Home tonight? Feel like watching a classic movie with tons of commercials added?
8If you get the Movies! network, they’re showing A Face In The Crowd at 9:35 pm central. I’m super-psyched because I’ve only seen it once and loved it (Andy Griffith, but EVIL!).

Do you get this channel?

This seems like a place to mention this bizarre thing:
https://allthestreams.fm
Where you can watch Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, HBONow, Prime Video, and Showtime for free, as long as you’re fine with whatever they picked (and…maybe you can text requests, but I haven’t tried that), at least until it gets shut down which I don’t really know how that hasn’t happened yet.
@dave Wow. How has that not yet become the victim of a harshly worded cease and desist letter from Big TV’s litigators?
@dave @ruouttaurmind It’s annoying enough it might make me pay for the channels/services.

@dave Thanks for that- I will prolly use it all the time!
I feel like this would be a good place to mention:
https://www.justwatch.com/
it searches all the streaming and store services to tell you what show/movies are available for streaming and or purchase. while it does miss a few, it has been pretty useful for the last few years when I go trying to find a show or movie I want to watch.
For example I tossed “A face in the crowd” in and learned I can’t stream it (included or free) anywhere right now, but lots of places to rent or buy it:
ok then I am done now.
@thismyusername My TiVo searches all the channels (apps) I’ve got setup just fine. And then my PlexPass adds a bunch more. I think Roku has something similar. I don’t need to know something is available from a service I don’t have.
@mike808 @thismyusername - Yup. Roku has voice search. Just say the name of the movie or show you want to watch and it returns options.
@thismyusername, this is similar to what Yidio.com does as well. I’ve found it to be very solid. (But I watch very little live tv anymore.)
@thismyusername THI SMY! You’re famous!
Have you gotten to meet Irk after he read your question? I’m a big fan.
@mike808 @kdemo
I hear ya, that is why you can “select” whatever services you have access to on the websites search engine. The filters are very handy as well. I was just passing it on for those times you are searching.
I agree rokus in app searches have gotten better… but if you depend on it (or amazons fire tv version or apple tvs version etc) you are likely missing a lot (most of the apps have failed to ‘integrate’ themselves in well so far but more join daily).
@stinks no, sadly I didn’t get to meet Irk before he was shredded so mercilessly to be made into bags.
@kdemo @mike808 @thismyusername Google search actually his this as well. When you are looking up a show there is a “watch” tab option and gives you which services have it and what price they have it for if not free. You can select which services you subscribe to so it shows at the top of the list. I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I’ve found some things that way.
@thismyusername Thanks for this too- I will prolly use it a lot!
@haydesigner @RiotDemon thanks, added to my toolbox when searching for a specific title!
@PhysAssist may you find the long elusive show you desire included in a subscription
@thismyusername Tanks again!

Stupid update: channel not coming in, all permutations of 32 in my market have disappeared from my set. Will be it back in time for Saturday’s 9:25 pm showing? The future is uncertain. Does my library have the blu-ray? Yes, but I wanted to watch it ON BROADCAST TELEVISION WITH LOTS OF COMMERCIALS.
@mossygreen Record and run it through MCEBuddy and problem solved.
@mossygreen Well that sucks.
@mike808 Honestly, the library blu-ray is probably a better choice at that point. @Kidsandliz It sure does!
@mossygreen You could always re-scan your TV set to see if the channel is picked up again.
@dashcloud @mossygreen
its on 13.3 KCOP-DT3 later on for snyone in LA that can pick it up… imdb.com had it listed.
@dashcloud Trust me, I spent about 20 minutes periodically rescanning. I live at the bottom of a hill and there are trees, and while digital helped a lot we’ve always had crappy reception. I don’t know what’s going on, the weather is clear and the channel was fine all morning. I mean, it’s probably because of my hubris in ASSUMING I’d be able to watch the show and PUBLICLY POSTING ABOUT IT.
@dashcloud @mossygreen Just last week I encountered a situation where the local ABC affiliate station could be viewed OK using my TVs’ tuners, but my DVR’s tuners (two different mfg.) produced pixelation and freezing (only on that channel - the others were fine).
So I looked on the station’s website and found I could send a message to their engineering department. I described the situation and they responded within an hour, saying that they had noticed a problem with their signal, made adjustments and it should be OK now. I read the response a few hours later, checked, and sure enough - the issue was fixed. I was amazed by the quick and professional response. YMMV
@dashcloud @macromeh @mossygreen
You flew to closely to the sun. But know you’ve alerted me to a new OTA channel I need to try to find.
@dashcloud @macromeh @therealjrn People who know me well know that one of my greatest passions is OTA television, so this is more comforting than you may realize.
@macromeh @mossygreen @therealjrn Not sure if you’re interested in a DVR for your OTA shows, but SiliconDust has some great options: https://www.silicondust.com/product/hdhomerun-scribe-duo/
Movies! channel has reappeared and is showing a Mickey Rooney film noir? Half over, but looks like a great cast–Drive A Crooked Road
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive_a_Crooked_Road
Less stupid update: Movies! channel still exists on my tv, now CBS has disappeared. I’m OK with this.
If you’re not going to watch 4D Man on Svengoolie in two minutes, Movies! is showing Rebel Without a Cause at the same time.
Edit: I was totally going to watch 4D Man, but I forgot the opening credits of Rebel Without a Cause are just James Dean playing with a cymbal monkey. Now I don’t know what to do!
@mossygreen 4D Man for me!
@therealjrn HE PUT HIS HAND THROUGH THE MAILBOX! I LOVE THIS PART!
@mossygreen AND FREE APPLES!
@therealjrn I don’t know, I feel like we all pay for his apples by higher prices at the register. HE MUST BE STOPPED.
@mossygreen @therealjrn I need to hook up my antenna to watch this next week.
@mossygreen Yay! He was stopped? He says HE FEELS FINE. The end?
@mossygreen @sammydog01 I think it’s something Dracuala next week
@sammydog01 @therealjrn It’s the original Hammer Dracula w/Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee!
It’s not going to be as good as 4D Man because it won’t have a jazzy soundtrack and two men who look nothing alike playing brothers.
@mossygreen @sammydog01 That soundtrack was pretty hep. And that Linda? What a trollop.
@sammydog01 @therealjrn YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH. ADAM WEST SAID LEE MERIWETHER WAS A LADY.
But yeah, that soundtrack! Like a higher class The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.
Five minutes to A Face In The Crowd and it’s still coming in!
@mossygreen I’m back over to Live PD to see what’s goin’ on out there.
@therealjrn It’s a free country, my friend. But you’ll be missing out on a lot of close-ups of Andy Griffith laughing maniacally.
EVERYBODY, ANDY GRIFFITH IS ABOUT TO BREAK PATRICIA NEAL’S HEART BY RUNNING OFF TO MEXICO FOR A QUICKIE DIVORCE FROM HIS FIRST WIFE BUT RETURNING MARRIED TO TEENAGE DRUM MAJORETTE LEE REMICK. AND YOU’RE ALL MISSING IT.
