Happy National Student Athlete Day!

April 6th, every year.

I wouldn’t ordinarily post two National Days on the same day, because that would be wrong. I wouldn’t want to be blamed for something so egregiously horrific. Ordinarily.

But this is no ordinary occasion. My son texted me a photograph this morning of a large sign posted on the central bulletin board of his high school, proclaiming that he is the Athlete of the Month! He’s a soccer goal keeper on his school’s varsity team, and apparently is a very positive motivator for his team.

His school has a few thousand kids, and apparently he had no idea that this was coming. I’m a proud daddy. And a bit confused - this is not a family of star athletes…
