GISH-Team Breakfast Octopi (Unofficial)- Change A Life
4Several of our illustrious forum members and myself are participating in the new version of GISHWHES (Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen)
It’s a week full of creativity, kindness, acceptance, gatherings and …well lots of weird!
This is put on by Random Acts.org and is a fundraiser as we pay a fee to participate. This year the money raised is going to save a lot of puppies and kittens.
Every year though they also do a Change A Life crowd rise fundraiser. This year’s recipients are from a village in Rwanda.
The main person is Olive. As Olive was in labor with her third child, she saw her entire family slaughtered in front of her. Devastated, she could have given up on life. Instead she adopted 6 other children orphaned in this same war. She was also forced to see the men who killed her family often in her village. Did she hide from them, no. Olive forgave them. She’s an amazing inspiration for all of us, especially the other women in her village. When GISH approached her about helping, she said wonderful, but whatever you give me, I will share with the other women in my village. So Gish took up the challenge to make their dream come true.
They have set up a Crowd Rise page to raise money to purchase some land for them to grow vegetables, along with building a small market for them to be able to sell their goods. This will allow them to actually make a profit and feed their children.
Each team has been asked to set up their own page and raise at least a hundred dollars. Our team of course can donate, and of course the more the better, but they’ve challenged us to get at least 10 donations outside of our team. So if you can donate, thank you very much as it’s a deserving cause. If you can’t, no worries, if you would just post the link on your social media sites, we will be forever grateful. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Thanks, but school is starting. I have 4 grandchildren to get stuff for. That’s not counting what we give to the school directly.
Fruits of my loins do have puppies, kittens and chickens. Betcha your folks don’t do anything for chickens.
@therealjrn Probably not! And I feel ya, I have 8 grandkids who wear out my wallet, but I don’t mind a bit. It’s also a shame that teachers have to buy supplies out of their already meager salaries.
@mehbee Yup–your cause does seem very just. Good luck!
@therealjrn thanks bunches
Rwanda is coffee country. Good choice.
And good choice in person.
hope you raise 10x your minimum
@Cerridwyn Thanks, we’are going to do our best
What is the deadline? Payday is 14th yes…still living paycheck to paycheck!
@mikibell I will check and let you know. The week ends tomorrow as far as GISH but they usually keep the crowd rise pages opened longer. You’re definitely not the only one doing that!
@mikibell If you want, just send me the money thru paypal. I’m totally legit.
@therealjrn be careful what you wish for.
I see you have $85/100 requested so far just from 4 people! I hope you exceed your goal.
@Kidsandliz thanks. I’m hoping we get at least the other 15.00. Of course I would loved to have raised more but anything is going to help that village and I’m good with that.
BUMP BUMP BUMPITY BUMP
Last day of GISH 2018
Going to be a pain and bump this again. Yes I’m pushy for charity!
Anyone have any tips on how to promote this, ive tweeted and shared it out on Facebook. What can I do to make it more interesting or appealing.
@mehbee Are you on Instagram or pinterest? (I’m not on either–just spit-balling here)
@therealjrn I am on IG. That’s a good idea, I’ll try that.
@mehbee start tagging people?
@mikibell I did that on my Facebook page!
Well cool! You are now over your goal!
@Kidsandliz I know, made me very happy!
