A Roomba was my first purchase from Woot. I used it a couple times and then sold it on Craigslist. Since then, I've limited my vacuum buying to stores or traveling salesmen.
@ceagee You really have to work at breaking a refurbed Dyson. It took me darned near 6 years before mine finally broke. I replaced it with a refurbed Animal earlier this year. Other than some design flaws with the power cord, it was well worth the gamble. My daughter's refurb is still going strong after 4 years too.
@LaVikinga But I have an old hoover or bissell that is at least 15 years old and I can't kill it if I wanted to. So 6 years doesn't seem that long. Would like the extra reach on the Dyson for stairs. And secretly wonder if it's better than what I have. I'm being brainwashed by meh and woot on the Dysons =P
@ceagee I used to wonder what the point was with all of these fancy vacuums and would always support buying a cheapo Hoover or whatever but since then I've used a Dyson and bought a Shark and the difference really is huge. I would never go back to regular old vacuums.
I have 3 Kirby hand me downs. One from the 70's my Mom gave me. My Mom's current Kirby from the 80's, and the one my daughter got when my Grams passed from the late 70's/early 80's.
On Monday I received my new Hoover vac which I'd ordered from Hoover. Got a great deal, paid $49, free S&H, and it lists for $149. Yeah, it's just a cheapy, but I love new vacuum cleaners. Right now I own 8 vacuums. Could be an obsession.
I've never bought a vacuum cleaner. The lovely cleaning damsel who visits my home once every two weeks has somehow magically made three vacuum cleaners appear in my basement. I've also never bought vacuum bags, but they also magically appear there. I don't ask, but I suspect the vacuums are from yard sales and the bags are from the dollar store.
I bought a Dyson DC07 Animal from Amazon in 2003 because it was a Gold Box special. (Remember those?) Had to replace the hose once and had to replace the cyclone unit because the clip that holds the door closed broke. It still works great. Bought a refurb Dyson from Woot that we use at our veterinary clinic. I was tempted to buy this one from meh so we could have one upstairs and one downstairs, but couldn't quite rationalize the expenditure. But I'm sure they'll offer one on a day when my judgement is weaker, so it's only a matter of time.
Never bought a vacuum cleaner before. Always had a hand me down until I won a new shark professional unit.
Yep- family member bought one or two from Woot. Working very well now.

I love Dyson's. I've bought 4 different ones online, refurbs. Great deals.
@tcbouch 4? Do they break that easily ?

brainwashing intensifies
Love the Neato I picked up on here a few weeks ago.
Man every time I've bought a vacuum I've returned it because it sucked.

They do last forever if you take care of them.
Got a Dyson DC35 on Woot a couple of years ago. It kicks much ass.
Have you ever bought a vacuum cleaner ... on weed??
@VogonPoet
I have this beast http://amzn.to/ZXhCkj and it is the best thing ever. Namely because of this review http://amzn.to/1CtjWgV
@austib I had that same one and found it pretty lacking, but glad you enjoy it.
My husband got his Dyson from woot before we met and it's still doing a great job, 7 yrs later.

@Teripie I think that goes under this thread: https://meh.com/forum/topics/true-geek-confessions
Picked up the DC65 Animal w/attachments & Zorb cleaner for $400 at Kohls. LOVE it! BEST vacuum I have EVER owned!
Bought a Eureka Capture Plus off Woot several years ago and love it.
From woot (shark) and meh (dyson).
I've never purchased a vacuum cleaner, but I did buy a central vacuuming system for my house as it was being built. Best decision ever.
