worked (12 hrs) 1900 to 0700 overnight
back now for (8 hrs) 1500 to 2300
then back tomorrow for (16hrs) 1500 to 0700
God I love holidays! And jobs that are 24/7/365.25.
And being short-handed (missing 5 nurses in a 10 member staff)…LOTS of OT and PRN hours available…
I’m getting to old for this shit…
@chienfou
could be
we have seen CC transport nurses make the switch, some hated it and went back, others loved it and stayed.
The one I know fairly well says, one day, you just decide you have seen TOO much (not too much, cause well you see that every day, but something that says to you, it’s time to make a change. for her it was a pet monkey mauling, let’s not go any further).
It’s a different pace, you get to actually know your patients. I know when I went per diem I discovered I’d found home, and quit the hospital and never looked back (not that I don’t work for them again now, LOL, but in Home Health)
small community hospital ER is primary care for lots of the locals
inertia (I’ve been here 25 years)
every day is different
small community hospital ER means I already know lots of my patients (and am now seeing their kids…and in some cases grandkids)
trying to keep the lights on by sticking it out while we ride out the shifting landscape of medical services (I want to have a hospital in our small town so I don’t have to take my geriatric mom 35 miles if she needs an ER one day)
I have the utmost respect for HH and Hospice nurses, just not sure it’s a good fit for me personally. Maybe when I get closer to full retirement if there is still a HH provider locally I will look into it as a PRN slot.
@DrunkCat I don’t know… but I hope we find them soon so I will have someone to take care of me when I am broken down from all this work!
Lots of people start out in nursing, then find out you have to deal with sick people. Not sure what they were expecting but evidently this isn’t it…
I love what I do, and am compensated well enough to be comfortable and over the 25+ years have worked 7 on, 7 off with 8 hours shifts, so was essentially semi-retired since 40… Unfortunately we are again in a ‘short supply’ cycle for nurses, so I feel compelled to work a bunch, which is good for the bank and AmEx company. And in reality if I wanted to not be a ‘team-player’ I could tell them I was doing my 7/7 only and they could shove the OT… only trouble is I like my co-workers and that would leave them twisting in the wind.
I’m at the doctor, waiting for a check-up.
I’ll let you know.
@RiotDemon hope you got good news at discharge.
@chienfou med dosage changed and some bloodwork ordered. Follow up in another three months.
@RiotDemon That’s good. Better living thru chemistry…!
@chienfou @RiotDemon I’m glad your discharge situation is ok.
@chienfou @RiotDemon @therealjrn haha… started to say the same thing and saw this.
@chienfou @lseeber @RiotDemon
@RiotDemon Hoping the dosage change is in a good direction.
@DrunkCat I hope so too.
Not bad, had a burger and a dog for lunch. How’re you on this fine Independence Day Eve?
@Targaryen I watched him. He ate a schnauzer.
@ChadP I was hungry, don’t judge me.
@Targaryen Was re/introducing coworkers to the wonderful game of Go. Saw Hook yesterday and realized how nightmarish that universe is.
Pretty good. Getting ready to shut down for the weekend!!
@tinamarie1974 Checking out mentally of all responsibility was always the best plan for a good time,
Howdy, been working on deposits. Better than writing checks.
/youtube hey. say hello to your mother for me
@cinoclav This reminds me…why do people keep trying to harsh the mellow of horses?
Still at work here. “Working.”

@Cerridwyn I guess I have several reasons
I have the utmost respect for HH and Hospice nurses, just not sure it’s a good fit for me personally. Maybe when I get closer to full retirement if there is still a HH provider locally I will look into it as a PRN slot.
@chienfou In college almost every person I knew was getting into nursing, where did they all go?
@DrunkCat I don’t know… but I hope we find them soon so I will have someone to take care of me when I am broken down from all this work!

Otherwise mostly ok. Maybe.
Hello. Pretty good day until the mosquitos came to dine.
What about you?
@speediedelivery
@mike808
I been better.
I been worse.
Right now I’m in Cle Elum.
Which is basically “Mule Elk”.
Spelled backwards.
@UncleVinny You know, if you go a little south, you’ll be in Horlick.
@KittySprinkles is that just east of Goblin’s Gobbet?
@UncleVinny Well, once you’re all done with Horlick, you can always beat it to Gromore.
Can’t complain at the moment
