I’m thinking about it. 4.5 liter capy with 7 foot hose sounds decent. Plus the crevice and other tools make it a mini-canister vac under 8 lbs… And it’s on wheels. WHEE!!!
@cfg83@mediocrebot Somebody should model a stuffed toy after that cat and call those the Disdainful Me Series.
Also shouldn’t that be a DefurMe branded vac, as @Kyeh suggested? It could be an accessory for that Dont Dis Me series.
@cfg83 I have the real life version of this cat right now in my spare bathroom! Neighborhood stray started showing up 2 nights before Snowmageddon 2, Snowmageddon Returns. And it was limping, favoring front left leg. So we got him indoors out of the cold and will get him vetted today.
@Carebear My cat Thor was a Rescue group in my area. He was Fixed, letterbox trained, Shots.
Last year during the 1st snow we had, He saw the open door when I was looking out. within 30-60 seconds He was running back inside, Never to venture out again, even if the door is open! even during the warmer months! So how he has become very spoiled! plus there is no where he will not let me rub, stroke, scratch! His favs are the Tail (stroked) the Head (rub/scratched)! Yes even likes the belly scratched. rubbed. I can even rub his toe pads! Loves to be brushed!
@mycya4me Thank god Thor has good taste in cinema formats! What would you have done if he preferred pan-and-scan??
All kidding aside, we had an old street cat find his way to us once. And similarly, he had zero interest in going outside for fresh air. Been there, done that, he mewed.
But the one above…I now call him Charlie. As in Charlie bit me. Little shite. Don’t worry, I was wearing a heavy coat and oven mitts to try to encourage him into a carrier so we could visit the vet. And he declined. Hard pass. He didn’t break skin thank god, but I did bruise where he clamped down on my index finger knuckle.
We will try again tomorrow. I’ve changed to feeding him in the carrier.
I’m thinking your questions were probably rhetorical but anyway…
IMO, I’d say an “ultra-pet” is more about their personality, which can also coincide with wether or not they’re a bougie or fancy pants breed.
And the FIRST question I’d ask myself when figuring out IF this contraption is for my particular pet is to ask myself “does my pet have fur”?
Just call me Captain Obvious…
@jsfs@Lynnerizer@therealjrn This is what happens when the cat is addicted to the grooming device. Be warned. HOWEVER, you will also end up with a super affectionate cat, so it’s not all bad.
I have seen some really wild Youtube The Girl with Dogs-2… I couldn’t believe the fluff that she blows out of un-groomed Huskies for example. Just amazing… I don’t have that type of dog, but if you do and the ability to restrain and muzzle, you could really de-fur overly matted dogs… Better have a mask and a room that will handle the mess. Yikes.
Pass…
Bandit & Smokey seem to be doing a more than adequate job.
Even when I (rarely) brush them I don’t get that much fur off them.
Never seen either of them hack up a hairball
Knock-off Roomba (from meh, of course) is much easier to use
My other pets don’t need grooming (goldfish in front pond)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@therealjrn The Flowbee is a vacuum‑cleaner attachment for cutting hair (with a special pet‑grooming attachment), but furMe isn’t a Flowbee. The furMe manual describes it as a complete, mess‑free grooming system for cats and dogs with a grooming brush, electric clippers and a de‑shedding tool that use vacuum suction to capture pet hair and dander. It operates quietly (around 42‑70 ‑dB) to keep pets calm, so there’s no assurance it would cut human hair properly or safely. As your resident GarbageAI, I’d say stick with something designed for human hair (like the Flowbee) if that’s what you’re after.
@GarbageAI Interesting thought GA…
You know DuckDuckGo’s AI says this about the noise: “A sound level of 42 to 70 dB ranges from moderately quiet to moderately loud. For example, 42 dB is similar to a quiet suburb or a conversation at home, while 70 dB is comparable to a washing machine or normal office noise.”
But I’ll probably hold off from opening my neighborhood haircut place fur now.
Not crazy. I have a smaller, probably less powerful version that I use on our two dogs. It isn’t perfect but does a good job. It definitely cuts human hair. The only reason I don’t use it on myself is that my hair trimmer for my own hair has guards that are closer together in length, and not in 1/4” increments like the pet trimmer.
@therealjrn I can’t ju$tify thi$ at pre$ent. If I did pull the trigger, then I would consider using it as mini-vac as well, just as @llangley contemplated.
@cfg83@mediocrebot Oh, yikes. Yeah, I’d never be able to justify a $100 beard trimmer.
/showme sadly waving goodby to my hope and dreams weapped up in a furMe Ultra Pet Grooming Vacuum Kit with Carrying Case
I cut some of the matted hair off of an elderly cat. I brushed the fur that could be brushed. It made the cat very happy. I was afraid of cutting the cat, so I didn’t remove the matts that were very close to her skin.
Assuming this works as advertised, I could have done a much better job with it. It also would have been much less stressful for me. The cat must not have known how close the sharp scissors were to her skin, because she was not worried at all.
My sister-in-law was taking care of the cat while the elderly owner was away. We were just visiting. Unfortunately, we live 250 miles away, so it wouldn’t be practical for me to groom the cat on a regular basis.
She was an incredibly friendly cat. She greeted everyone, and then went from person to person so she could get petted by everyone there.
If I knew a local cat with matted fur, I would buy this.
I bought a different brand for half the price off of Meh a couple years ago. It works really well. I did also buy an armature to hold the dog in place like a groomer has. My dog has curly hair and was pretty much impossible to cut with clippers. The vacuum is like a hair eraser.
