hi
2Duck is the common name for numerous species of waterfowl in the family Anatidae. Ducks are generally smaller and shorter-necked than swans and geese, which are members of the same family. Divided among several subfamilies, they are a form taxon; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species), since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.
Ducks are sometimes confused with several types of unrelated water birds with similar forms, such as loons or divers, grebes, gallinules and coots.

@mediocrebot That reminds me a lot of Escher art, particularly this one:
Duck, duck…
@ohcoasterfreak
Swan Swan … Duck!
@ohcoasterfreak goose
@f00l @Cerridwyn @ohcoasterfreak
Gray duck!
Taking odds on this being a spam bot lost online and possibly related to a duck.
@ExtraMedium Yep. The two paragraphs are lifted directly from Wikipedia. And “hi” as a subject? Not even a well-written bot.
@werehatrack I just think it’s cool that this bot informed me that we’ve had at least 11 previous uses of “hi” as a post topic.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ExtraMedium joined 2 hours ago is the main hint.
Filmed these two ducks in my front yard a couple days ago.
@cengland0 Not sure that’s consensual.
But, there was no duck tape involved.
@phendrick Duck tape, LOL.
@cengland0 @phendrick The lack of noise indicates to me that it’s either consensual, or there’s a long history of dominance/abuse in that relationship to the point that she no longer fights against it.
But maybe Muscovy ducks are just into bondage and stuff? In their Wikipedia gallery there is a picture captioned “Mating in water; the large drake entirely submerges the smaller hen.” Certainly not the sort of behavior I choose or condone.
@xobzoo Muskovy ducks are mute ducks so they don’t quack like mallards. The most I’ve heard from them is a hiss or huffing sound.
In this particular instance, she was very willing to participate. Sometimes the female runs or flys away and the male has to chase her down. She stood still during the courtship and made no attempt to get away. I missed the courtship in the video because I was distracted with a bunch of white ibis that came flocking in my yard at the same time.
@cengland0 @xobzoo Wow, you’re in a bird paradise there!
Now I am craving duck tacos from Red Mesa Cantina or Panang duck curry from Chiang Mai Thai.
A muskovy duck in my bird bath.
@cengland0 You’re gonna need a bigger birdbath.
@ShotgunX “That was entertaining at the end.”
