I know a few people with ulcerative colitis, and it’s bad enough that if you had it you’d probably be willing to try something that gross-sounding yourself.
I am not even going to tell you how I know about this, but I do.
FMT is most commonly used when patients have C-Diff (Clostridium difficile). Right now it is covered under medicare, but it is being used to the point that medicare will soon take a closer look. There are other options, but not covered

Y can also make up to $13,000 a year if you are one of the lucky candidates accepted (lots of screening) in this process. But you better live in Massachusetts.
p.s. great gif for this thread.
damn, I did not get to fix the typos. Sorry, I was cutting and pasting.
Can you imagine the ad for it? I hear this guy is available as spokescolon –
I don’t have ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s or IBS, but I do have celiac disease. I’d totally take an FMT just to help with my symptoms, let alone any of those others–for which the immediate symptoms (if not necessarily the longterm) seem far worse. So, yeah, I doubt they had any trouble at all.
In fact, if I could have been put under and had medical professionals perform an FMT instead of the multiple, ahem, samples I’ve had to personally collect from my own fecal matter, I’d have done that in a heartbeat. I’m not sure how the FMT procedure goes or if there’s even sedation; and on one level, I don’t even know how relevant my remark is; I’m just saying that for ewww factor, I know what grosses me out more.
I just googled. It looks like they do it during a colonoscopy. They use the wonder drug with colonoscopies, so I’m totally down for that. Where do I sign up?
And if you are going to do this as the recipient you want to ask for a sample from a skinny donor as they have found that when it is from an overweight donor you gain a bunch of weight. Hmm a new diet “pill”?
I’m still waiting for my fuko.
UC sufferer here… I have read up on it… not ready to try it, yet… or medical marijuana, legal in our state for the disease. However, I think marijuana is cheaper than the colitis drugs!!!
