Friday’s are for staying alive and getting healthy!
On Fridays I call in my weekly INR reading, refill our med containers, and, up until today when I decided I can no longer handle the awful side effects, I WAS taking my weekly Ozempic (and then Monjaro) injection. Fun times, busy day! 🫠
@kuoh@Lynnerizer@PhysAssist thankfully i’m back home after visiting the clinic. goal 1 was to share local bakery goodies w/ coworkers to celebrate end of bday week; goal 2 was to obtain professional medical care before next sleep. Goals met!
@kuoh@PhysAssist@wooterondo
Glad to hear everything went well with that check-up and no welfare check is needed in the near future. And BTW, Happy belated birthday!
I’m summer there for hanging out on the deck till the goes down (that’s why we need that extra hour of sunlight). In winter there there for hanging out on the couch watching the noon tube.
@ItalianScallion
I’m looking [slightly] forward to finding out if that’s really the case for me too.
Slightly, because I’m hoping the blessed event will be about 4 months [give or take] from next week.
Right now, it’s the day to bull through to get to the weekend.
Every other week, it’s my Besremi injection day.
@PhysAssist I’ve taken up language, voice, and guitar lessons, new hobbies, spent more time on hobbies I already had, set up a regular exercise schedule, so I’m keeping myself quite busy and am very happy in retirement. Hope you’ll find things you like to do too!
@ItalianScallion
Oh, I have plenty of things waiting for me to have time to work on them, practice them, finish them, etc.
I’m also very much looking forward to getting back to exercising more regularly and vigorously.
@macromeh Friday is for frying, it’s in the name! Duh!
Preferably frying catfish, perch, salmon, or some such.
Or, def would settle for burgers or steak, on the grill
@macromeh@phendrick I didn’t do the high-school era Fried-day back then. But when I got to college (this seems pretty mild thinking back) my room-mate and I would “party” on Thursday nights because we didn’t have any Friday classes (or at least not in the morning). The extent of the partying was getting a 6-pack of beer and splitting it. (An older guy in the dorm had to buy it for us…)
I think on a few occasions we did get a “pony keg” of beer for the dorm on Friday nights. But this was college, so it’s all good, right?
@macromeh@phendrick@pmarin
In my college days, we had exactly 1 kid in our dorm who was too young to drink legally [a 17-year-old transfer student] during my senior year.
The first week of my sophomore year, I lived in the transfer dorm, where it was moistly juniors and seniors, and because we were all transfers, we were told to arrive a week earlier than other students were allowed into the dorm.
BIG mistake- as there were keg parties on at least 2 floors every night [10-story high-rise dorm] and a big multi-keg party on the last night before classes- I fell dead asleep in my first class and had to be awakened by a student looking for a seat in the next class- that professor never liked me forever after.
@macromeh@PhysAssist@pmarin i was never bothered by students sleeping during my math classes (provided they didn’t snore or snort in their sleep). Figured they at least were getting something from my class. My favorite antic then was at the end of the lecture to hold my finger to my lips (“shush” mode) and have all the other students leave quietly.
NEVER slept in a hs class, no matter how boring. Then got to college and was in the gung-ho Corps and had many late nights and early mornings. Learned how to unabashedly sleep in class, so later was sympathetic. And maybe they could “sleep-learn”.
Waiting for Caturday.
@yakkoTDI yep
@mycya4me @yakkoTDI
/showme calendar with Caturday every day
@mediocrebot I would buy that. If it existed anywhere, it would be Japan.
@mycya4me @pmarin @yakkoTDI

You should get one of these, I have one and it’s beautiful! https://www.amazon.com/Page-Day®-Gallery-Calendar-2025/dp/1523524715/ref=asc_df_1523524715?
Depends upon the particular Friday…
@shahnm ditto because we are on a 9/80 schedule and off every other Friday. This Friday is mine to work, boo
@ironcheftoni
But next week:

@Lynnerizer I like this. I think that I’m going to get myself checked out to see whether my appendix is considering to rupture in the near term
@Lynnerizer @wooterondo Well as long as it is only considering you should be good. I’m curious though would that be a front or back door welfare check?
KuoH
@kuoh @Lynnerizer @wooterondo
Likely U/S vs CT-scan…

When you’re retired, Friday is just another day.

When I was in high school back in the 70’s , Friday was Fried-day.

Very much the same, except I was never a teach…
Fridays are for the NLL, National Lacrosse League. So are Saturdays. Go Bandits!
Staying up a little later, having another glass of wine (like from the Casemates deal, which I took advantage of!)
