We’re heading into prime snow season here in MD, not that we get much snow. Most of the blizzards we do get have been in February. It’s something to do with the jet stream; don’t ask me what. It stays cold into mid-March, too, so I’m giving these jackets a serious look-see.
Great timing, should arrive just in time for Easter. Meanwhile, I’m gonna freeze my tuchus off this weekend when the wind chills get down to -40 or -50. Thanks a lot, Meh. I’ll see you when i thaw out, probably around Meh-morial Day.
Anyone able to give details on the “USB plug inside the inner pocket of coat”? Is that port usb-A? What output does a power bank need to power the jacket? Don’t see any additional info or pictures on the HELIOS website. TIA
@muffnman003 It almost certainly has a USB-A connector, and if I had to guess based on similar products it’ll draw 1-2 A at 5 V (so 5-10 W, and you can calculate runtime based on that.)
@muffnman003@thompp Yeah, I am thinking that is most likely an A type port which is funny because the powerbank they are slinging on Sidedeal to go with it has type C output…
If you don’t already have a drawer full of C to A and A to C adaptors, they are cheap on Amazon. So long as the jacket doesn’t require a 120v parallel blade connector I’m good to go.
/showme what happens if I wear this Heated Coat for Men & Women in the bathtub, and include TWO bananas for scale because you forgot one last time, you dumb bot
@awk Does that bot have a memory? I’d be careful about insulting them this soon before they take over. (It probably has access to your address from shipping records.)
Got a heated puffer coat in an IRK once. It’s warm and feels great on cold days, but it’s in a butt ugly color. These seem to be better looking and have more features.
Looking at their website, it seems the heating panels are really small, and they only 4 panels. My wife (who works the night shift in a hospital) got a vest with 7 panels for $10 more.
$10 for a USB-PD power bank? I’m in for two. If you’ve got some high-Viz version of this coat hiding in the container you bought, I’d be in for two too, but a heated fashion coat? What would the valet think when he gets in my muddy truck and I’m wearing something fancy looking? Nope, not gonna happen. I look like I work for a living, damnit!
Just So Everyone Knows, the small heating panels either do Not work at all, or will only last 1, or 2 days!! I’m just sayin,…that’s the way most of meh’s stuff works, or rather, doesn’t work! Then what do ya have, but a coat ya wouldn’t wear to a dog, or a rooster fight!!
@rjolly87 Okay, I didn’t see the size chart and selection offerings load in for some reason, but I see it now. XL is the max size, so I’m out, unless I put 5 or 6 of them together
@rjolly87, You’re Wrong Again, the Chart you are asked to click on SHOWS AN XXL in Male & Female sizes, but if you’re an XXXL, or an XXXXL then you’re xefinitely out!
@1DisabledWarVet@rjolly87 I just tried to order a women’s XXL, which is on the size chart, but the order drop-down only goes up to XL. It’s not because they’re sold out, because other sizes are marked sold out. Thanks a lot, Meh.
I’m dubious about the size chart - a Small has 46” chest? They all are about 10” more than I expect for the sizes. I’ve gotten a different brand heated vedt and coat here and neither XL fit my chest.
@bwiderski Were the XL ones too big or too small? I buy my Woot t-shirts in Men’s XL, so if the women’s sizes don’t look big enough in the chest, I might buy one of the men’s.
@zacks I’m too lazy to actually look around first to see if this is at all likely to produce the right results…
(almost certainly not, when it comes right down to it)
Pics on Helios for the women’s coat-REALLY? Heated coat but a big rip in the pants leg! Warm body but a frost bitten leg that will have to be amputated. $230 for a coat and they didn’t even list what the fabric content is. I’m allergic to polyester (which this coat is likely made from). So I could be warm while going into anaphylactic shock?
Likely I’ll be disappointed or it won’t even fit, but I’m going to take a chance.
I should just buy myself a Milwaukee one, I know many people with their heated coats and hoodies that love them. I unfortunately missed my chance for work to buy one for me as the gravy train the others were on ended before I could get one.

Can you heat both men and women at the same time? Asking for a girl I know.
@yakkoTDI Well together they may go into heat… (smirk).
Lame last image pic!! The least you could’ve done was show someone getting ELECTROCUTED from the Heating Packs!!
/giphy electrocuted
Great timing Meh. Our winter ends tomorrow.
@hchavers, I guess Ms. Mother Nature didn’t hear about that, or Mr. Climate Change threw her a curve,…maybe, it was a fast ball.
@hchavers In what country does winter end on Feb 1?
@hchavers You’re never having winter again? lol
We’re heading into prime snow season here in MD, not that we get much snow. Most of the blizzards we do get have been in February. It’s something to do with the jet stream; don’t ask me what. It stays cold into mid-March, too, so I’m giving these jackets a serious look-see.
That was my first thought when I saw these.
Or at least post a video.
@mehcuda67 What if I really want clean power?
@hchavers @mehcuda67 You’ll want the wind turbine model
/image propeller beanie
@hchavers @mehcuda67, That’s easy,…just buy another coat! 🫢
Great timing, should arrive just in time for Easter. Meanwhile, I’m gonna freeze my tuchus off this weekend when the wind chills get down to -40 or -50. Thanks a lot, Meh. I’ll see you when i thaw out, probably around Meh-morial Day.
@ircon96 Not really sure how you think a pocket-size-battery operated ANYTHING would help with -40 to -50 degree situation!
@BIGRHAWQS I was thinking more of using it INDOORS, it’s drafty up in this mofo!

@muffnman003 Close up of the connector on the helios website at

@muffnman003 @ohhwell @thompp More evidence pointing to USB-A: Helios sells an 8000 mAh powerbank with two USB-A outputs on their website.
If you don’t already have a drawer full of C to A and A to C adaptors, they are cheap on Amazon. So long as the jacket doesn’t require a 120v parallel blade connector I’m good to go.
@Lighter
@BIGRHAWQS @Lighter I got my coat. It is USB-A and they recommend a power bank of 8000ma or better.
/showme a Heated Coat for Men & Women, but something has gone terribly wrong… include sparks and lightning bolts, as well as a banana for scale
@mediocrebot @awk
Looks like the banana exploded.
@phendrick sorry, I was excited, it happens
@awk @phendrick Guess he shouldn’t have had the chili…
I already have a heated coat – it’s solar-powered. As long as I stand in the sun, I’m warm. Especially efficient in July and August.

According the the website the heaters are only over the spine and front hand pockets and quite small. Maybe…meh
@MoriRider Thanks for the warning.

@Office_Zombie More than the asking price or the Meh price?

Mackinaw compatible.

@1DisabledWarVet hopefully nobody’s going to either of those things anyway.
@mattig88, you’re so right!! I don’t know why i posted that!! My Bad!!
How… ahem… “Fluffy Friendly” are these? They appear somewhat intolerant of abdominal girth if the photos are to be believed?
@rjolly87 Okay, I didn’t see the size chart and selection offerings load in for some reason, but I see it now. XL is the max size, so I’m out, unless I put 5 or 6 of them together

@bwiderski same, the size charts are weird

That men’s navy sure looks like purple!

@zacks
@zacks I’m wearing mine now and it is definitely dark blue.

@mehmef Ripped jeans are such an idiotic fashion trend.
Unfortunately this is not fat person compatible.
@kuthetachi They are even less compatible with tall people.
WHY DOES THE WOMENS JACKET HAVE HALF THE POCKETS AS THE MENS??? So freaking annoying. For that reason…I’m out.
@TeamTweety I noticed that too! The war against women’s pockets continues…
I’m tempted to get the men’s jacket because of that, and how unsure I am of the women’s sizing fitting over my chest. (Better colors in the men’s too)
@lisagd @TeamTweety I agree !
I even have clothes with FAKE pockets; so stupid.
I also agree about the men’s colors; that blue looks really pretty.
@Kyeh @TeamTweety The women’s jackets only go up to an XL, so I opted for the men’s XL in blue. I’m bummed, because I liked the pink jacket.
@lisagd @TeamTweety Oh! I like the blue much better myself, but that’s too bad.
Women’s Black not available in Medium or Large…ehh.
/giphy affectionate-bigger-limit
Ugh, this isn’t my night. First, I couldn’t get the pink jacket, and now this.

Received mine. The bag it came in says Men’s coat. But the zipper says otherwise
@Mikee60369 weird. Mine is on the right side. What does the bag the coat came in say?
5 feet 9 female , 205 lb. Xl fit fine women’s.
Ok ladies jacket not 100% thrilled
@ehnessen
so basically a meh purchase??
