I will also accept photos of fall crap!!! I hate to say this… However, I have had just the slightest change of heart for pumpkin-related foods and beverages!!! Before you ask I still dislike PSL! I will start 1st.

That looks amazing!
I wish I cooked. This is the best I can do right now.
@kerryzero can you keep a secret?
@salvaje
@kerryzero oh, how you have made my day!
I’m still wiping tears from my eyes.
recipe is here
https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/salted-caramel-apple-snickers-cake/
and before you ask, no I haven’t, I just lust at it.
@Cerridwyn that is beautiful
@Cerridwyn @tinamarie1974 that looks super fun. Only thing throwing me off Is that she keeps calling it a Snickers cake, yet it is a spiced chocolate cake. That’s kind of weird.
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
aye
but it is just plain awesome as a centerpiece you can eat. no?
DIPLOMAT! RAT-A-TAT! FAT CAT! AWESOME!
@Cerridwyn @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
perhaps the name refers to the reaction from people seeing those tree limbs sticking out of the apples…?
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @tinamarie1974 I’m tempted to try making this but with a devil’s food chocolate cake instead of the one in the recipe.
@chienfou @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
if you do, pics… or it didn’t happen.
i’m not that courageous of a baker.
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @tinamarie1974 I’m going to print out the recipe when I’m at work tomorrow.
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @RiotDemon yes! Def pics!!
@Cerridwyn you and me both… I have a friend and I will try!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 this will be cake Wars!!!
Things are happening.
@RiotDemon Orange mixer - nice!
@Kyeh it’s the best!!

@RiotDemon Luscious! When I got mine, red was pretty exciting but now they’ve got such a great variety of colors.
So I’m totally winging it and this cake is going to be completely different from the recipe except that it will have chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel.
This frosting is so unbelievably good. I just used cream cheese, peanut butter, vanilla, and icing sugar. I’m still going to make caramel but I didn’t want it to be in the frosting.
I’m cheating.
@RiotDemon did you finish it yet?
@tinamarie1974 haha, no. I’m making the caramel right now. I could of had it made yesterday, but I’m just enjoying my day off.
Oooookay. It’s done. It did not turn out very elegant because even though I followed the instructions for the caramel, it ended up being way too runny and it melted the ganache and it all started to slide off the cake. I waited longer than what was recommended but it still ended up too warm at the end. Frustrating. I didn’t put the caramel apples on the cake because it wouldn’t fit in my fridge at that point. I figure I’ll just eat those separately anyway. My layers also weren’t even because my dumbass didn’t grease the pans enough and I lost part of two of them. Oops.
Either way, it’s delicious as hell. I used the Betty Crocker devil’s food cake recipe.
I think this one will deserve a redo.
@RiotDemon OH, that looks sooooo yummy!
Somehow the way it’s all melty and squashy makes it look even more delicious!
@Kyeh my mom always said that it didn’t matter much what the cake looks like as long as it tastes good. I do wish I would of taken a picture with just the chocolate ganache on top because it was absolutely perfect.
I’ve been snacking on pieces of caramel apple all day. So delicious! I totally forgot to take a picture. They are cut up in a container now. I’ve made toffee before, but never chewy caramel.
It was a good learning experience and I’m sure I’ll ace it next time.
@RiotDemon It certainly sounds like something you need to make again!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 sooooooooo… I found out the hard way I suck at baking… However, I am working on something pretty jazzy.
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @salvaje @tinamarie1974 it’s a learning experience, for sure!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 I like opening the oven waaaaaay too much
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @salvaje @tinamarie1974 that’s what oven lights are for!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @RiotDemon @salvaje @tinamarie1974
That’s so beautiful. And I bet it tastes even better than that!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @RiotDemon @salvaje I don’t know how I missed the reveal. @RiotDemon YOU DID GOOD, you should see the cakes I make…horrible. It is why I 9nly make cupcakes now lol.
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @salvaje @tinamarie1974 thanks guys. Maybe I’ll make it again for Christmas or new years.
I froze a few slices and gave a bunch away to friends at work. I took one of the frozen slices out the other day and it was as good as fresh. I mean, it’s only been a few weeks but I couldn’t resist. I’m sending the rest home with my brother so he can share with his gf.
I’m hoping to make something different next week. Not necessarily fall themed though. Maybe instead of cupcakes I’ll do a cake. Apparently I need a little more practice.
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @RiotDemon @salvaje I made these last week and they were super simple and delicious, if you are interested.
The only changes I made were vanilla sugar on top instead of regular sugar and I made a powdered sugar/milk/vanilla icing to drizzle on top.

@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @RiotDemon @salvaje made them again tonight with on top
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @salvaje @tinamarie1974 yum!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou @f00l @RiotDemon @salvaje you can’t see it but there is white icing on top. I have two left if you want one!!
@tinamarie1974
Just got back from a road trip and would have definitely stopped by for one if we had gone anywhere near STL. Alas, we went to DC instead.

Best I’ve managed. Hopefully you can read the date on top. And while I’m of the opinion that canned/tinned food can’t really go bad.
And I hope we all know dates on food in the US are completely made up. Take your average “experation” date for canned food. Up to that date then add the rest till now. Have not had a use for it in all that time.
@unksol
I completely agree, Betty Crocker website even says that their stuff that is sealed (cake mixes, jiffy mix) is good I definitely, they just might not rise as well past the expiration date.
Aldi had this pumpkin cider in the past and it was really good. The bottle was also fun to open and drink from. I hope they have it back this year.
@tnhillbillygal
assume that’s hard cider ?
licks lips
@Cerridwyn @tnhillbillygal it’s not. Tastes like spiced cola to me.
@RiotDemon @tnhillbillygal
then not worth it
and can you say
/giphy ewww
@Cerridwyn @RiotDemon @tnhillbillygal https://www.traderjoes.com/recipes/beverages/pumpkin-pie-spiced-mule I made it and it was well worth it!
This is cooling on my counter now. I added twice the amount of cinnamon to the glaze, which is why it’s a weird brown color. The few pieces I’ve eaten off it taste really good.
cinnamon apple pull apart bread
@remo28 I need this in my life!
Thanksgiving leftovers I’ve posted before. This our family’s favorite (late) Autumn meal after Thanksgiving itself.
Leftover turkey, chopped into cubes
Equal parts cream of turkey soup (or chicken if you can’t find turkey) and leftover turkey gravy (canned if there’s no leftover gravy like at our house). Make enough for the amount of turkey and noodles you’re making. Add cream if the soup is condensed.
Egg noodles.
Heat the gravy and soup (add cream by preference over milk if the soup is condensed). Whisk to combine well.
Add the cubed turkey and get it warmed up.
Serve over egg noodles.
Utterly decadent and delicious.
@duodec We shred the turkey and and simmer it with gravy serve it on top of rice.
@salvaje That works too; I’m a rice fiend, but our tradition for fall is egg noodles for the base.
I haven’t had a lot of time to be in the kitchen these days. However, I have been eating so pretty stellar food. There will be more interesting things to come!!! OOOOHHHHHH, that smoked turkey leg with the Mac and Chz garnish was pretty effing amazeballs IJS!!!
@salvaje it’s kinda funny. Who garnishes with Mac and cheese?? But that’s ok by me.
@RiotDemon
My favorite fall (and winter) meal would be homemade potato soup. It’s more of an art than a recipe though.
Last time I made it, I put in: potatoes, chopped up baby carrots, what we call Pella seasoning salt (a seasoning salt recipe that came from a Rollscreen recipe book), butter, milk (with a little flour mixed in to help with thickening), all the bacon bits in the house (just the last of one bag and a new small bag), dried celery leaves, dried chives, and a block of cream cheese. Basically it was a “loaded baked potato”-flavor soup.
You could only taste the tang of the cream cheese the 1st day. I added the remainder of the block of Velveeta queso blanco to the leftovers and a little more milk.
@msklzannie Thats sounds sooo good!!!
@msklzannie
Rosemary and chicken
Or
Nutmeg and paprica with cheddar
Bonus tip: almost any kind of leftover can be wrapped in a flour tortilla to take it to the next level.
So I did a thing… Mini Pumpkin Creme Brulee
@salvaje Wow! Sounds delicious!
@salvaje oh lala!!
@salvaje omg. Want!
@RiotDemon I just devoured one and it was pretty Effing tasty!!! There are 2 left I don’t know if they will make it through the night TBH!
@RiotDemon @salvaje I bet they won’t…
@Kyeh @salvaje I’m just waiting for a recipe.
@Kyeh @RiotDemon https://www.tastemade.com/videos/pumpkin-creme-brulee_hands_only
@Kyeh @RiotDemon just follow the yellow brick road my friends.
@Kyeh @salvaje yay! Thanks!
@RiotDemon @salvaje Thank you!!! The video is nice. This would be really fun to serve for Thanksgiving. The tiny pumpkins are so cute!
(Did you resist eating them all the same night?)
