Normal Americans used to call it a "line." I think "queue" snuck in from computer programmers. We certainly didn't pick it from the Brits. Otherwise we'd be saying "lift," "bonnet," and "crisps" too.
@zdunklee If I "stand on line" it would be because I was trying to say "stand on the line" but I don't words too good. All of this assuming there was some kind of physical painted or taped line I was supposed to be standing directly on. I don't normally stand online, I sit in my chair.
Ha! I use this word all the time and no one has a clue wtf I'm talking about- and yes, I do it specifically in the british sense, cuz I'm weird like that.
Nearly everyone I know spells it incorrectly (usually "que" or "cue") and it drives me nuts. I have literally even seen one person spell it simply "q" and thought that was correct.
Correctly.
@Thumperchick Right? Since when is there a choice of how things are spelled?
@Thumperchick It's not like there's a British vs. American version, either. Good lord.
@Thumperchick I clicked on the wrong button (hangs head in shame)
Is this a poll, or a quiz? Because there's only 1 right answer...
@spitfire6006006 I DONT EVEN GO HERE!
@spitfire6006006 Maybe this was a controversial debate at Meh HQ? I'm sure there will be at least one "I told you so" uttered.
@spitfire6006006 Asking the tough questions!
Queue...I don't have the balls to spell it any other way
@tightwad
Moi, je prefere l'utilization du mot dans une sense jeune -- pseudo Sade 101 / Bataille-esque -- comme "un queue branlé"... hehehehe... ;-P
@jqubed I love that you can see the original Marvin in that clip.

@SSteve want to really start a debate? Do you stand "in line" or "on line".
Sorry for this one.

@zdunklee There's no reason for debate. It's "in line".
I thought it sounds like chee
I don't spell it, I just get in line and wait my turn.
I spell it: ell eye inn eee space you pea
( Because - does anyone try to "cut in queue" and does someone then yell "Get in queue, you excretory opening!" ?)

Let's talk about the word, "chic." It's pronounced like "sheik," not "chick" people! It's one of those little things that bugs the shit out of me.
@Teripie I have never met anyone who pronounced it "chick"...
I read the question as how do I pronounce it, so I apologize for voting "cue" before I read it fully. It's queue.
80% of the letters in the word queue are silent.
