@mcanavino@pooflady@werehatrack@catthegreat Yeah, my best friend’s mother has been on WW since the early days & reached her goal decades ago, becoming a lifetime member, so it does work for some people. As far as i know, WW pre-dates the Nurses’ Health Study by about a decade. Their company history mentions the founder used the “Prudent Diet” from the 50s for the meal plan & added a support group component that was missing from the obesity clinic she had attended. That was always the focus of WW, the group meeting approach, the nutrition guidelines have changed over the years, as the health recommendations have changed. As far as bread goes, even back at the start, AKA the Stone Age, WW allowed you to have TWO slices per day! I mean, i assume that’s more than keto, at least.
Yes I have tried “See”Food & eat it Diet. Plus the colon clean out diet with that Awesome stuff you must drink so the next day the Doc can stick a mini camera up your Rump. Oh Joy that was great!
@ahacksaw I loved the Scarsdale diet at the time. Spinach & Cheese day – yum!
Do you remember the hard boiled egg & grapefruit diet? That was popular at around the same time.
@ahacksaw@brasscupcakes Spinach & cheese day?! You mean, i could have had a day of eating nothing but espinaca con queso? Now THAT’S a diet i can get behind.
I still recall the levels of unbridled enthusiasm for the “Pritikin Diet” back in the '80s, and the queue of vehicles lined up for the drivers to get their treasured loaves of bread from the Holy Font of the local Pritikin temple. My reaction at the time was “Yeah, right.”
couple years ago, I did the slimfast thing ( taking it very seriously) for a couple months…and lost 20 pounds…then the Holidays came around and FUCK IT! gained it all back in short order.
following year, I changed positions at work, now instead of standing behind a cash register, ringing up groceries all day, I’m Picking Peoples’ groceries for curbside pickup, walking at least 5 mi a day(if not 8-10) in the store…
First 2 months, lost 20 lbs…then my system got used to it, and i gained the weight back…
I’ve done something like the Slim Fast diet – friends ordered a crate of Soylent (almond milk enriched with grapeseed oil and vitamins) so we were on a liquid diet for two months. It was weird. We had enough that we weren’t hungry, but we all wanted to chew something.
Nope. All my diets are based on real world needs.
Is intermittent fasting a “fad” diet? Asking for my trainer.
@hchavers Historically, it’s more of an unavoidable lifestyle for a lot of people.
Was Weight-Watchers a fad diet?
@pooflady WW is the fad diet. If it was any older, there wouldn’t be a bread basket at the last supper.
@mcanavino @pooflady It’s largely based on the infamous and widely discredited “Nurses Study”, so yeah, GIGO at its heart
@pooflady No it’s actually based on science and it works.
@mcanavino @pooflady @werehatrack @catthegreat Yeah, my best friend’s mother has been on WW since the early days & reached her goal decades ago, becoming a lifetime member, so it does work for some people. I knew a guy who followed the “blood-type diet.”
That’s about as faddish as they come.
@Kyeh Blood is lacking in a lot of things, from a dietary standpoint, no matter what type.
@Kyeh Was his first name “Count”, last name “Dracula”?
@Kyeh @zinimusprime Let me count the calories! Hahaha! One calorie! Two calorie! Three calorie! Haha!
@Kyeh @mcanavino @zinimusprime I regret I can only give you one star.
No, but I’m thinking about doing the watermelon diet. I mean…it’s WATERMELON!
Seafood diet
@tweezak
Oh… is that how it works. I generally do the seefood diet. I see food and I eat it…
@chienfou @tweezak It’s all a matter of making sure that you define the word “food” carefully.
@tweezak @werehatrack
Nope. I’m a pretty adventurous eater.
The term is well enough defined.
Liquid protein diet. NASTY.
@lordbowen You look like the healthy type…here come some egg whites!
Bacon cleanse.
/youtube bacon cleanse
I rolled my own, it worked, and anybody who says that what I did is ineffective, stupid, or dangerous can stuff it
@werehatrack You lived on pot? For how long??
Yes I have tried “See”Food & eat it Diet. Plus the colon clean out diet with that Awesome stuff you must drink so the next day the Doc can stick a mini camera up your Rump. Oh Joy that was great!
OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
@mycya4me Good for you for getting shit done… Literally!
@ircon96 Yep you need to try it yourself! it is so MUCH “FUN”!!!
@mycya4me Thanks but no thanks! Lol… I’ve been too chicken, so I’ve opted for Cologuard so far. I’m more afraid of the prep than i am the ass cam!
@ircon96 @mycya4me I’ve done both. Cologard is MUCH better if your doc will allow it!
@Kyeh @mycya4me Oh, i have no doubt it’s better! I’m riding that bus till the wheels come off!
@ircon96 @mycya4me
Eons so, when I was a teen, my mom and I did the Scarsdale Diet. It wasn’t bad. We both lost weight and kept it off, until we didn’t.
@ahacksaw I loved the Scarsdale diet at the time. Spinach & Cheese day – yum!
Do you remember the hard boiled egg & grapefruit diet? That was popular at around the same time.
@brasscupcakes Yes! I think I may have tried that one too for a couple of days.
@ahacksaw @brasscupcakes Spinach & cheese day?! You mean, i could have had a day of eating nothing but espinaca con queso? Now THAT’S a diet i can get behind.
*Atkins (I’m gonna be that person today I guess)
My mom had me do it with her when I was a teenager. It lasted maybe two weeks.
@jitc haha came here to say this
Dry January. I looked good Feb 1st. Damn you, Casemates!

What the heck was the Taco Bell diet?
I’ve done something like the Slim Fast diet – friends ordered a crate of Soylent (almond milk enriched with grapeseed oil and vitamins) so we were on a liquid diet for two months. It was weird. We had enough that we weren’t hungry, but we all wanted to chew something.
