@jmoor783 i agree you shouldn’t use one. However if it was clean I’m not sure how you think wire brush fragments are going to rise from the bottom of you grill. Because they can’t be stuck to the now clean grate. Do they have limited teleporting abilities? And a vendetta?
@daveinwarsh@jmoor783
I’ve been doing the crumpled aluminum foil thing lately, but I did notice some of it sticking to the grill in tiny pieces. Probably more of a nuisance than a real danger, but still be careful. Maybe I need some heavier duty foil.
@daveinwarsh@jmoor783@warpedrotors chemically aluminum foil is nothing like steal.
Tiny bits of aluminium will be eaten. Steal will just pass. Either way this scenario is just bonkers
I just use a water spray bottle and a non-wire brush, similar to the way I clean my George foreman grill but with water and paper towel. Water bottle only 1 buck at Dollar store.
I’m confused. Why would I try and clean something with steam at 212 degrees, when I’m already heating way past that to cook? The magic of steam? I guess it’s for people who freak out the same way about cast iron being “clean”.
@unksol It is the steam that dissolves the caked on and baked on crust on your grill. You can’t soak it like you can a casserole dish you baked pasta in. So you bring the hot water to the grill in the firm of steam.
@tweezak@unksol If they’re cast iron, you need to season them, like any other cast iron. Theyll just need a rub down with some oil before use and a light scrub after. Just like a cast iron skillet.
Hmmm…wonder if this would be useful for other small tasks like bathroom grout and stuff? It might loosen up dirt and kill mildew, and with the little brush it could be handy.
@k4evryng was checking out videos and saw an HSN video for it and they used to make an accessory kit for it with other brushes and hoses, but its no longer sold. Almost more interesting than the grill part.
@jerk_nugget@k4evryng if you’re thinking about a standard white stovetop a wire brush is way too agressive and will scratch it. Minor abrasives like baking soda are better. Or some chemicals.
@unksol i said underneath the stovetop. i have an older gas stove where the top lifts up so you can access the pilot lights in case they blow out or drown out. and frankly…it’s pretty gross under there and there’s a lot of buildup haha.
But no comments about how much steam delivered, or how maybe other things get clean with it? Somebody missed the COVID19 killing marketing aspect, meh.
Dumbest product ever. It’s the grit & grime on the grill that gives the food its flavor. Just turn on the heat, rub some olive-oil-soaked paper towel on the grate, and grill away…
Try 3 different oils with grilling Steaks. Olive Oil, Canola Oil, then Peanut Oil. Not at same time though. I found Canola Oil is what I liked best. Only a novice would steam a grill grate. Better if you buy a Ceramic Coated Grate from the Beginning as they last alot longer without rust!
You gotta be kidding me!!! Ugh. Ok My FAULT not MEH but damn. Y’all been selling crap lately! I took a 5day break. Now I’m the crap now cuz I missed 3 items I REALLY wanted! Shit!

What’s that, a diy hot dog kit in a can?
@djslack Looks more like an anus.
@yakkoTDI the lips have gotta be in the can somewhere, though I guess you could make an all-anus frankfurter. It’s probably chewier that way.
@djslack @yakkoTDI Anus is good eatin’. Juicy and tender.
@djslack @ShotgunX @yakkoTDI Anyone want some calamari rings?
You know what else kills harmful bacteria? Lighting the grill.
@lowlypeon amen. stupid product, clean grill with wadded aluminum foil to get the bits off and then light it.
@robson light it first, hot grills clean off better.
Couldn’t I just light my grill and use water…
@MrMark at first I thought it was just a grill brush and water gun until I saw it say 1500W.
If there’s one place that can generate its own steam, I believe it’s a grill grate.
Hrmm… a product I didn’t know I need, curious but not sure $34 curious
Wait so is this a mini steam grill on a stick, for cooking hot dogs?
You shouldn’t use a wire brush on a grill, those bristles can get into your food and puncture your insides
@jmoor783 this is why you have to eat some buckyballs after grilled food, to catch all the bristles.
@jmoor783 I use a full size stainless bristle wire brush for my grill (from the welding section at Home Depot). I also use crumpled-up aluminum foil.
@jmoor783 i agree you shouldn’t use one. However if it was clean I’m not sure how you think wire brush fragments are going to rise from the bottom of you grill. Because they can’t be stuck to the now clean grate. Do they have limited teleporting abilities? And a vendetta?

Sometimes, one meh is just not enough…

ok, you guys have really disturbing taste in sex toys.
@alacrity also, this doesn’t make very good margaritas.
I’m confused. Why would I try and clean something with steam at 212 degrees, when I’m already heating way past that to cook? The magic of steam? I guess it’s for people who freak out the same way about cast iron being “clean”.

@unksol My smoker never gets much higher that 200f.
@mike808 @unksol Our new BBQ has a grill that is in 4 sections and they fit really nicely in our sink.
@tweezak @unksol If they’re cast iron, you need to season them, like any other cast iron. Theyll just need a rub down with some oil before use and a light scrub after. Just like a cast iron skillet.
@mike808 @tweezak I was leaning towards the raise the temp/burn it to ash approach. I’m not scrubbing stainless steal grates.
Obviously I would not do that to my cast iron pans unless I had abandoned all hope and wanted to start from scratch.
This design doesn’t even look good on paper.
Steven Raichlen is rolling over in his grave. Remember to keep it hot, keep it clean, and keep it lubricated.
@cansparkle dude, did you kill Steven Raichlen?
@cansparkle “keep it hot, keep it clean, and keep it lubricated” that’s what she said.
For some reason I imagined a steamer basket that goes on a grill. Can I steam vegetables with this?
@awk You can steam clean and brush vegetables. Does that work?
@awk I’m thinking this may be more useful in the garage to clean up things that get really nasty.
What a great way for you, your friend, or your family member to end up in the ER with an internal puncture wound.
@DavidChurchRN *for external use only
I use a spray bottle. Not as sexy… But then again, neither am I.
Worthless. Clean grill with ease while hot
@MarkML I ran out of ease some time ago and haven’t been able to find any more locally. Do you have a good source for some?
Hmmm…wonder if this would be useful for other small tasks like bathroom grout and stuff? It might loosen up dirt and kill mildew, and with the little brush it could be handy.
@k4evryng By the time you get it and let us know the sale will be over…
@k4evryng you have brought a good idea that this thing could actually be good for…
I did not look it up…
but how much are the replacement brushes?
@k4evryng was checking out videos and saw an HSN video for it and they used to make an accessory kit for it with other brushes and hoses, but its no longer sold. Almost more interesting than the grill part.
@k4evryng that’s what i was thinking. i don’t have a grill (or grout actually) but this might be good for underneath the stovetop.
@jerk_nugget @k4evryng if you’re thinking about a standard white stovetop a wire brush is way too agressive and will scratch it. Minor abrasives like baking soda are better. Or some chemicals.

This grill cleaner does have decent reviews. This MEH price is awesome. https://www.dontwasteyourmoney.com/products/sienna-appliances-grilltastic-steam-cleaning-grill-cleaner/
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
But no comments about how much steam delivered, or how maybe other things get clean with it? Somebody missed the COVID19 killing marketing aspect, meh.
I love grilling and have a weak spot for buying toys associated with it, but this seems like a solution looking for a problem.
Would it work on oven racks?
Dumbest product ever. It’s the grit & grime on the grill that gives the food its flavor. Just turn on the heat, rub some olive-oil-soaked paper towel on the grate, and grill away…
@MrNews vegetable oil, it’s burns off at a higher temperature.
@jessecuster Good point. Next time I’ll use peanut oil…
@jessecuster @MrNews Although my grill gets hot enough that everything will burn off. Vegetable oil is usually cheaper than olive oil though.
More like Cleveland steamer
Just remember-everything you see on meh couldn’t be sold at regular price so they unloaded for pennies on the dollars so suckers like us could buy it.
If you missed it and wanted it, you can probably get it here @ $39
Probably cheaper if you’re VMP
Edit: VMP code doesn’t work on that item, but it does on other items there.
Not sure, but we may have missed the intended ‘grill’ to use this on…
You gotta be kidding me!!! Ugh. Ok My FAULT not MEH but damn. Y’all been selling crap lately! I took a 5day break. Now I’m the crap now cuz I missed 3 items I REALLY wanted! Shit!
@DrWorm bought your mom that necklace you hated.
Still waiting for it to be delivered - wanted for a gift - appreciate assistance with tracking
Still waiting for mine too. Last garbage I buy from this garbage site.
Still waiting…
