For our crafters
21I recently discovered that we have a nice little Crafting community here which is basically Awesome. at the same time I was picking up several of the Amigurumi kits that seem to popular. I have not crocheted in many years so my fist attempt failed within about 12 rows. Attempt #2 I am happy to say has yeilded more positive results. There is still what feels like a lot of mistakes but I'm still proud of what I made.

Great job! I love it. My Mom crochets a ton, it's not something I've ever been able to pick up but I can make a long chain :)
@tinkertime A family friend that watched me when I was little tried to teach me to crochet and I could never do anything but chains either.
I've been trying to learn again recently but haven't really had much luck. So far my attempt to learn how to knit is going much better lol
That is awesome! How hard is it? I have never crocheted- did you say there was a kit?
@sammydog01 Thanks! It wasn't too Hard once I gor back in the rhythm of it, but I kept messing up my first try. I think Crochet is easier than Knitting. And yes I own something like 5 or 6 different kits they usually come with enough yard and materials to make two of the Patterns. I got most of mine at a local seasonal bookfair that had them at like 60% off but I have seen them at costco for 12-13$ so not too bad. Most of the directions look easy to follow. and it you have trouble there are TONS of pages on the Interwebs to help
Not sure if real donut.
@Pavlov Not sure if you are real.
@Barney I share those very same concerns. When the being that is dreaming me wakes up, I'm a goner.
@Pavlov I will miss you.
@Barney I love you too, @barney.
@Pavlov Aww... (purple blush)
@Barney
I have 5 pounds worth of purple Mike & Ike's. Interested in 17% of it?
@FroodyFrog Nope, I need a minimum of 18.625%. Sorry.
@Barney
Ehh. Your loss :P
That is awesome! I wish I could do stuff like that!
@conandlibrarian THANKS! I bet you can do stuff I can't though ;)
@conandlibrarian I bet you could do stuff like that! Eventually.
Craft beer ers?
@connorbush lol, that's why I clicked on this topic.
Will someone craft me some Green Bay Packers paraphernalia?
@phatmass I think I have a green pea pattern. Is that close enough?
@phatmass How to craft Green Bay Packers stuff:
1) Go to the supermarket
2) Find the Dairy section
3) Get the cheese made by Kraft
4) Smear liberally about the head and shoulders.
Done. Krafted GB stuff. You're welcome.
Pssst, Meh, closeout craft kits would be an awesome thing. Many crafters would (say) make post-Easter bunnies for the pure hilarity of it. Possibly in time for Halloween.
@madamehardy Any kit that was offered I would gladly purchase, no matter what the theme. Hey @snapster, @dave, @moose and @everyone else, any chance we could get some cool craft stuff?
@madamehardy I fully support this thought. I will support it with my dollar bills too, Meh.
@koalamoo @conandlibrarian @madamehardy @snapster, @dave, @moose and @everyone I also feel this way. Perfect for a 2-for-Tuesday too
@madamehardy Yes--great idea. Would be fun for post-holiday doldrums.
What do you guys do with this kind of stuff when you are done? I like to make amigurumi, there are so many cool patterns. But then... I end up with a bunch of little stuffed soft things and I have no idea where they go after that.
@metageist haven't decided yet, though some may end up in the hands of fellow Mehicans when certain events happen ;)
@metageist There is a group home up the street from me. If I was talented enough to do things like this, I would probably end up donating them.
@ConAndLibrarian I was going to say something like that. Donate them to a center for abused and neglected children.
Woot has a crochet project book up at the moment
http://sellout.woot.com/offers/yummy-crochet-projects-book-2?ref=so_cnt_wp_4_1
at $14.99, it is a bit too expensive for me. It definitely looks fun!
@conandlibrarian that's what the doughnut is from only I paid $4.50
@Foxborn I totally just came here to ask you if that was the kit! It turned out really nice, and you got an amazing deal on it. I keep on buying books to crochet food, and then not doing it. It's becoming a problem.
@mossygreen me too though it's broader than food, It's all thing cute. You should see my piles of pattern books
@conandlibrarian I got that, too for my daughter then randomly got a boc.
@Foxborn I suspect I would quite enjoy seeing your piles of pattern books.
I just saw this as a good opportunity to remind people about the Beastie Boys.
While some of our crafters are gathered here, I was wondering if anyone has experience with an embroidery machine?
@cf1 I believe @registered may be able to answer a few embroidery machine questions
@cf1 I've used one a handful of times but probably can't offer any real advice
@stardate820926 Same here.
Not sure this qualifies as "crafty" but sometimes I'll kill a few hours tying up these when I'm not out flying drones or robbing gas stations...
@ruouttaurmind They only count if send me one in Tardis Blue and Pinkie Pie Pink.
.
.
Did that make me a geek?
@Foxborn But Pinkie Pie is TWO colors of pink. Which pink is "Pinkie Pie Pink"?
Oh... uh... did knowing who Pinkie Pie is make me a geek?
@ruouttaurmind Which ever matches Tardis Blue. and there are many reasons to know who Pinkie Pie is. Like if you have Kids or know Kids. My excuse, I mean REASON is that I grew up with them in the 80's and still love 'em
That design is looking so amazing it would look more good on the fabric.
Good job!
