@Barney@mossygreen@therealjrn I was suspicious of the murderer but wasn’t sure- the grotesque part was totally a surprise. Good book! I bought another one.
The Iron Druid series. Because I wanted something purely light and entertaining.
Some of the lit-crit of Harold Bloom.
Because I want to tiptoe into the world of lit-crit now and then.
As lit-crit goes, Bloom can be a lot of fun.
(He does make argument pro- his preferred approach and anti- other approaches to lit, but I mostly ignore the academic infighting stuff.)
Bills, mostly.
Christmas cards.
Assembly instructions.
Usually mysteries, but that would include the above mentioned assembly instructions!
Emails that it missed.
Credit card limits.
I proofread what I write.

Meh polls
Same stuff I read normally. Whatever I can find in the new book section of the library.
Something good. I’m usually buying better books with gift cards.
Who has time?
Readings for schmucks
read news and sports stuff on the net.
Where’s the ADHD option?
I read what other people are shit-posting on meh.
I’m reading a Gladys Mitchell book that @mossygreen recommended. It’s good- I get to find out who the killer is tonight!
@sammydog01 Yay! I want to write something that’s a big spoiler, so I won’t write anything. Glad you like it (not a spoiler)!
@mossygreen @sammydog01 Too bad everybody dies. At least that’s what @Barney told me.
@Barney @mossygreen @therealjrn NOOOOOO! It’s got little kids in it!
@Barney @sammydog01 @therealjrn Did you finish it? Did you think the murderer was kind of obvious? Did you the enjoy the suddenly grotesque denouement?
@Barney @mossygreen @sammydog01 A grotesque denouement? Shit yes, I’ll wager Sammy was all over that!

If you’re looking for something seasonal to read (and are okay with satirical fantasy), Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather is very good.
(If you don’t feel like reading, it also got an excellent TV movie adaptation starring Michelle Dockery, Ian Richardson, and David Jason.)
Personally, though, I’ll be reading the copy of Tuva or Bust! I picked up at the local used bookstore’s midnight solstice sale.
@dannybeans I have almost enough free shipping credits to buy Hogfather. Should I?
@sammydog01 I think you should. If you’re familiar with Pratchett’s work, you’ll enjoy it thoroughly. If you aren’t, it’s a good introduction.
@dannybeans Done! I’ll read it when I’m done with Gladys.
@dannybeans I just started Hogfather. It’s really good- thanks!
@sammydog01 You’re so welcome! Terry Pratchett is far and away my favorite author, so it’s always fun to get somebody else reading him.
Sale papers!

@ruouttaurmind If you can make it to Tulsa, we’re going out to eat Chinese at around 11 Christmas Day.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn Can I come too?
@therealjrn At the Chop Suey Palace Co?
@ruouttaurmind Of course you can come @sammydog01!
@ruouttaurmind Yep, just like that, only this place is real. lol
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn
I’d be tempted. Even for Chop Suey.
But my family outbid you in the Xmas Day food temptation bidding.

Right now, the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. I’ve heard good stuff about it for years, nay, decades, but finally got around to trying it.
Wow!
Great characters, great space combat, great fun. Most of them are available for free at the Baen Free Library.
