@chienfou@tinamarie1974 The Washington Post said that the camera gathers light better than our eyes and that is why it is easier to see it better that way.
Just realized that I “fat fingered” that title. It should say G5. Also @extramedium… any way you can change that banner. I’m not really sure why your bot picked that rifle??
Thanks
I live in the deep south practically at the Gulf of Mexico. Only faint light green and faint pinkish red. I could barely see it just looking, camera worked better (camera brings in more light). The lines are my window screen as this was 2am.
When I lived in NW Ontario we saw them a lot and no need for a camera. We were canoeing all night one night on Lake Nipigon and the sky was just beautiful nearly the entire time.
It was so beautiful last night. I always thought it would be cool to see but now that I have I really want to go to a spot where I can see them really good, without all this light pollution. I’m hoping it clears up here in MI so we can see them again tonight. Perfect weather also with the mosquitos too. 1:
I know everyone’s already flooded with aurora photos, but i’ll post one of mine anyway. this was looking straight up in my driveway. wish i could have zoomed out further. you could see some of the color with naked eye, but this was with the night-sight mode of my phone.
and over the house
it was bright out like a full moon all night
Can you see anything where you are?
@tinamarie1974
Ooh I’m jealous! All I saw was a couple of whispy lite streaks.
@chienfou oddly enough it was easier to see through the camera
@chienfou @tinamarie1974
I went out and tried looking with my phone camera and I CAN SEE IT HERE!!! I’m so excited!

Nothing by me yet. Too cloudy. I drove up to the harbor in the hopes of seeing something, but so far nogotz. Sitting in my car, patiently waiting.
So everybody there legitimately appears to have rednecks now?

It even looks like there’s some green down at the right.
I didn’t see anything but apparently my phone did. Lucky phone.
@heartny
Nice pic!
@heartny That’s so dramatic; I like the boats’ reflections in the water.

Heavy overcast here.
Really amazing what this can potentially do … Oh…and my power just went off!

I am going to make the tired Simpsons joke:
Are you sure that’s the Aurora Borealis? And not your kitchen on fire?
@pakopako i’ll go for the tired Family Guy Joke:

@walarney You must be farther north than I am to be able to see some of it with the naked eye!
@walarney stunning
@Kyeh I’m about a half hour from the Canadian border.
@walarney Oh, no wonder!
@walarney
I really like your first one, it’s different than most.
