If parrots were that big, how big were ostriches?
The modern ostrich is mean, fast (like 43mph) and 300lbs. I would not like to meet one in a dark alley as I am none of the above.
@allergycheryl@mehcuda67 Confession time: I don’t think I’ve ever been in a dark alley. I kind of wonder if maybe they’re not as prevalent as Hollywood would have me believe…
@allergycheryl@mehcuda67@tinamarie1974 Maybe.
I lived in Atlanta for several years and walked around downtown. I don’t really recall any dark alleys there. I lived between D.C. and Baltimore for several years, and spent significant time in each, and don’t really remember any alleys there, either, unless you count the ones behind people’s row homes for parking pad access.
@allergycheryl@Limewater@mehcuda67@therealjrn I honestly don’t recall. It was about 15 years ago and I was in Memphis with a friend. We just happened to be there on the anniversary of his death.
It was an odd experience. Folks made pilgrimages down to pay homage to Elvis. There were Elvis impersonators elsewhere you turned. It was really fun to be caught in the middle of everything, it was definitely an unexpected suprise.
Nommynoms: “I would ride this thing into battle”
Riskybryzness: “YOU CAN’T DO THAT. THEY WEIGHED 15 POUNDS.”
Nommynoms: “Also: they’re dead!”
Polly wants the whole box of crackers.
Or “giant” parrot.
@blaineg This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
@therealjrn For some reason I always thought the Dodo was about 6’ tall.
@blaineg Seagulls were the most vicious avian in this chart. See this clip

@mehcuda67 it was 15 pounds. Pick up a large stick.
@mehcuda67 what kind of dark alleys do you frequent where you risk running into an ostrich?

There’s really only one alley.
@allergycheryl @Limewater @mehcuda67 you must be sheltered. I have walked past and down many a dark alley in my life.
@Limewater @mehcuda67 @tinamarie1974 Yeah @tinamarie1974 but did you run into an ostrich in said alley?
@allergycheryl @Limewater @mehcuda67 thank goodness, no!!! I did run into an Elvis impersonator once though! That was an odd evening…
@allergycheryl @Limewater @mehcuda67 @tinamarie1974
Young Elvis or old Elvis?
@allergycheryl @mehcuda67 @tinamarie1974 Maybe.

@allergycheryl @Limewater @tinamarie1974 Well, I’m pretty sure it was an ostrich. It was dark.
