FIREWORKS!!!
12At my mom’s and we sat in the best spot to watch the fireworks. We could see them shooting them off from the ground, no trees, building or even people in the way. They filled the sky right over our heads we were so close. It was PERFECT!
Anyone else see some good ones?

Tulsa Drillers shoot theirs off from the outfield. It’s pretty close and nice.
I was surrounded for about two hours. It was amazing
No — most firework shows were cancelled here in SE Texas due to rain deluge today over 6 inches of rain and many streets flooded —saw a few fireworks that the neighbors shot off tonight so meh on the fireworks
@AttyVette You can’t seem to get a break from flooding can you.
@Kidsandliz no afraid not— maybe I should go where people need rain and help them out
Only on TV, and some bootleg ones at a nearby park. The town did theirs on the 3rd and we both got out of work too late to even try t find parking and walk to a good viewing spot.
The bootlegs were nice but the police seem to be cracking down hard this year; kept hearing sirens after every few kabooms.
China killed fireworks for me. During Chinese new year, there are fireworks almost non-stop for a good week. Then you have other holidays that include them. I’ve become a grump. I didn’t go watch at all. They just bring up memories of being annoyed.
Ours were off the chain again…we had sparklers, snap-n-pops, smoke bombs and snakes!!
@reubenjet I am presuming those little pellet things that you light and then they grow into snakes. Yes?
@Kidsandliz Bingo!
@reubenjet We “play” with those still. Put them on the slate stepping stones and amaze and dazzle the under 7 or 8ish set.
@reubenjet
/giphy joe dirt snakes and sparklers
I went to the Boston ones (which are spectacular and have ruined me for other displays) but showed up at the last minute without thinking about the wind direction and got ash in my eye and missed most of them rinsing it out… (not actually sure there would have been anywhere better nearby though. should have watched from indoors.)
@ciaccona Too bad about the ash. Hope your eye is OK. I bet they’d be good. I worked on a boat out of the Boston Harbor once (“tall ship” - schooner, but we were in NYC for fireworks. Saw the July 3rd ones anchored off the Statue of Liberty that year and then been docked various places to see them on July 4th (in the parade of sail too - once as a guest of the Uruguay Navy sail training vessel). Norfolk VA can have some decent ones. Again watched them from a “tall ship” (again a schooner).
@Kidsandliz Yeah, apparently I blinked it out right before I got to the bathroom, which made me feel extra stupid.
They’re supposed to be fantastic from boats in the Charles. I always think about doing that, and then remember that the post-fireworks boat traffic is worse than the foot/car/subway traffic. I live super close to MIT (and can actually watch the fireworks out of my window but decided to get closer this year) so I always get to be smug about how soon I get home afterward.
Went to the beach on the north shore Tuesday night for a pretty good show. Saw Boston’s from my son’s apartment on the 10th floor near government center garage on Wednesday. New grandson provided all the sound effects we needed. Have to say, beats anything I’ve ever seen in upstate NY…
