I watched this since I’m not that far from Palm Beach and someone recommended it to me. It was on my list but I just put it to the side until they recommended it personally.
I’m disgusted. Sadly not that surprised that the money hid everything.
I’m really curious what is going to happen with everything being reopened and Ghislaine now being investigated.
@RiotDemon I mostly play on xbox. Rainbow Six Siege, Halo, Rocket League, and random multiplayer games here and there.
I tried playing that one game you posted that one time but you never played it again!
@ELUNO I tried to play the campaign and had a hard time with the controls and then whatever was going on IRL, I honestly totally forgot. Was this at the beginning of quarantine?
I only have an old laptop and older consoles so I’ve been thinking about getting a dedicated gaming desktop.
I thought about getting the newest Xbox, but I really want a computer that will be more useful for 3d printing and maybe getting into VR.
I just have so many things I need to do to upgrade my house that I’m overwhelmed with everything and don’t know where to start.
@RiotDemon ha, same here. I got a house just before covid, so I had plenty of time to work on upgrades.
I think I’ll be getting the new xbox unless it’s crazy expensive. I have a gaming laptop but it’s about to die. The screen might die soon and my extended warranty is about to end as well, so it’s a race to see which one goes out first.
Designing 3D things to print sounds like fun. You can do a lot of stuff to fix around the house!
I’ve printed some practical stuff, but mostly it’s just fun things and decorations. I actually have Fusion 360 but my laptop has a hard time running it, so no designing for me. Just using the slicing software to prep premade stuff is a chore sometimes. Currently my printer needs repairing, so that sucks. I finally got it running fairly well and something broke. I need to pull it apart to fix it and that sucks because then I’ll have to get it running smoothly again.
Sometimes I wish I was work from home because I feel like I’d get more stuff done, but somehow I doubt it.
I really need to do my kitchen but the closest Ikea is still sold out of the cabinets I need to buy. I bought resin for my counters and if I don’t do it this year, the resin might go bad. So I’m on a bit of a time crunch.
I literally have a vanity for my master in my garage, a vanity top for my guest bath, some extractor fans for the bathrooms, an over the range microwave that a vent needs to be pulled through the attic for… I just purchased some windows because they were a hell of a deal… Breaking my wrist messed me up. I’m so weak now, it’s stupid. I’m probably going to have to have surgery to take out the metal hardware in my wrist from an old break.
I need help with a lot of this shit but my brother is busy and I hate burdening people.
@RiotDemon I’ve noticed it flickering a couple of times, but then it goes away and works ok for a week or so before I notice it again. I guess I can try contacting support and see what they say about it.
I had a printer for a couple of weeks but it wouldn’t print from the SD card port (so tying down my laptop hours at a time was a no no) so I ended up returning it. I might get one if there’s a good deal this BF/CM. I didn’t really look into designing anything myself tho.
And that sucks. Yeah doing anything without your hand is pretty much impossible. As long as there is no rush it can wait tho. Good thing you have space to store all of that.
I watched a youtube video of people using resin. I had no idea that was a thing, but it looked pretty cool. How long is it good for?
@ELUNO is definitely try to claim warranty before the warranty is up.
Which printer did you buy?
I’m running out of storage space though, lol.
I looked at traditional countertops but for the color of stone that I actually like, it would of cost around $4700 to do my kitchen. No way in hell was I going to spend that much on a countertop when I’m not replacing my cabinets. I’m just adding a couple so instead of my kitchen being an L shape it will be a U shape.
The resin I bought works best if used within a year. It starts to yellow after that. It won’t matter that much because my counter is going to be mostly dark, but I don’t want to take the chance that it doesn’t cure properly.
@ELUNO it seems simple enough. The best thing, if you don’t like it, you just add more resin on top. I’m worried that I’m going to be such a perfectionist with it that I can’t leave it alone, lol
I don’t know too much about the monoprice printers, but if the sd card reader doesn’t work out of the box, that sucks. Do you have a local maker space where you could try out printers? I found out there’s one by me and they have laser cutters… So of course now I’m curious about those.
@RiotDemon no, not that I am aware of. Which one do you have? I’ve also seen engravers which could be cool, but really wouldn’t have much to do with it. Same with laser cutters, but what can you do with them?
@ELUNO I have the Ender 3. They just came out with V2 which has some common upgrades that people tended to add anyway. If I was going to buy another printer, I’d probably do that one… Or a resin printer. I have no need for more than one printer right now though, so I’m good.
The laser cutters can engrave and cut. You can cut wood and acrylic with them. There’s a lot of modular things you can make. Boxes, puzzles, random garbage.
I’ve noticed it flickering a couple of times, but then it goes away and works ok for a week or so before I notice it again. I guess I can try contacting support and see what they say about it.
This is probably a cable problem. If you’re lucky it’s just a loose connector, but it’s quite likely somewhere you’ll have to rip your computer half apart to access. You’ll probably have to remove the bezel and unscrew the screen and possibly all your hinge covers. It will get worse as time goes on. If you can get a professional to do it under warranty, I’d go ahead.
@ELUNO@Limewater@RiotDemon that really shouldn’t be a cable issue… I’ve never ever seen any thing like that in 2 decades of building computers and some stints running school help desks. They just don’t fall like that.
Capacitors fail and cause flickering when turning on. Back lights can start to go. Lots of things to look at if we knew the monitor.
Just regarding the house stuff… I have made myself a huge list over the last couple years… Don’t get into the trap of figuring out the most efficient order because once you start doing that you may think… well I need to do this first and then do that and then do that and…

I’ve personally seen it twice, on two personally-owned Dell laptops. One was just last year. With cables run through the hinges, and screens opening and closing thousands of times, it’s not too surprising that wear could occur.
I’ve never seen it happen in a desktop, but I wouldn’t expect to.
@Limewater@RiotDemon@unksol yeah, I too think it could be the cable. It was hard to see, but you could almost tell it was almost happening to certain vertical areas.
@ELUNO certain vertical areas points back to the panel/on panel controller. The cable will usually make the whole screen flicker or whole color channels go out (r/g/b) and you can usually make it happen or make it go away by tweaking the angle of the screen. If vertical parts are glitching then you’re looking at the display matrix itself and that controller is usually directly mounted to the panel.
The good news is even if you can’t get it fixed under warranty replacement panels are very doable and usually don’t cost a fortune.
@ELUNO@Limewater@RiotDemon fair point. I was thinking a cable cable. Not a laptop ribbon cable which can wear out but I’ve only replaced them when doing a laptop screen replacement. So the whole thing was bad.

I should watch more tv, but I’m either out with my dog or in playing video games
@ELUNO what are you playing nowadays?
@RiotDemon I mostly play on xbox. Rainbow Six Siege, Halo, Rocket League, and random multiplayer games here and there.
I tried playing that one game you posted that one time but you never played it again!
@ELUNO omg, lol. I totally forgot about it.
@RiotDemon I got a glitch on my very first game where I couldn’t fire, so I was completely confused
@ELUNO I tried to play the campaign and had a hard time with the controls and then whatever was going on IRL, I honestly totally forgot. Was this at the beginning of quarantine?

@RiotDemon ooh that one ended up looking really nice. I feel like I would be terrible at doing that tho. Like following a Bob Ross video. lol
I had a monoprice printer. Can’t recall the exact name but the regular one. Something maker.
@ELUNO it seems simple enough. The best thing, if you don’t like it, you just add more resin on top. I’m worried that I’m going to be such a perfectionist with it that I can’t leave it alone, lol

Better to at least knock out something

@djslack Hooray!
A full system scan won’t detect any issues, so maybe I’ll just drop a cup of water on it.
@djslack @ELUNO is water covered under warranty?
If you tell them the screen issues, you’d think they’d replace whatever it is.
@djslack @RiotDemon lol I was joking. Although I think I do have accidental damages covered…
@ELUNO @Limewater @RiotDemon fair point. I was thinking a cable cable. Not a laptop ribbon cable which can wear out but I’ve only replaced them when doing a laptop screen replacement. So the whole thing was bad.
I guess we super hijacked the thread
@ELUNO all your fault!
