Nope.
I use my AT-PL120 with a Shure M97xE cartridge almost every day now. They don’t make the PL120 anymore I think, it’s now the LP120.
I’ve gone through a few turntables in the last 5 decades from my first Garrard to my amazing Technics 1200 with that great Shure V-15-III cartridge through the 70’s (with a Phase Linear 700 & AR3a speakers), a few lesser known known ones and now the AT.
I’m happy with it.
@therealjrn LOL… I actually have 5 record players at home… For the Victrola, I purchased some soft-tone needles to make it slightly less loud.
Another Goodwill find was this portable Birch 1-tube player:
And this 1950’s Philco only plays 78 RPM records and AM radio:
