Season 2 had an actual ending, which you can’t really say about season 1. There were a LOT of things about season 1 I liked better, but you have to give season 2 points for actually having a plot.
@UncleVinny I was also uninterested in a series about kids, but I eventually watched it anyway just so I would know what everyone was talking about. They are sometimes annoying but the rest of the show makes up for that, imo.
@Fuzzalini Don’t - their reasoning to skip is baseless, and it is very likely pivotal to the entire story line (beyond season 2) and it is definitely pivotal to the relationship between 11 and Hooper.
@Pufferfishy lol yeah fair point. I thought the episode was an awkward fit in the sequence of events of the season but it was definitely good for spurring on theories for what’s coming next. Also it helped show her growth in her abilities.
Season 2 sucked balls. It was clear the Duffer brothers wrote it by throwing bags of shit at the wall and seeing what stuck. They basically said as much in the first “extras” episode on NetFlix…
It reminded me very much of Walking Dead (which I stopped watching after about 6 episode) - well established characters doing incomprehensibly stupid shit for no clear reason other than advancing a wafer-thin plot.
And speaking of the “extras” crap on NetFlix - it was great to hear the Duffer brothers speak to “making this last as long as possible” as opposed to, oh I dunno - WRITING AND TELLING A GOOD FUCKING STORY???
This is what’s wrong with American television in general and NetFlix in particular - no one wants actually ENTERTAIN with a story that has a beginning, a middle, and an end - they just want to pen some everlasting fucking gravy train regardless of how garbage it becomes. I’m looking at you “Orange is the New Black” and “Bojack Horseman”.
@Pufferfishy I also agree. I thought they were limiting themselves to 4-5 seasons to tell the story. I was afraid they may give in to the gravy train effect after the success of the first season.
Really… if you want to salvage a shred of affection for Stranger Things, Do NOT under any circumstances watch Episode 7. Like getting food poisoning from your favorite baked clams. It will put you off of it for the rest of your life. I wish that I could unsee it. The worst.
i enjoyed it. as a whole i did not find it better or worse than season 1.
i wouldn’t skip the episode mentioned although there was a section of it that had me like ‘really? we’re really doing this i guess…okay…’ especially with the masks. haven’t we seen enough terrible movies with that? it’s not cool anymore.
but the things that happened around that ‘but this is gonna look badass’ segment i think were worthwhile.
one thing that really irked me the whole time though in s2 was eleven’s petty reaction to the new chick on the block. i didn’t find it plausible/believable, and did find it annoyingly distracting.
@RiotDemon yeah but presumably you were a more or less regular kid by comparison who wasn’t raised in a lab
i mean yeah it must be tough dealing with all kinds of puberty feels when you don’t even have a baseline for what reality should be like, i just felt it was a little overdone and largely pointless. we see her rage with hopper, we feel her pain being separated from mike. i guess i’m just pissy because every time someone creates a badass female character they have to make them powerless over a crush. i’m bored of it.
@jerk_nugget I get that. They do tend to play on vulnerability a lot from crushes/loves. How often do you see a male break down because of a woman? Not as often… Sweet November comes to mind. Granted Keanu isn’t a superhero in that.
I thought that Kali was going to come back and help Will, since he was “stuck” in his mind and she can manipulate people’s minds. Like, maybe she would give him tools to help fight the Mind Flayer from the inside while Eleven fought it from the outside or some such. Obviously, that didn’t happen. That episode had no point; it didn’t tie anything back to the main plot. I can’t see “The Lost Sister” as anything other than (bad) filler.
Both seasons were awesome, but you can’t beat the first season.
Season 2 had an actual ending, which you can’t really say about season 1. There were a LOT of things about season 1 I liked better, but you have to give season 2 points for actually having a plot.
I watched one or two episodes of season one, and decided there were gonna be waaaay too many middle school kids in eeeeeeevery episode for my liking.
That said, I thought Eleven was a pretty cool character.
@UncleVinny I was also uninterested in a series about kids, but I eventually watched it anyway just so I would know what everyone was talking about. They are sometimes annoying but the rest of the show makes up for that, imo.
I like Bob. I liked that he worked at Radio Shack. I miss 1980s Radio Shack. I miss Bob.
@toddnet idk why but I like you. And Bob. And radio shack
@toddnet I like Bob because he was a hobbit before!! LOL
@ragingredd and a Goonie
@ragingredd He definitely went on an Unexpected Journey
Stranger things parody
How do you get to put a YouTube video up and be able to see it instead of just words
@ragingredd I just pasted the link in the box, instead of clicking on the link symbol first. Seems to have worked below.
Season 1 was waaaaay better than season 2.
Predictions on what sort of crazy art/craft project Joyce will pull off in Season 3?
I’m thinking a giant macaroni noodle portrait that “comes to life” and coverses with all those other voices in her head.
I’ve only seen the first episode of Season 2. Right now it’s competing with Longmire Season 6 for my viewing time.
I’ve only seen the first two episodes. I’ll skip the sister episode, thanks for the heads up.
@Fuzzalini Don’t - their reasoning to skip is baseless, and it is very likely pivotal to the entire story line (beyond season 2) and it is definitely pivotal to the relationship between 11 and Hooper.
@Fuzzalini I agree. Don’t skip it.
@Pufferfishy Could conceivably skip it until that storyline becomes more relevant (season 3)
@GeneralAnubis If your life is seriously so busy that you can’t put 50 minutes into it I’d say maybe you shouldn’t be watching TV at all…
@Pufferfishy lol yeah fair point. I thought the episode was an awkward fit in the sequence of events of the season but it was definitely good for spurring on theories for what’s coming next. Also it helped show her growth in her abilities.

@Pufferfishy Absolutely. I couldn’t agree with you more.
@Pufferfishy I also agree. I thought they were limiting themselves to 4-5 seasons to tell the story. I was afraid they may give in to the gravy train effect after the success of the first season.
@lionheartssj they’ve been green lit for season three. They said it’ll probably be four and done.
@RiotDemon Honestly I hope so.

@TexterTusher damn, I thought they were joking
missing answer: ‘yes.’
i enjoyed it. as a whole i did not find it better or worse than season 1.

@jerk_nugget
Nice!
@jerk_nugget I dunno. I’ve felt jealousy like that back in the day. If I had super powers, I would of probably used them on some people.

@shaunanl I bet she’ll be back in season three. All she did was to help Eleven channel her anger.
We just started it last night. Is it just me, or is it trying a lot harder to show of that OMG GUYS IT’S THE '80S!? I hope that gets toned down a bit.
@dannybeans I dunno, they talk about Radio Shack a lot.
I did and I loved episode 7. They were all so badass.
