Wow.... I can mount one of these on the fence, point it to the neighbors house, and fuck with that god damn yappie dog they leave out in the back yard all night. Not that I don't fuck with it anyway... but this.... this... ohhhh... this is going to be fun.
Im really diggin this product but not gonna be effin with wires ..if it was a battery pack i would have bought a few, seems like a great buy and very kewl product ...ty Meh but regrettably i must pass on this deal !!!
Would have bought if battery. I've got some of those Mr. Beams (frequently sold on Woot) lights around my house after our house got broken into (by humans and raccoons) and would love this.
@stuartpb i'll give it a shot, got 2 for hacking, will post a teardown on Amazon if they're interesting. i'm thinking a few laser pointers attached to it would be cool.
Seems a lot of those bad reviews were purchased at Sam's Club. Wal-Mart pressures manufacturers to meet "their" price point, which means they often make a "Wal-Mart" model with inferior components.
Hell, I'll buy one. I'm replacing a completely dead, 30 year old motion light that's all flaccid and rusty.
@Sapper I never see that with sams stuff... you are right about wal-mart stuff for sure on some items, but many times the upc and or model are different at walmart, target, best buy, home depot, and lowes to allow for "sale price" tricks and return management. The reason why they don't take this approach with sams is they will pretty much take anything back anytime if it fails to meet your desires.
@thismyusername That's interesting. I haven't had a Sam's membership in 10 years, so I honestly couldn't say. I just know that you never, ever want to buy anything from Wal-Mart that has a power cord. Especially TVs. Video game consoles are one of the safe items, though, since the manufacturer holds all the cards and sets the price point. At any rate, I haven't had any problems with Costco stuff, and their employees don't have the, "Please, Sir, kill me" look behind their eyes.
@Sapper Costco pays well. Sam's ... pays like Walmart, so you will end up with different attitudes.
A couple months ago, Sam's had a free 60-day membership trial, so I gave it a shot. Then I renewed my Costco membership. The items I regularly purchase (dog food, cheese, chicken, various salads) were all inferior with their ingredients or quality.
@Sapper yea I'm not defending wal-marts pay scales in anyway... just saying I've never had that issue with sams stuff. In my area costco is finally moving in which will pressure sams to pay better I suspect ;)
Was all primed to pick up two of these before reading the reviews at Amazon. What a shame. Good idea, poorly executed. Starting to look like I may not get the benefit my VMP status this month which I'm unsure is good or bad.
I bought one last year from sams. It worked great for a week or so.... Then it died... Went back to sams replaced it and it worked for two days... That's when I decided to go for a refund... For those of you who think that it might have had to do with the install believe I'm familiar with the good ol voltmeter.... So it was not an issue with the power line... I ended up buying an led fixed motion lamp from lowes
@jareza checking the line voltage periodically does not eliminate the possibility of your juice supply being dirty. It could be line surges, which kill electronics. This GE device might not be enough surge-tolerant for your install. As an example, microwave ovens died on us every year until we plugged it into a surge protector strip.
In for two. Replacing a 15-year-old motion detector that not only works when within five feet of the front door but also plugs into the external wall outlet. Probably not a good idea. Thanks meh! mirrored-brutal-falcon
@jareza I'm thinking 1200 in stock. Surprised 1100 actually sold personally, price is decent but product reviews are weak. I've seen the camera with recording capabilities for around $50 before, a worthy price bump, THAT feature would have made these sell out a long time ago.
If reviews were better I'd have bought one to mod; replace the emitters with infrared units and mount a tiny IR sensitive camera to the movable part so it tracks the lights. Cool in concept but not worth it if it breaks within a week...
@ana0526 You'll need to contact support- you can cancel orders yourself up to an hour later. There's a support button at the bottom of the main Meh.com page, and you can click on the Account button up top, and then click on My Orders. Underneath each item is a link that says "I need help with this item".
The item was a piece of junk. The light crapped out after the first rainstorm. It still tracks and rotates, but no illumination. I didn't bother returning it for warranty because I'm getting too old to keep going up and down the ladder.
The install was a PITA due to the screws going horizontal while 99% boxes have the screws vertical. More gimmick than functional. If I stand still too long to pretends to take a picture of me.
I'm loving this motion sensor tracking light. Had it installed in place of the light fixture by the side garage door. The bulbs were always going out and they were a pain to replace. This has been going strong for 6 months. Perfect solution for a dark side yard. Gives me a little more sense of security too. I should get one for the other side yard.
The light was cool when it worked but it didn't work consistently. It often did not track movements at all. I replaced it with a stationary motion sensor light for better dependability.
This is an old thread but just a heads up: my lights went south last week: they are supposed to be warrantied for 5 years and Jasco denied me of warranty support because meh is not an authorized reseller
I just asked meh about who to contact to ask for support

illumehnating...
Nah.
Yeah, got three... Yippie!
This is awfully cool... Definitely getting one, and I don't even have a house to guard against various attackers!
@johnamo Use it in the hallway so you can see going to the bathroom
@SkyyPunk Genius!
This is nearly half the price they were trying to sell it on offers.com through checkout.org before... Seems like a good deal if you need it.
Where was this when I got robbed last week? Meh you suck... But could be awesome if you sent me one cause you felt bad for me :)
Nice Try. bzzzt
Problem is there are too many 1-star reviews on Amazon.
@cengland0 +1
People are certainly raving over them on Amazon. lolz
I might have been in for a couple if the reviews weren't so shitty ... but they are.
@narfcake Nah, they were just kidding around with those reviews.
See what I did there?
@moose shouldn't be sneaking around houses!
@mfladd I'll sneak where I want to sneak, it's a free country
@Moose But that's dangerous in Texas

@discmaster Poor dog, it deserves a better home.
@mick I think that is the happiest dog on earth... never met a dog like it before.
Is this gadget smart enough to track big pompous critters with built-in eye masks across your back yard as they stalk the garbage cans?
@RedOak
@RedOak
@nadroj
NOT amehzing reviews over at Amazon. Have a look for yourselvies.
WHY DO I FEEL THE URGE TO BUY!!!!!! MUST ........ HAVE....... RESTRAINT.............
Took me awhile to see if they were battery or plug-in only. Plug-in, so no go for me.
@haydesigner Imagine how fast those batteries would die being on all night scanning for movement.
@haydesigner Thanks for the comment...I feel better about not buying this!
@cengland0 With all the feral cats I feed, dead in half an hour, plug in, never shut off.
Well, where I would want to put it… there is no outlet anywhere near. That's problematic for me.
Well, goodbye VMP... :'(
Im really diggin this product but not gonna be effin with wires ..if it was a battery pack i would have bought a few, seems like a great buy and very kewl product ...ty Meh but regrettably i must pass on this deal !!!
I want to hack it to say "INTRUDER ALERT" in a tinny voice whenever it starts tracking something.
@awk
Would have bought if battery. I've got some of those Mr. Beams (frequently sold on Woot) lights around my house after our house got broken into (by humans and raccoons) and would love this.
@Collin1000 Yea. Those are cool! I bought 3 and keep one unattached in case the power goes out. I can just bring it in and have good light.
Somebody should hack these to turn red and ring a bell when they start tracking something: http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Turret
@stuartpb i'll give it a shot, got 2 for hacking, will post a teardown on Amazon if they're interesting. i'm thinking a few laser pointers attached to it would be cool.
@uwacn Took care of that for you
superfluous-bronze-horse
I'll give them a try. In for 3.
Combine this with the sen.se "Mother" home monitoring device on electronics.woot for the creepiest in home automation.
Seems a lot of those bad reviews were purchased at Sam's Club. Wal-Mart pressures manufacturers to meet "their" price point, which means they often make a "Wal-Mart" model with inferior components.

The coons, possums and ferals will be happy if I don't make a purchase. Must resist....
Was all primed to pick up two of these before reading the reviews at Amazon. What a shame. Good idea, poorly executed. Starting to look like I may not get the benefit my VMP status this month which I'm unsure is good or bad.
@dungoyle if you buy nothing in the month and cancel VMP prior to it renewing, the 5 bucks auto-credits back to you.
I bought one last year from sams. It worked great for a week or so.... Then it died... Went back to sams replaced it and it worked for two days... That's when I decided to go for a refund... @jareza however price seems good to buy a couple an check what is wrong with them

Happy Mehmorial Day!

With only minimal modification it could become a wonderful cat toy!
Today's face is win and today's LED light is meh!
Will it work on 220V?
@Aspos nope, no 220... this is a direct 120 fixture!
how many do they have??? its almost 6pm central time and they have not sold out!!!???
@jareza I'm thinking 1200 in stock. Surprised 1100 actually sold personally, price is decent but product reviews are weak. I've seen the camera with recording capabilities for around $50 before, a worthy price bump, THAT feature would have made these sell out a long time ago.
Gotta pass on this one. Like the idea of the product and would have purchased if the reviews I read weren't so bad. Let's see what's next.
If reviews were better I'd have bought one to mod; replace the emitters with infrared units and mount a tiny IR sensitive camera to the movable part so it tracks the lights. Cool in concept but not worth it if it breaks within a week...
meh!!!
I need to cancel this order for the 3 LED motion lights.

Honestly ???

@wreckmaster Shitty reviews describing such issues was why I didn't buy it when they came out.
Maybe look into warranting this and then pawn it off at the next yard sale or something?
@wreckmaster email meh.com/support . they might be able to help

I really like this, & a friend wants to order these now--I'd like to order more: any chance they're gonna be offered again?
@MawMaw It's possible? They don't really know what they're going to have more than a few days ahead of time.
The light was cool when it worked but it didn't work consistently. It often did not track movements at all. I replaced it with a stationary motion sensor light for better dependability.

@jareza you might need to use the parent company Mediocre Inc rather than Meh.
