Or don’t. I don’t care. About having people to talk with about sumo, not sumo itself. I do care about Sumo. A lot. It’s glorious. My favorite at the moment is Mitakeumi, my wifes is Ishiura. Goiedo has disappointed me and I still don’t understand the excitment for Endo.

NHK
@connorbush NHK and Comet TV are the only two channels I watch.
I used to watch Sumo Digest regularly on ESPN, but then they stopped showing it. Its been years since I followed it. Thanks for the link!! I used to love Asashoru (too sleepy to look up spelling). I heard he was disgraced for a while.
The bout between Chiyonokuni and Yoshikaze today was a fun example of a rikishi’s athleticism, I thought.
@DrunkCat It may be that Endo’s popularity stems from his entering pro sumo at such a high rank after college, giving hope for a future Japanese yokozuna. His “good looks”, which have increased the number of female fans who now follow sumo, and earned him advertising slots, probably help too.
@oknekok Thank you! That all actually makes sense now. The announcers never really elaborated on why he was a favorite. I started watching sumo last year so I’ve only been seeing him drop through the ranks.
