Hopefully the writeup is from a female’s perspective because I sure as heck ain’t kissing Peter after the boss and his wife leave and positively, absolutely won’t marry him either!!
All these scales, no matter the brand, seem to use the same chipset to do their calculations, so these probably perform as well as any.
I imagine there’s some guy in China who developed the original and is sitting back like the Monopoly card guy, smoking a cigar with his feet on the desk.
@ParadisePete
meh. the guy who developed the original was probably not from china. The way these stories usually go is that some guy makes a nice device and then finds that domestic manufacturing is really expensive, so he ships the design and specs to a chinese factory for mass production. then three weeks after he gets his boatload of scales, fifteen different knock-offs also appear on the market, severely undercutting his product so far that he can never recoup his development cost, let alone make any profit. so original guy goes out of business, has to liquidate assets, and they eventually wind up on some oddball deal-a-day website
@werekong It appears from the specs that 2 of the models say Lithium battery while the all-black one is AAA. I don’t know if the Lithium battery is a replaceable or built-in. Built-in is nice, until it eventually goes bad. Maybe crummy old AAAs aren’t so bad after all?
@pmarin@werekong That is why I went for the black one with the AAA’s. Even if the lithium are replaceable, it will likely cost nearly as much as the scale to replace it.
If Step 5 in the writeup is optional, that means we don’t have to smell the burning circuit even though it may be frying. I need to know how often to expect to need to fight a device fire after stepping off of the scale. Risk assessment is important.
Bought it, loved it! Accurate. Don’t have to step on it first, get off, wait for it to show 0.0, then step on it again. Step on it and get your weight right away. Aesthetically, it’s very nice. Our old one was a hassle. Went straight to the trash. Great purchase! Thanks Meh

@sproinky you could do an Andre the Giant and weigh yourself across two scales

That was a cozy write-up.
I’d watch the movie.

@MrGoodGuy maybe Peter is short for Petronella or Petricia.
Holy f. This could be a dollar. I don’t want this. Meh, are you trying to keep your customers alive? I refuse!
When Kim Kardashian shrank her butt she got heavier.
The people who want to know my weight also tell me how to be healthy, and I am not one of them.
Just as a point of irrelevance, my wife still uses the Health-o-Meter kitchen scale I bought from Meh in 2015 every week. Often several times a week.
It also cost $8.
Movie: The Devil Wears Prada
@Kyeh not quite the same
@pakopako No, AI usually doesn’t get it perfectly.
I don’t need a scale, but the copywriter has a future in fiction–or hallmark movie scriptwriting.
@rpatchen I would expect that to be a scriptwriter they would have to be willing to work for scale.
@rpatchen Or maybe even a present in fiction!

@Turken These are not design and specs. These are a finished chipset that the scale maker just plugs in.
Is there a reason, besides cosmetic, why the silver one costs more?

@pmarin @wyvern It boils down to how long they last. If lithium is significantly longer, it’s probably worth it.
How am I supposed to move the scale if it weighs 400 lbs?
@kittykat9180 lol

“AI” Garbage.
