@awk@reeldl, Don’t y’all be fooled by that freaking name, GoWISEUSA! I have one, and it IS Made In CHINA, JSYK! BTW, I bought it from an online business called meh on 04•01•2022, but FYI, I likes it!
@awk The point is that most grills only go to 481° - and if you’re grilling along at 481°, and you need that extra little push over the cliff, where can you go?
@awk@mehvid1@reeldl Aw, Yes, I ain’t used it yet, but I’m Fixin to today!! When I posted that around 1:30ish, I was trying to be positive like my VA shrink wants me to be [or not to be,…that is the question], not the one you axed¿
@Raysrny Amazon one-star reviews are 5% of the total, which usually indicates that the durability is spotty. The complaints about the US importer’s customer service are cited at least as often as the product in the ones I read. It appears that the performance is good unless the unit develops a problem, and some of them will fail. That’s pretty typical for most anything these days. Oh, and “no parts available”.
@Raysrny@werehatrack Well, Damn,…I’ve had mine for three months, haven’t opened it, but presumed it was okay, or better!! At Fn Least I got my pain meds on Friday, the 1st,…So, Be It,…I’ve had worse days!!
@Raysrny I bought one the last time they were sold on meh. Surprisingly, it works rather well. My house is equipped with overly sensitive smoke detectors which go off at least once a week when making toast. But they do not go off when using this grill, so in my experience, the smokeless feature works well. However, the grill is not smell-less. Your house will smell like whatever you grill for at least 8 hours.
I’ve used the griddle feature a couple times to make pancakes and eggs. The griddle surface is not evenly hot, but is better than most electric griddles I’ve tried over the years.
My only real gripe is that I wish it came with a lid. Whole boneless chicken breasts take way too long to cook on this thing, so I thin-slice them horizontally, which reduces the cooking time. I think a lid would help trap heat to make thicker meats cook faster.
I’ve used it six or seven times now. It’s a nice backup for when you plan to grill out, and the weather doesn’t cooperate.
@baroquebob@Raysrny Years ago my parents had a Farberware electric grill based on similar concept (fat drips onto a surface where it will (mostly) not smoke or ignite). It didn’t have a fan, though. Not sure how the fan helps here… does it suck the air down, and if so, does it filter it?
the old one would smoke a bit but not bad. For foods that took longer to cook, we would « tent » some aluminum foil over it to preserve heat around the items being cooked.
@pmarin@Raysrny When using it as a grill, there is a tray at the bottom that you fill with water. The fan draws the air down and across the water underneath, somehow magically removing the smoke. My experience with it has been good, though, like I mentioned, the smells of dinner remain in the air afterward. Also, first couple times I used it there was a plasticky smell, but haven’t noticed it since.
I’m Smokeless as in, I have No herb[ aka, pot]!! And Yes, I have No bananas, I have No bananas today, but I does have one of these GoWISEUSA even though I ain’t tried it out, one guy here said it’s pretty much okay, so I’m just hopin & prayin they are right!! If it ain’t no good, I’m gonna be madder than a wet hen !!

Better guard your grill.
I doubt the temperature control is that precise.
@awk “up to” can be as precise as you want it to be.
@awk 482 Farenheit = 250 Celcius. Maybe GoWise USA is a copy of a European model
@awk @reeldl More likely, it’s a paste-on label for a slight variation from a rest-of-world model.
@awk, Mine goes to 482.51° Exactly!!. …Yeah, Right!

@1DisabledWarVet @awk @reeldl but… you haven’t used it yet?

These go to 482°.

@1DisabledWarVet thank you for clarifying and thank you for your sacrifice to this silly little nation of ours.
Grilling with margarita in hand.
@cbilyak, Yep, Yep, I might do that with mine Today, minus a Rita, but with a Land Shark [beer ] in hand!!
@1DisabledWarVet @cbilyak OHES NOES!!! Not Landshark!!
This would be great if it was powered by propane for use off-grid.
OH MY GOD THEY GRILLED GLEN!!!
@shahnm Don’t worry, Glen didn’t tell 'em anything.
@shahnm, WHERE & Does he taste like Chicken¿?
Recipe book included!! Can you throw in a Shamwow too?
Has anyone ever used these? How good are they and are they really smokeless?

Smokeless? Yeah, when they are turned off.
Smokeless? Like, on purpose?
@brennyn Your smoke detector will probably disagree.
@brennyn Or maybe it really is mostly smokeless, according to what one of the previous purchasers said above.
