Hi everybody,

For starters let’s clear this up. I don’t know if BreakfastOctopi counts as the official GISHWHES team for Meh or not. It’s made up of a combined force of community members and staffers. @katylava is still very much involved but she handed over the reins this year for managing things to @dashcloud. In my opinion it’s as official as it ever was all things considered but you make your own judgement.

With that said, your assistance which will cost you nothing but 5 minutes you probably would have spent browsing these forums anyhow is needed. We apparently just don’t have enough people on the team who actually have LinkedIn accounts to do this all internally but it’s really easy if you’d like to help us out with task 176:

Show us their career trajectory by writing a formal resume highlighting their special skills and qualifications. Post it on LinkedIn. Get ten people to give a recommendation.

I put together a resume a few days ago and gave him a pretty complete profile but my dog Colby needs your help finding a place in the working world. He has… ‘skills’ that need endorsed and could really use written recommendations about his time working as a Postal Worker Greeter and Great (in his mind) Expeditionary Hunter. They don’t have to be anything elaborate.

Directions

  1. Sign in to your LinkedIn account
  2. Go to Colby’s Page and ask to connect with him
  3. Once your connection request is accepted, submit a recommendation for him on this page.
  4. Go to the Skills Section of Colby’s profile and click the plus symbol next to a handful of his ‘Skills’
  5. (Optional) Hide your recommendation of my dog from your other contacts. Go to this page and change ‘Display on your profile to:’ from ‘Your connections’ to ‘No one’.

And that’s it, easy as pie. We’ll really appreciate the help and Colby will too! How can you say no to this face?
