Help me solve this moral dilemma with Woot
1So, I bought this from Woot:
http://home.woot.com/offers/rayon-from-bamboo-memory-foam-pillow
$30 for TWO pillows.
One of the pillows arrived damaged, with the insides falling out.
I contact Woot, ask about a replacement or PARTIAL refund (for one pillow).
In a very canned reply they say they have no replacements, but offer me $6, or FULL refund if I send product back.
Again, I inquire about a PARTIAL refund instead of a FULL refund, because I am totally cool with just keeping one pillow and getting back $15.
Again, they ignore my question and send another canned reply, this time attaching a return label.
So now I don't know what to do.
I could just send back the damaged pillow and see what happens, knowing that they will likely refund me the full amount--in which case I get a free pillow.
I send back both pillows and get a refund, in which case, a lot of my time has been wasted and I don't have a pillow.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO!?

3) send the 1 pillow back with a note again asking for a partial refund, if they refund the full amount it's on them.
@Ignorant This is what I'm going to do.
I'd return them both and get my money back. Sending 1 MAY get you a full refund, or it may get you a long series of emails and more wasted time discussing why you elected not to send both.
@DaveInSoCal But there is a reason I ordered the pillows in the first place. Because I wanted them. Haha. Why should I not be able to at least keep 1/2 of what I paid for?
I'd send them both back....but.....I pick the seams of each to open them just enough for all that damn filling to fill the box so when they open it..........
Send them both back with a note kindly telling them to go fuck themselves.
This issue has now been marked as: solved.
@Pavlov I don't feel comfortable doing that because I don't think it's very positive.
@phatmass Sometimes, a good "fuck you" is the most positive thing you can offer. However, I concede that in the instance of this specific opposite party, it is most likely heard so much that it would lack any effect.
@Pavlov Gotta agree. Get a canned response that doesn't answer your inquiry. Give them a can of "fuck you". Companies need to be less robotic.
This is something I'd post in the forums and ask for the mod team to help out. Lately, CS has had some weird responses like this and having someone outside of it say, "hey dude, that's weird." can definitely help.
Step 1: Send both back
Step 2: Hope for any kind of refund.
Step 3: Stop shopping at woot. Unless it's a BoC. Then buy it, realize they've become utter wastes of your hard earned money, swear to never buy another, give it 6 months and buy another one.
Step 4: Repeat step 3.
@cinoclav My wife likes the one working pillow too much now. Game over. I'm either gonna get a note back from Woot telling me they need the second pillow to give me a refund--in which case I take the loss and charge it to the game--or, Woot gives me partial or full refund at their discretion.
@phatmass darn those wives !!! This would be a situation in which my husband would be stuck and I would keep my pillow regardless of his pain ;)
You're assuming they'll refund you in full for sending them one pillow. Let go of that assumption and the path will be clear.
@DrunkCat I'm not assuming that, I'm guessing that. I would hope that they read my note and simply refund me 1/2 of my order--which is the perfectly fair and logical thing to do... Unfortunately, "fair" and "logical" no longer exists in this corporation controlled world of robotic replies. #MrRobot #TheyAreWatchingMe
@phatmass Thank you for leaving a reply on Meh.com, the hottest new ecommerce retailer on the Net! Your feedback is very important to us. Thank you for your message, it will be responded to in the order in which it is received. It's our pleasure to serve you today.
I get posting here to get an opinion. Did you post on woot's forums so they have a shot at helping?
@Thumperchick What? If someone came into these forums to address a problem they'd tell me to contact customer service. That's what I did at Woot--contacted their customer service. I'm confused.
@phatmass I meant that if/when CS fails, the forums are the next step, as the mods there watch for issues like yours to come up.
Learn to sew.
@sammydog01 If it was simply a tear in fabric, that's exactly what I'd do. I'm the dude who was happy to simply color a pair of speakers black with a sharpie instead of throwing a fit about getting the wrong color speakers. These pillows are not fabric. They are some weird bamboo/polyester/memory foam hybrid, and the tear was in that material. It's not sewable.
@phatmass I was just kidding. Honest.
@sammydog01 Will that machine fix the tear in the fabric of spacetime?
Cry about it on the good one.
So, hi there. This is TT. You know, you could ask on the site from which you purchased the pillows. We moderators are always glad to help. I'll let CS know that you're scratching your head. The amount they offered is SOP for partial refunds. I'm sure they didn't realize that it was one of two pack.
@Del Do you actively monitor this forum for potential Woot CS issues? (I'm genuinely curious.)
@Del I did. You said, "I'm sorry. please use the Support form linked at the top of the page to contact customer support for assistance." That's what I did. Then, after that, someone else posted that BOTH of their pillows had holes in them. lol

@phatmass
No. Just skim the threads periodically. Things about woot stand out obviously.
@Del Do you make sure to have a stiff drink in hand when skimming? That seems to be the best plan...
@Thumperchick Skim milk? :P
@Del needs vodka and kahlua.
@Del maybe a White Russian?
@Thumperchick Is that a thing that tastes good, or a future Drinking Terrible entry?
@dashcloud oh they are very good
Everyone would get a button if they made it the drinking terrible :)
@thismyusername That picture looks like it has soda in it. How do you usually mix up the drink- 50/50 or something else?
@dashcloud the dark brown is the kahlua https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Russian_(cocktail)
@thismyusername Thanks!
@dashcloud what @thismyusername said.
@Thumperchick a white russian is far too tame for a drinking terrible, right? I do sorta want one of the buttons.
@thismyusername not for the lactose intolerant...
@dashcloud You can keep the liquids separate if they have enough of a difference in density and you're careful. When my brother was working at a pharmacy, he's pour liquid mixtures carefully so they wouldn't settle. He'd tell the customer that they had to take a teaspoon of the bottom half and then a teaspoon of the top half BUT NEVER MIX THEM. He never passed pharmacy college.
@thismyusername I don't think @matthew will give you DTWM cred for drinking a standard cocktail.
@Kleineleh The Dude Abides.
You should send back the defect the pillow and stuff an old shirt full of news paper and sew it shut. They may not notice.
You should have an email now from CS. If not, check those confounding spam folders.
@Del So the lesson here is if you want good service from Woot, complain on the Meh forum. Hahaha
@phatmass Hahaha! Good burn. Of course, you help us by giving more info over on our site. Your post on our site said, "Thanks! I did. It's not working out as I hoped." That wasn't much to go on. Over 100 words here. 10 words there. Hmmmmm. :P
@Del 11, he used a contraction which is obviously 2 words...
@Del He probably assumed that the company would be able to communicate internally after he said he wasn't satisfied with CS's response and posted about the issue on the forum to begin with. Admittedly, a pretty big assumption for woot these days.
@tightwad Drat, you're right.
@Pantheist There's unhappy because you wanted something we can't give and there's unhappy because we screwed up. There's no way to know which it was from his post. The moderators on our site will jump through hoops to help out as will our CS team. We're human. We make mistakes. We would just like a chance to make it right. :)
@Del All is good in the hood. Part of me thought it would be rude to spill out the details on the Woot forum where Woot customers could see it. I think it's kinda rude when Meh customers complain in the Meh forums about Meh CS. I posted here, not to complain about Woot, but to honestly seek third party opinions on what to do.
