Help me create chaos (Pride)
24So in my town yesterday a family protested and held signs marching in front of a neighbor’s house saying “no gays on our street” “support real marriage” and other such signs in front of the house of a lesbian couple(the lesbian couple has lived here about a decade the people protsting them about 6 months to a year). This is getting huge condemnation from the wider local community.
Both families live on the same street.
I know the address of both families.
Pasta drop which is a force for carb laden chaos made me think of this
What can I send to the protesters to let them know that bigotry is not tolerated in this area? Is there LGBTQ rainbow pasta? Glitter bombs ? What slightly chaotic rainbow but not mean thing can I overwhelm them with?

@acrylic @Thumperchick It was commented on above. I just posted the image.
Can I interest you in spring loaded dick glitter?
There’s some pride merch on amazon that you could hang up for a bit on a porch or something.

@riskybryzness good idea!
Congratulate them on their generous donation to The Trevor Project.
@GetClosure That’s a good one!
@riskybryzness I hear Mike Pence gave generously too!
@GetClosure ok I have done this. There is a Trevor Project donation in the name of the family protesting against their neighbors. There is a letter sent anonymous telling them about their generosity in donation and I put glitter in the letter.
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure that is AWE-SOME
@CaptAmehrican Yeah! You SO win this round!!
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure This is great!
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure YESSSSSSS
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure Truly the hero we deserve
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure That is brilliant! I am so glad you are doing something.
@CaptAmehrican @GetClosure

Send them some all natural products that resemble the kind of people they are.

@yakkoTDI bookmarking this for later
That just breaks my heart that the couple has to deal with that. To each his own and all that, but why protest in front of their house? That’s just plain mean. I can think of a lot of things those protesters deserve and none are at all funny. Grrrr.
What’s their address? Come on tell us.
If they’re out there again, it would be a good time to seafoam your engine if the wind is right.
How about some obvious (outside) and nice social event like a barbecue, where you invite the gay couple plus some of your neighbor friends? As many as you can manage, except for the protesters. Alternatively, invite the whole block, including both the gay couple, the protesters and everybody else. Or just somehow visibly “neighbor” with the gay couple. Or???
@romellex i live about 8 blocks away on a street that is not condusive for block parties. Their street is also not a good block party street
I did purposefully add this block to my running route this evening and purposefully wear bright multicolored running gear(as close as i have to rainbow)
Inclusion is always the best response to exclusion. You definitely want to touch base with the couple you believe are gay - doing something on their behalf without knowing what their behalf is would be kind of shady. After all, the whole thing might just be some kind of provocation intended to get people riled up.
@aetris I have spoken to them and they have been clear and vocal on the town internet forum
Have you thought about talking to the family? Listen to them and maybe provide them a different perspective.
If insistent on bringing them a gift, I’ve heard things about Minny’s Chocolate Pie.
I have zero suggestions, but as a bi woman with a transman as a partner and another transman as a roommate (a gay friend who moved in when his partner died), thank you for being awesome. And i’m raiding this thread to throw some shit at a neighbor who seems to be under the impression something poly is happening here, which uhhh. No, old creeper, you’re gross. roomie is like my SO’s brother)
POKER! JOKER! NOT MEDIOCRE! AWESOME!
Send the protestors I support Trump banners and buttons.
@whomeyesu Something tells me they’d appreciate the free swag…
i don’t have any additional suggestions, but please feel free to send the homophobic fopdoodles a hearty two fingered “fuck you” courtesy of me.
but honestly, what i think will be more annoying than anything, is for others to just keep being neighborly towards the gay couple.
Child Protective Services
@mml666 Leave the kids out of it.
Here’s another fun way to say, “Welcome to the neighborhood” to the newer family.
https://pranksanonymous.com/product/glitter-bomb/
Next time it happens, quickly contact any local gay organization and ask if anyone is willing to counter-protest. Or at least hold sheets up to shield the windows of the couple. The situation is beyond vile. Imagine looking out of your window to see an UN-neigbor hating on you
@binkybear I thought about media but that can have negative backlash on the family you intended to support. It likely will go there anyway I suppose. Same with checking for permits and laws relating to protests, signs and being jerks in public.
@binkybear @speediedelivery Given that the neighbors have already marched and waved banners… They’ve already escalated things far beyond whatever minor beef they might have, and worse yet have made it seem as if their personal bigotry was the opinion of the whole community.
I’d suggest creating a neighborhood movement to show positivity and solidarity with LGBTQ+, BIPOC, disabled, etc members of the community… Pride flags down the block. Black Lives Matter signs on lawns, etc… Send a very strong message that the neighborhood will support each other regardless of who they are, but that hatred will not be tolerated…
Find a way to deliver dollar store tier homosexual pornography to their home on a daily basis?
Internet randomness aside, get the community involved in something fun and don’t invite them, or maybe get the media in on it.
I’ve heard if you whispered everyone who sounded interested on this thread their address, some annoying shit would arrive at their house.
@Seeds I bet you’re right, but it could be considered harassment.
@acrylic @Seeds more harassing than marching in front of someone’s house while carrying a sign & chanting nonsense?
I’d have to disagree.
Donating to LGBTQ organizations is a great idea! You could also find out if it’s legal for them to protest.
I would definitely stand between them and the home and try to get others to join me.
How about some offensive crayons?
https://www.offensivecrayons.com/
@snotbottom those are way too fun! Do not waste them on those losers
My personal favorite - tell them to eat a bag of dicks. https://bagofdicks.com/. That, or exploding glitter bomb. Less delicious, way more vicious.
Just like you have the freedom to live your life the way you want to…these people have rights as well to act like dopes. Some people are tolerant…some arent.
@dkline72 they likely have the right to, yes, but if they’re going to be assholes other people have a right to treat them like assholes
@dkline72 @Seeds So, the goal is to see who is the bigger asshole?
@dkline72 @Tadlem43 nah, already figured that out.
@dkline72 I’m not so sure you have.
@Tadlem43 you @'d the wrong person, but you’re right. Harassing your neighbor under the guise of “protest” is so much worse than sending some annoying crap to a biggoted stranger who’s picking on someone who has done nothing to them.
Thanks! You sure taught me something today!
PS: in any case, if you couldn’t figure it out, this is hypothetical. OP has a good head on shoulders, everyone is venting because we’ve all dealt with bullies in the past.
Lol, just reread that, and I managed to put my sarcasm backwards lol. I need more sleep.
@Seeds Sorry. I hit reply and just let it go to the name that came up.
I just don’t see where harassing people is the way to handle it. I’ve been on both sides. This kind of thing just creates more animosity and doesn’t help anyone. But… riot on! lol
I think the action choices should be weighed as to whether they might make the situation better or worse for the gay couple.
@romellex This this and this! It’s not your choice what to do to these folks as the brunt of any retribution from the bigots will be aimed toward the lesbian couple. I would contact the couple and let them know that you support them. Ask them if they need anything and let them take the lead in what action (if any) should be taken.
Some of thing mentioned here break the law. These people are not breaking the law. They want attention. Don’t give in…ignore them.
whatever response is made will have impact upon the gay couple and will possibly also impact the lives of whoever makes the response
There might be legal issues or potential lawsuits and other blowback
why not contact the local organizations that support diversity rights and find out what they suggest they have experience
I know that takes away the satisfaction of an immediate response to their horrible activities but you want a long-term win not just the satisfaction of responding
I’ve heard you can buy hundred, even thousands of various types of bugs. No, not cockroaches silly. Something cute and beneficial like ladybugs.
Mail them a spring-loaded package filled with a dildo and glitter. There used to be a site that offered that service, but I think they went out of business, which is a tragedy.
Why do you feel the need for revenge? Maybe this is the kind of behavior that doesn’t actually HELP the situation?
Order a shitload of sidewalk chalk and get a crew together to color the whole block’s street rainbow stripes on the middle of the night? Don’t write anything, just make a rainbow block appear overnight. Make it look like a pack of fruit stripe gum. It’s a beautification project.
Also, free magazine subscriptions are the gift that keeps on giving. I’m sure that there are many titles out there that could expand this family’s narrow horizons. But maybe that starts to cross into harassment territory.
@djslack about 20 years ago my then coworkers and I in a period of being juvenile decided to team up to prank another co-worker by signing up for everything free we could find on the internet, and have it sent to him (with his name misspelled a different way each time).
One of my coworkers, I know not which, signed him up to receive a free book of mormon, not knowing that doing so would have actual Mormons come to deliver it expecting an easy convert… He knew it was part of whoever was pranking him when they asked for him by name, with a silly alteration of his real name.
