Game of Thrones: The Hound (Grindhouse Style)
8Hello fellow Meh-tizens!
My movie buddy Mike recently got caught up on Game of Thrones. He saw the Hound character and felt that his story was like that of an old school Grindhouse character, so he made this trailer to make it a reality. Because after all, if you see it on the Internet, it has to be true, right? RIGHT?!
Please check out this trailer he made. Full disclosure: I’m the friend that did the movie trailer voiceover. It was an impromptu request from him the other day around midnight after I had just had a milkshake - it’s a little hoarse, but I think he still made it come out ok.
He’s sure to appreciate your views, likes, and comments if you can spare them. Thanks as always!

Arya is my spirit animal. I’m in the middle of re-watching the entire series in preparation for the new season.
@looseneck I lost faith in her after the way she treated the Hound. He’d been good to her in a world where compassion is a rare and precious commodity and she gave him not one iota of forgiveness for it. Undermined my respect for her. Anyone can be a ruthless killer, that’s not interesting. Tempering it with justice is interesting.
@moondrake
The fictional universe in which they live doesn’t offer much compassion.
That’s part of the entertainment. Seeing a universe in which people act as we never would.
Besides, this fictional character is a brutalized kid. Cut some slack?
Besides, haven’t seen the HBO thing, have no idea what Arya does to the Hound there, but if you’re up to date on the books … hint …
@moondrake I fully disagree. You ever tried to be ruthless? It’s exhausting. The Faceless Men are ruthless and Arya was sane and aware enough to find fault with their system. She’s not cold blooded enough to kill without question. Her violence comes from passion. I respect that.
Keep in mind, I married an Italian man. I have a soft spot for hot blood.

@f00l @PantHeist I’m waiting till the series ends to read the books, I don’t want two differing story lines in my head at the same time. I understand where you are coming from, I’m not saying Arya’s behavior is out of character or out of place with her world. It’s completely in step with her world, which makes her no more interesting to me than any of the other butchers in that show. I did not get the sense that Arya quit the faceless men because they were too ruthless for her, I felt she left because she is not an assassin, she is a vengeance machine. She doesn’t want to kill people for others, she wants to kill them for her own personal reasons. Again, a behavior I understand but not one I find very interesting as a character’s sole trait. Oberon had a similar drive, but his charm, wit, and somewhat exotic origin made him interesting. He’d have been tiresome if he hadn’t had these other dimensions. I don’t find the darkness in GoT refreshing, I find the light there lovely by contrast. The Hound is much more interesting to me than Arya, SPOILER because of him choosing to save both Sansa and Arya, and when he stepped in to stop the Mountain in the tourney with the Knight of Roses (although there was some vengeance drive there). The difference between Jaime Lancaster away from Circe’s malevolent influence and when he’s with her. Varis, the flip side of the coin (so far) to Baelish’s dark machinations. And of course there’s Tyrion and and Lady Olenna Tyrell. These are the characters that interest me. Arya may develop into someone of interest, she’s in the tempering process. But right now she’s single faceted, just another killer in a world where they are a dime a dozen.
@moondrake
The series would be just almost pure darkness without Tyrion.
Oleanna, Littlefinger, Varis, Samwell, and Brienne also help.
My approach is about opposite of yours, because I read most of the books before the first season was broadcast. Have yet to watch the entire first season, let alone the rest. Own it all. Need to catch up.
Just hope GRRM lives long enough to actually publish something again sometime.
Just as Oberon and Titania need Puck.
@f00l I can’t read the books. That Martin fellow is awful at writing dialogue.
@f00l I’ve read several of his earlier books, Windhaven, Sandkings, Nightflyers, and of course a good chunk of the Wild Cards series, which he edited. Martin was a frequent guest at the small sci fi cons I attended in NM and AZ, plus for a while all the Wild Card writers would enjoy little sci fi cons as an opportunity for an expenses paid reunion. I’ve never been a big fan of epic fantasy series, they tend to be way too big on maps and genealogies for my patience and interest. And this one was reputed to be filled with generally unlikable characters and have a high mortality rate among the few likable ones. Also not to my taste. So until the HBO series I had no interest in the Game of Thrones book series. I have an autographed box set but I probably would never have read it if I didn’t enjoy the tv series.
