My mom once ordered me a Xmas present that was delivered in the original packaging so I saw it, told her it wasn’t gonna work out, so she returned it and got me something else in time for Xmas. Does that count?
No. If you get me a gift I don’t want I am incredibly nice about it. At least until I can fire up the wood chipper and dispose of you for this transgression. I strangely still have a lot of friends.
I returned a sweater my stepmother in law had bought me. It had a huge hole in it. When I returned it I found out she had gotten it on a huge clearance and was given about three dollars in store credit, !
I took my mother, the gift giver, back to the store to get the right size and color, found a better (more expensive) option, and talked her into buying the upgrade.
I have experienced Christmas and birthdays where I received duplicate gifts during the same un-wrapping session (both givers were present). At that point, being polite and pretending like you don’t already have one is out the window.
I may have accidentally re-gifted to the originator…
@PocketBrain they liked it enough to give it to you

No I just donate it after keeping it in storage for awhile.
I returned jeans that were three sizes too large. Liked the style so I just exchanged them.

My wife’s elderly parents always just give us gifts of cash which we happily return for exchange at stores. Beats the hell out of fugly sweaters.
I had an ex give me $357 he’d won and then break up with me the next day. I gave it back to him telling him I didn’t want his consultation prize.
