My favorite clownfish trivia. All clownfish are born male but turn female if there are no females. That means Marlin would have turned into a girl in finding Nemo.
Rainbow Shark sounds cool. Sharks are classified as a fish so it counts.
edit: removed photo. Realized you’re supposed to go off name alone. If interested in seeing what it looks like just look it up on Wikipedia. It does look real pretty.
@Rueki they are cool…of course they (and the various other fresh water aquarium fish in the pet stores called “shark”) aren’t actually sharks… They’re more closely related to danios (zebrafish) and Rasboras than they are sharks.
@Rueki But a real disappointment if you’re expecting rainbow coloring. Maybe there’s an actual rainbow variant, but every one I’ve ever seen/owned is just black & red.
@cinoclav idk. When you are just adding fish as a separate word at the end… Clownfish and cuttlefish are both actual words/fish. You seem to like swedish enough to link it to fish when the two are unrelated. And you either only like them because of the product not the name or you must really like swedish. If I said American fish…
Clowns are weird and creepy. I guess some people might like them.
@chienfou@cinoclav well it’s not a fish. If there was a cuddle fish. I would be ok with that equating to me liking cuddles. Clowns are a hard nope. I’m pretty indifferent on cuttling
Patagonian Toothfish. Some very clever marketing specialists realized that the fish were actually fairly good, and in massive supply, but terribly represented on a menu by the uggo name. They gave ol P. Toothy a rebrand, a more attractive initial price. added a lil hype and a pinch of manufactured scarcity, and boom, now Chilean Sea Bass is on every swanky seafood restaurant menu.
I wonder if that business model would work in other industries…?
Catfish, of course.
They’re purrrrrfect, right?
@Tadlem43 I had a bulldog catfish once.
I loved how bulldog catfish is four animal names crammed into one. Bull-Dog-Cat-Fish.
@Tadlem43
@Tadlem43 That is what I had come here to say. How could they have left that off the list considering the cat focus of this place?
@narfcake @Tadlem43
That kitty looks scared!
@Kyeh Well it is bigger than the cat – and look at what smaller ones can do already:
@narfcake Awwwww…

@sammydog01 Old joke:
Tourist: “Where can you get scrod around here?”
TaxiDriver: “I’ve been asked that a lot before, but never in the pluperfect!”
@phendrick @sammydog01
Part of the joke relies upon it being set in Boston.
Today, it works with an Uber or Lyft driver.

@OnionSoup @Rueki true but then you meet a full on bull shark in a river in Illinois and…
Yeah yeah not “aquarium” sized
@Rueki But a real disappointment if you’re expecting rainbow coloring. Maybe there’s an actual rainbow variant, but every one I’ve ever seen/owned is just black & red.

Swedish. Seriously, how is it 6:36 pm EST and this hasn’t been said yet?
@cinoclav I mean per the criteria you just like things with swedish in the name
@unksol That’s not what it says at all. That’s like saying people just like clowns and cuttles.

Idk about people liking to cuttle.

I’d prefer cuddle but I can’t just say cuddle fish
@cinoclav @unksol
and yet… you just did!
@cinoclav @unksol
Well, I think he was pointing out that the question was “but only based on the name.”
@chienfou @cinoclav well it’s not a fish. If there was a cuddle fish. I would be ok with that equating to me liking cuddles. Clowns are a hard nope. I’m pretty indifferent on cuttling
@unksol You try too hard.
