@thismyusername usually, my commute is only 10 minutes each way, so i just listen to some news. since i was at a client site this week, my commute is about 30 minutes, so i happened upon this song while flipping through channels. i really wish my radio had a rewind button. i would have listened to it the whole way.
@OldCatLady Thanks for that! I am thrilled when I find that a band is even better live, and I dare say that's true about these guys. I am unashamedly mesmerized by him. Despite all the lovely men we've posted, strange charm always wins.
@OldCatLady couple small nit-picky things about your post, unrelated to the song/band/performance/etc.. the "Jimmy Fallon Show" IS the Tonight Show. Stephen Colbert is the host of CBS's "The Late Show", or More accurately "The Late Show, with Stephen Colbert"(Stephen's never been one for Subtlety in branding...) having replaced David Letterman.
I listen to the Spectrum on XM and they play it often, it's a great sing along. He's got some other good songs too that I hadn't heard until yesterday morning, they had a replay on during my ride to work of a NY concert.
This song has been in HEAVY play for me since I first heard it. My 9 year old now hums along.
@carl669 yea I am going to say because you don't listen to modern rock radio.
@jaremelz I saw them on the Jimmy Fallon show, their TV debut, and it fired me up. I bought their new album as soon as it came out. Last night they were on the Tonight Show (Stephen Colbert) with a new single. Glad to hear there's another fan. Here's the Jimmy Fallon clip. http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/video/nathaniel-rateliff-the-night-sweats-sob/2888764

@earlyre You're right. At least I got the correct Jimmy.
And every-time I hear it I then get this song in my brain...
and this one...
Love love this tune/singer/band
Thanks for that.

Saw this performed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a couple months back. Had never heard it before, and enjoyed it.
I haven't heard of him either but I love it! Wish I was near Meh - he'll be touring through Texas next week.
This plays all of the time on alt987 LA.Also, I played it on https://www.dubtrack.fm/join/sub-optimal-music last week so if you were there--you heard it.
@connorbush Where are you at today?
@Bogie I'm there. I do not see you!
@connorbush YES this is how I discovered the song. Heavy rotation during the Woody show.
@Collin1000 I'm very into the woody show. Menace is my boy! YOU KNOW
I hear it all the time on WXRT in Chicago. Awesome song that I added to my music library as soon as I first heard it.
Their performance (I Need Never Get Old) last night starts about 37:32 here; sorry I can't clip it better.

Their album is self-titled, 'Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats', and it came out Aug 1.
Very Blues Brothers. And I'm not saying this because they are singing in a prison.
@jml326 Your right. Not sure if its the wind instruments or just the way he dances in place by the mic.
I like these guys. They have 4 out right now. They are Finnish.
@jml326 I'd hate to be Finnish before I even started . . .
@Pavlov

@jml326 I like their cover of The Trooper
For some reason it reminds me of Seasick Steve:
@MrGlass I .... LOVE Seasick Steve.
@connorbush He's amazing. Its a real shame he isn't popular in America.
@MrGlass I just found out Seasick Steve was in his 70s. That's crazy.
Did everybody else already know that?
He's still lookin' pretty good for a haggard old musician.
ETA: Sources indicate he's possibly an older Les Claypool who's come back in time.
@Chops yes. well aware. he has played on or produced so many musicians we know and love--such a life.
In a similar vein, there's this song:
@dashcloud this is my fav kongos song :)
In similar vein, there's this song:
@carl669 Brother, I do believe that the Lord gave you a word for me. Bless you for sharing it.
But there's a stretch in there that reminds me of a bit from A Scanner Darkly.
