@harrison I think Meh needs one of these for science & research purposes, right?
@dashcloud He would just take it apart.
@sammydog01 @dashcloud are you kidding? I'd be cutting so many things, provided I could wrestle it away from @KyleThePhotoGuy
There are only a couple projects I would like to do, then it would turn into a $2000 dust collector.
@hallmike I thought that for my 3d printer, but is been about 7 months and I still keep printing things. Granted only occasionally constructive but still stuff keeps getting made.
@Nikodemus What kinds of things? Got any pictures of what you've made?
@hallmike Whats hanging out on my desk at the moment. Agent 47 and Lara getting prehistoric

@Nikodemus Cool! Thanks for the pic. May I ask which printer you chose?
@hallmike sure it's a Lulzbot Taz 4
seems more like a laser cutter to me. Meh. what do I know about 3d printers
@Foxborn enough to know the difference apparently.
@Foxborn It' just like the laser printer sitting outside my office except in well every possible way.
Also lasers, but not the same thing... I am holding out for a Form 2...
But the glowforge does look cool... here is hoping it fails and meh sells em for $100 each. ;)
Rulersmith is near me. Friendly and accommodating when I visited. It didn't work out for what I needed at the time, but I keep wishing I had project that needed giant CNC CO2 laser cutting.
$500 for an air filter? How stinky am I?
Just saw this about the glowforge:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/we-use-a-2000-glowforge-to-make-stuff-out-of-frickin-lasers/
The video shows it in action.
I helped a friend of mine set up a laser engraving company. The commercial grade laser engravers he purchased were $18,000 each. I bug him all the time to let me interrupt his production so I can do stuff on one of them. I wonder if it's worth purchasing this so I can just do it myself...
I've laser engraved leather before, which interests me a lot! Just not sure I can get my wife sold on spending the $4,000 on the pro version.
hey look a 3D printer at its best price!
NOTE: woefully lacking laser beams
Ended up buying one of the basics. Use my referral link to save $100 (I get $100 back too!)

In case you guys think I'm crazy (I am a little bit), see my comment above regarding my laser engraving history. Here's a project where I played with with leather and a laser:

We plan on doing a bit more with this and the Laser.
