@CaptAmehrican Using fancy paint or just regular? My split level basement is the game room and I want to resurface it but I’ve become enamored of fancy garage floor paint.
@Barney@Targaryen Last night I read a freebie Kindle book called Little Slaughterhouse on the Prairie about a family of serial killers in Kansas that Laura Ingalls lived near. And I thought Kansas was such a friendly state. Amazon recommended it. Thanks, Amazon.
Looking forward to the “excessive heat warning” in Dallas today. I feel bad for my husband because he’s a local delivery driver and has to be out in it all day.
@stardate820926 OMG…I was out and about in Dallas at about 4pm on Tuesday…when I got in the car (partially shaded) it read 107…when I was almost to my office…it was 114…i took a picture…that was the highest I’ve seen in my car to date (although its a new car so technically that’s not saying much)
@stardate820926@Targaryen To be fair…coming from Louisiana…this is a more manageable heat for me…MUCH less humid…but still wouldn’t trade it for the cold snowy winters some places get…
I’m currently eating a super fucking delicious sandwich though, so that’s good. It’s a chicken caprese from tropical smoothie. Eating it for the third time so I can try and figure out how to make it at home.
Some kind of thin bread with grilled chicken, tomato, pesto, mozzarella, parmesan, and balsamic stuck into a panini press.
@Targaryen thanks! I just spent 10 minutes trying to find the perfect bread while I enjoyed my delicious sandwich. Already have pesto and mozzarella in my fridge. Apparently I need to reduce my balsamic into a glaze.
@Targaryen Eh. Partly that’s just where I’m at in life right now. Add on that my current task at work isn’t a particularly good effort/satisfaction ratio and I’m killing time on Meh and playing Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
Played that while it was still an open Beta. Got to the 3rd year, then stopped.
Partially because at the time, I had reached the end of what was available, and I didn’t want to keep waiting for updates in order to continue the story.
Had no problem playing without any IAPs, which was funny for me when the game was officially released, and I saw people complaining about how you could not do much without the IAPs.
@PlacidPenguin They’ve been doing a decent job adding content to keep it somewhat interesting. I don’t play it super frequently, so I don’t hit the end of the story before the next chapter comes out.
I slept in, made iced coffee from my mediocre cold brew coffee maker, and don’t have to drive further than the post office. So I’m doing great! And way less cranky than yesterday. Maybe I’ll even go to the pool!
/giphy swimming pool
Good morning, @Targaryen. Difficult day here. Dealing with health and mental health issues with family members. Coffee helps me keep everything in perspective, in case @ThumperChick wants to share the big cup.
@Targaryen Went to the grocery store with the intention of dawdling in their cool air, but OF COURSE their AC was out too. Was sweating profusely when I left. LOL.
@RiotDemon Local companies pretty busy, would be next week before they could come out. A family member is helping me (long distance) try and do some things. Right now, I can run the AC for about an hour at a time. Which helps immensely. It also helps that I am a night owl who sleeps during the main part of the day. More progress tomorrow hopefully. Thanks.
Good morning! Just so you know, that is an unusual saying for me. I am a night owl. Today I am on vacation, it is pretty out although a bit cool at 75°. I have plans with family this afternoon. My parents are in town for a couple days. Technically I should be cleaning but…maybe tomorrow?
@Targaryen Just hanging out. Picnic on Sunday. They are going to a wedding Saturday. They live down your way and a bit more west so I don’t get to visit often.
@Targaryen Me too. The crappy stuff isn’t really too crappy. Just some chronic foot/ankle pain, house/garage damage from a storm, typical work stuff, and constant fatigue from sleep apnea and a newborn. I’ve got way more good than bad though. The newborn alone will win.
Doing okay I guess. It’s a nice day today. Sister’s birthday is at the end of the month, gotta plan for that. The day right after is when my mom passed. So I guess a mix of happy and sad.
@Targaryen Yeah she definitely would appreciate it. Thanks. Unfortunately my sister tends to see it the other way around (the next day makes the previous day harder), but it’s nothing we can’t handle. Just gotta do what I can for her on the day.
@Targaryen@tinamarie1974 It’s flat-out amazing. I can’t wait to get back to it after work. Super-fun to drive, still trying to comprehend how I’ll never need to stop at a gas station again!
@ACraigL I would love one of those! I have an electric car but it does not have the range of yours. It did not take long before I quit noticing gas prices. I got some nice rebates when I bought mine so I figure it paid for itself in saved gas money in 3 years.
I slept in, then fed all four animals, which is an hour-long ordeal because one of my dogs refuses to eat unless I spoon feed him. And, against my better judgment, I find myself close to giving in to my husband’s desperation for a new puppy. I’ve got my hands full with these two boys already, but what’s one more?
@PurplePawprints Beautiful pups! Have three here and family is desperate for another one since we lost a long-time canine family member in March. Doesn’t help that the local rescue posts so much puppy cuteness on FB!
@Barney It’s Torben, the one on the left. He’s so ridiculous it’s a good thing I absolutely adore his neurotic ass. Stanley finishes his food in about 60 seconds while Torben just stares at me. I feed the cats, start coffee, rinse up the food prep dishes, and eventually pull out the footstool to sit on while I feed him having to coax him to take every bite. Good thing he’s pretty.
@Barney He goes days without eating. I’ve definitely tried that tactic. He will occasionally eat most or all of his dinner without my assistance, but that’s only once or twice a week.
@Barney I finally gave up this morning and wrapped up his breakfast and put it in the fridge. I just finished eating a chicken salad and tomato sandwich and he begged to clean the plate when I didn’t save him a bite. Right now, he does not think I’m so great. haha
Good Morning @Targaryen! I am vertical and breathing, so it can only get better from here! In addition, I’m working from the kitchen table with my doggie at my feet happiness
Good afternoon, I’m exhausted after a great night.
We went to see Billy Joel last night. Missed the 11:02 train so had to wait for next one that was scheduled after midnight. Got home at 1:30 and went to bed at 2:00. I was up at 4AM the day before. Being awake for 22 hours is pretty hard on the body. Got up at 6 to walk and feed pups then went back to bed until 11:30 - still tired.
The concert was amazing and I did not want it to end! I would have stayed for another 2 hours. Springsteen came out and sang a couple of songs to celebrate 100 shows at MSG.
@mfladd@Targaryen @f00l you forgot being chased by a tornado or hurricane depending on where in the state he was. And fire ants and killer bees. Hmm

thank you therealjrn and Barney too!! i’m in a good mood because of this site!!
@sammydog01 Hahaha. Excellent. I’m glad you guys are super nice as well as awkward too because I’m super… special is a good word
Thanks again everyone!!
I’m still trying to figure that out. I found out this morning that they’re moving all of the people involved in the project I work on to a new building.
While they’re covering it in rainbows and sunshine, and this project being the one that has sustained the company, I also remember the last two companies they made for their own projects. And those all tanked hard.
Also, it’s going to take me to a building different from my tabletop RPG group. That’s the real tragedy.
the high point of my day was opening an email which began:
Hi ekw,
It has been a little while since we last spoke regarding <some outside request for data>
I can’t figure out what they are talking about.
I scroll down.
they are replying to an email I sent them on Dec 6, 2016.
that email was in response to an email from them asking (basically) “where are we with this data request”
to which I had said “I sent you a sample file on August 9th (also 2016) and you never responded.”
while it’s not always this silly, my life is pretty silly.
Got caught up on several emails and a few minor, unfinished details. Not to mention Meh forums.
Not bad.
Just glad I’m not stuck outside :blast furnace:
Good. Today is my day off. I have had a nice breakfast and been to home depot to buy basement floor paint. Getting ready to paint today.
How are you doing?
@CaptAmehrican Sounds productive. I’m good, just bangin’ out some emails and drinking coffee.
@CaptAmehrican I’m prepping walls today for primer. I started about 2 months ago. Maybe I’ll finish?
@CaptAmehrican @sammydog01 There’s always tomorrow?
@Targaryen coat 1 done on basement.
@CaptAmehrican Using fancy paint or just regular? My split level basement is the game room and I want to resurface it but I’ve become enamored of fancy garage floor paint.

@CaptAmehrican @moondrake All of these are pretty good. I assume it’s just epoxy sealant?
@moondrake the fancy epoxy is out of my budget right now. Those are lovely but about 1 to 2 dollar per square foot for the epoxy. I am using a much cheaper behr solution

Woke up!
@lisaviolet Well, I’m glad you made it here today.
Hot and sweaty. I’ve been working in the yard trying to get some stuff done before the temp hits 100 and the land of Oz becomes a steam bath.
@Barney Fun fact: Oz was not actually in Kansas. Hence the line “…we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
@Barney Yeah it has been and will be 100+ this week here as well.
@medz Fun fact: In order to boost tourism, Kansas created the phrase, “Land of Ah’s”. Didn’t work. Nobody wants to come to Kansas.
@Targaryen
/giphy take a break
@Barney @Targaryen Last night I read a freebie Kindle book called Little Slaughterhouse on the Prairie about a family of serial killers in Kansas that Laura Ingalls lived near. And I thought Kansas was such a friendly state. Amazon recommended it. Thanks, Amazon.
@Barney Shoot, I bet dozens of people come to the Oz Museum in Wamego every year. I’ve never been, but I have seen the billboards for it.
@sammydog01
I can see why the book was free.
@medz
Didn’t you mean to type “dozen”?
Eyes are dry and I have a headache.
@medz Allergy thing or just a bad morning?
@Targaryen Not sure. Had to take excedrin last night. Probably something going on with the weather.
@medz @Targaryen Probably Sahara dust
Looking forward to the “excessive heat warning” in Dallas today. I feel bad for my husband because he’s a local delivery driver and has to be out in it all day.
@stardate820926 Yeah those trucks they drive around in are mostly just mobile ovens.

Working today.
Got some annoying news.
I’m currently eating a super fucking delicious sandwich though, so that’s good. It’s a chicken caprese from tropical smoothie. Eating it for the third time so I can try and figure out how to make it at home.

@RiotDemon The hardest part is trying to make it exactly the way someone else does it. Good luck on your sandwich making adventure though.
@Targaryen thanks! I just spent 10 minutes trying to find the perfect bread while I enjoyed my delicious sandwich. Already have pesto and mozzarella in my fridge. Apparently I need to reduce my balsamic into a glaze.
@RiotDemon Let us know how it goes, I hope there will be pictures.
@RiotDemon If you’re eating it for the third time, is it really a sandwich anymore? Or are you adding new bread each time?
@Limewater ha ha ha

@RiotDemon You can buy bottled balsamic glaze.

@arielleslie Today, or just in general? Any reason?
@Targaryen Eh. Partly that’s just where I’m at in life right now. Add on that my current task at work isn’t a particularly good effort/satisfaction ratio and I’m killing time on Meh and playing Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
@arielleslie What do you do, if you don’t mind my asking?
@Targaryen I’m a software engineer.
@arielleslie Ah I see, do you do any of your own work?
@Targaryen I don’t have house elves do it for me…
I work for the military industrial complex rather than for myself if that’s what you mean.

@rm9116 That sounds rough. I hope it all gets sorted out soon.
Could be better. We have triple-digit weather here as well and my AC died. Have been making do without, but pretty cranky about it.
@lordbowen I’d go to the mall or the movies or something if I didn’t have AC, just be anywhere else that’s kind of cool.
@lordbowen any resolution soon?
@Targaryen Went to the grocery store with the intention of dawdling in their cool air, but OF COURSE their AC was out too. Was sweating profusely when I left. LOL.

@Barney My AC is back up and running and my house is CHILL. The unit is about 25 years old, so my AC mojo is actually pretty good.
@lordbowen My AC is approaching 20 years (maybe a bit older). I’m just hoping it can hang in there for a few more years.

It’s 2AM by me, and the rain keeps on alternating between light and heavy.
Shame there’s no thunder/lightning.
Oh well. High chances of that for much of the week.
@PlacidPenguin Sounds like a nice night.
@Targaryen
Not really; there were several issues:
I’m great, and shitty. So much win and so much suck going on at the same time. I’ll let them battle it out and let you know who wins in the end.
@lichme I’m betting on the win.
@lichme @Targaryen that’s a great smile! What a cutie.
@lichme Adorable baby! You’re right - everything else pales in comparison.
Doing okay I guess. It’s a nice day today. Sister’s birthday is at the end of the month, gotta plan for that. The day right after is when my mom passed. So I guess a mix of happy and sad.
@blkxltng Well, I bet your sister would appreciate a great birthday then. Makes the next day a little easier hopefully.
@Targaryen Yeah she definitely would appreciate it. Thanks. Unfortunately my sister tends to see it the other way around (the next day makes the previous day harder), but it’s nothing we can’t handle. Just gotta do what I can for her on the day.

@ACraigL Yay!
@ACraigL what did you get?
@tinamarie1974 Tesla Model 3
@ACraigL @tinamarie1974 Tesla’s are pretty neat. How are you liking it?
@ACraigL Sweet! Those are fancy. Hope you like it

“Good morning” is an oxymoron…
@Sabre99
my shin hurts, but other than that, abso-fucking-beautifully.
My morning was busy, but it was good. Thanks for asking.

@PurplePawprints Beautiful pups! Have three here and family is desperate for another one since we lost a long-time canine family member in March. Doesn’t help that the local rescue posts so much puppy cuteness on FB!
@PurplePawprints Which pooch is the big baby that has to be spoon fed? (I always enjoy seeing updates on them.)
@PurplePawprints they are so handsome!!
@PurplePawprints @rm9116 You are their target demographic.
@Barney It’s Torben, the one on the left. He’s so ridiculous it’s a good thing I absolutely adore his neurotic ass. Stanley finishes his food in about 60 seconds while Torben just stares at me. @moonhat @rm9116 Thanks!
@Targaryen Indeed.
@PurplePawprints Dumb question – what would happen if you decided not to spoon feed him?
@Barney He goes days without eating. I’ve definitely tried that tactic. He will occasionally eat most or all of his dinner without my assistance, but that’s only once or twice a week.
@PurplePawprints Aw, poor doggie. I’d do the same thing you are doing. You’re a good mommy!
@Barney I finally gave up this morning and wrapped up his breakfast and put it in the fridge. I just finished eating a chicken salad and tomato sandwich and he begged to clean the plate when I didn’t save him a bite. Right now, he does not think I’m so great. haha

@pyroguy7 Sucks, maybe it turns out well. What game are you guys playing?
@Targaryen Starfinder! Doing the Dead Sun Adventure Path
@pyroguy7 That looks interesting. I haven’t played tabletop in a few years now. All the guys you work with play too?
@Targaryen not all, but the group is compirsed of coworkers comprised. Hopefully we’ll still meet. The new building isn’t supposed to be far
the high point of my day was opening an email which began:
I can’t figure out what they are talking about.
I scroll down.
they are replying to an email I sent them on Dec 6, 2016.
that email was in response to an email from them asking (basically) “where are we with this data request”
to which I had said “I sent you a sample file on August 9th (also 2016) and you never responded.”
while it’s not always this silly, my life is pretty silly.
@ekw That happens often here as well. One of gets an email from months to a year ago about something that didn’t show up or a question they had.
@Targaryen
Well considering that’s about how often I make a purchase on Meh…
@ekw
/8ball Better late than never?
Don’t count on it
@Kidsandliz I’d prefer never!
Got caught up on several emails and a few minor, unfinished details. Not to mention Meh forums.
Not bad.
Just glad I’m not stuck outside :blast furnace:
@compunaut same here. Emails and forum work.
Hi everyone i am feeling happy to join Meh.
