest of us for all that consumption.
@ceagee Oh no, now I look uncool because of a comment I made on the internet. Too late to clarify now, I'll never be cool again. Gotta turn in my ray-bans... shit...
@Ignorant Coffee Heath Bar crunch was probably my first B&J flavor I ever tried. It's still my favorite. Though the cinnamon bun has given it a run for its money.
@hollboll@ignorant One of the best gustatory experiences I have ever had was at the end of a beer tasting (sigh, back when I could drink regular beer), we'd migrated up from the light pissy stuff and finished with beer floats, which consisted of coffee ice cream in a dark chocolate stout. Oh my God, it was amazing. You should try it. I imagine that the quality of both the beer and the coffee contributes. I'd bet B&J is good (I think we had Häagen-Dazs and I'm pretty sure this was the stout ).
@kevlar51 those are both my go to flavors, unless they have a new flavor to try. Although all the new flavors are that core bullshit that I'm not a fan of. Need to get one of these to properly mix up those core flavors.
@Ignorant core is nonsense. it's an idea that sounds great on paper, but no one there must have tested it. it just doesn't work anywhere near as well as you'd think it would. and now that it's gone to market they're stubbornly sticking to it.
My wife will make a cup at the highest temp on the keurig and then immediately put that cup in the microwave until the coffee reaches a plasma-like state. I, on the other hand, have to let mine cool until just north of warm.
I went with the warmish. When it comes out of my coffee machine at home, it's fine. When I get it from a coffee shop, it's lava and my mouth will be full of blisters if I don't let it sit with the lid off for 10 mins. I drink my coffee black, so adding cream isn't a top option for me.
It really sucks if I get it when I'm driving, because I don't want to take the lid off and let it slosh all over the place.
1) When I go to Charbucks: Trenta iced, 3 pumps classic, a moderate amount of heavy cream ("heavy" is the type and not the amount). And a venti cup of ice. The trenta almost fits in my 24 oz Bubba. 2) At work and at home: hot, and I'll drink it as it cools even to the point of pouring it over ice in the afternoon. 3) @christinewas got us hooked on coffee slushes, so when she's in town, we go to a place and get those once or twice or thrice.
So pretty much any temperature. With this is best:
This also works:
Or one of these:
Or these:
I'm thinking maybe that the presence of chocolate is far more important to me than the temperature of the coffee. Though I will drink coffee without it.
@compunaut@ceagee I do actually love coffee now. The coffee slushies were totally @christinewas' fault (she's already been goat, btw). But my wife gets most of the blame; I'll pretty much do anything she says and she really wanted me to drink coffee. I made it to the latter stages of my life without getting hooked on coffee, but I meet this woman and now I'm a lost cause. Sigh. Worth it.
Back in my barista days, I had a customer who ordered her drinks lukewarm, and acted like she hated it. When I asked her about it, she explained that she had read that calories were a unit of heat. I got in a LOT of trouble for sharing that one on Not Always Right.
Coffee is for grown-ups . . .
I like my coffee crisp!
(good content)

@cercopithecoid gross
Like my women: Ground up and in the freezer.
@connorbush Great comment, I just laughed very loudly at work. Coworkers wanted to know what was so funny. I quickly closed the window and very nervously said, "NEVERMIND."
@hems79 glad to be of service :-)

I like my coffee like my women; really hot and in my lap. Oh, wait a minute...
I don't like coffee at any temperature. Tea is much more civilized.
@ceagee But see, I like both coffee and tea. I drink a combined total of 3 liters or so a day. This makes me better than both you and everyone else.
@rhrgrt You combine tea and coffee ? : P blech. Well congratulations for being in your own category, that no one else wants to be in. You can be the best for just that. You can also pee more than the rest of us for all that consumption.
@rhrgrt In prison thay call that a yack. It gives you a very small high to mix different caffines. Like pop and coffee or coffee and tea.
@ceagee Oh no, now I look uncool because of a comment I made on the internet.
Too late to clarify now, I'll never be cool again. Gotta turn in my ray-bans... shit...
@rhrgrt except this is meh and no one here is cool. We're ok though, so go ahead keep your ray bans
@ceagee
I love both coffee & tea, but I don't combine them.
Black, like my men.
How spicy do you like your Chang sauce?
@Ignorant and

@joelmw that sounds amazing.

@kevlar51 Did you notice that it's no longer "Heath bar crunch"?
http://www.brandeating.com/2014/03/news-ben-and-jerrys-heath-bar-crunch-is-now-toffee-bar-crunch.html
@lisaviolet yeah, but I'm stuck in my ways. @ignorant's image shows the current version
@lisaviolet @kevlar51 Took me a few pints to get use to the taste of the new bars.
@Ignorant @lisaviolet oh let's be clear. I can't eat any of this stuff anymore.
201.5 °F
@thismyusername Yeah, meh, sell these:
Like my women. Cold, black, and with pubes.
http://shirt.woot.com/offers/soft-kitty-hot-coffee
I like mine in quantities greater than 16 ozes
My wife will make a cup at the highest temp on the keurig and then immediately put that cup in the microwave until the coffee reaches a plasma-like state. I, on the other hand, have to let mine cool until just north of warm.
Only hot drink I enjoy is hot cocoa. Just above lukewarm; my tongue burns easily
How I feel when people say they don't drink coffee:
Like my women: old and bitter.
So strong that the spoon dissolves as I try to stir in just a small amount of sugar.
No hotter than 92°C or you're going to leach your tannins which produces bitterness.
@zachdecker I was about to post this:

@kevlar51
You might ask the coffee place to throw a few ice cubes into the cup. Some will, happily.
I like my coffee the way I like my women: hot and full of liquor.

@joelmw Are you blaming @christinewas for your coffee slushie addiction? Is this a nomination for next goat?
@joelmw Skip the coffee and stick with the chocolate.
@compunaut @ceagee I do actually love coffee now. The coffee slushies were totally @christinewas' fault (she's already been goat, btw). At Starbux, trente iced coffee, no syrup, no cream, no sweetener, no flavoring, no ice. Lasts me quite a while.
Espresso is perfect, freshly served and sipped. Other coffees, i usually let them cool a bit and drink them over time.
Made by someone else.
Like my women. Old and cold.
I like it best very hot or ice cold, but really I drink it however it happens to be.
