Greatest of all Times, Music Collection, Day 10
3The story of this group, if you do not know them, is pretty awesome.
I picked this piece because it is very unique and the video fits the story
The guitarist is very … versatile, and was very you can read about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritchie_Blackmore and here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackmore's_Night
And because we talked about Faire clothes earlier, a second piece from them.

HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
Ooh. Deep Purple founder. I hadn’t heard of “Blackmore’s Night” but I was a big fan of Deep Purple in early 70’s, including Child in Time and Smoke on the Water.

(Dig the hair. Band and audience.)
And the classic
@phendrick …though this video features Steve Morse, not Ritchie on guitar…
@tohar1 Yeah, Blackmore was a “founder” but seemed to be restless and frequently moved on [wives also
], per the Wikipedia piece. I was not reminiscing about him so much as Deep Purple and what I remember of their songs that got popular (and I had a couple of those early albums [apparently without him
but at the time didn’t really pay attention to the group members ]).
@phendrick @tohar1 true on the wives although he and Candice Night seem to have met their soul mates as it were
Richie is awesome and it’s also awesome just a mediocre about well trigger herself silly. Richie is awesome because he really pursued the music that made him able to pursue the music he loved. Hopefully I made sense who knows I haven’t had coffee yet
FOOLS! TOOLS! JEWELS! AWESOME!
Woo Hoo!! Finally, one that I’ve heard of & own a couple albums by the artist. To be fair (faire?) my initial attraction was following Mr. Blackmore is his pursuits much more than the music he & his wife were creating…though I have learned to listen & appreciate their efforts, just not as much as Rainbow & Deep Purple.
The first video was delightfully creepy, but with my bad hearing, I had trouble hearing the lyrics and connecting them to make up the story, so found this:
(same song, but with illustrated lyrics, and the story makes more sense to me now).
@Cerridwyn Thanks. You got me interested. I’m going to YouTube playlist as many of Blackmore’s Night songs as I can find, and also others from Blackmore’s other groups where he was a major force.
@phendrick not was, is. And I hope you enjoy them
Some other pieces by them
This one demonstrates Ritchie’s mastery of the stringed instrument
Another I love
@Cerridwyn Seem to be notable songs, but once again I’m having trouble hearing and understanding the lyrics. Apparently I’m not the only one, for though they are closed-caption-enabled, Google’s captioning bot gave up after the first few words.
I agree he knows what he is doing on the instrument, and furthermore her voice is definitely lovely.
An aside. I can envision his face within his helmet, with the visor up, while he is sitting on his steed awaiting the commencement of the jousting tourney.
[Now, I’ll try to quit interrupting your packing or other preparations…]
@phendrick I find that so interesting because it says how different hearing loss is from person to person. I don’t have an issue with her vocal range. I do with others. I’m sorry you can’t hear them well. Have you tried the closed captioning directly on YouTube?
@Cerridwyn Yes, I didn’t see any difference there. Bot starts, quits shortly.
