@remo28@sillyheathenIntensity is one of my favorite reads. It takes off on a wild ride in the first few pages and doesn’t let up until the end. There was even a pretty good TV adaptation of it, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere these days.
For his newer stuff, I enjoyed the Jane Hawk series. Major kick-ass heroine!
Grandpa told me the scariest thing you could ever hear is the county agent saying, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”
I’m pretty sure he was right about that, but I never did know who wrote that line. I really don’t think Grandpa just made it up, he wasn’t that cavalier kind of guy.
@mcanavino I can’t think of anyone with a thinner leg to stand on. It is like there are no regulators in publishing. It puts me in such a rage that I may have to take a long walk.
Charles Stross
Rod Serling
Edgar Allen Poe
@Tadlem43
Came here to say that too…
My list includes Clive Barker and Robert R. McCammon,
@yakkoTDI I agree with McCammon, Swansong is fabulous.
@chyzler When I purchased Swansong I read it over the course of one weekend. I am getting ready to read it again once I find my copy.
I used to like Dean Koontz books. Old stuff from like the early 90’s. I really haven’t read much horror since then.
@remo28 same. Definitely a guilty pleasure for me!

Bentley Little
The IRS. Truly horrifying prose.
I’m just sad Joe Hill doesn’t do stand up comedy under his actual name.
Algernon Blackwood
@Kyeh I knew that mouse was smart, didn’t know he wrote books.
@mcanavino Hah.

Monty Pyhton wrote some scary stuff.
Behold, The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog!

@2many2no Ronald Reagan said it.
@Tadlem43 That’s possible, but only if he said it before 1960. That’s about when Grandpa said it.
@2many2no @Tadlem43 The phrase should be “I’m from the government and I am here to SERVICE you.”
On farms when Farmer Brown brought over his bull to meet up with your cows that was called servicing.
@Tadlem43 @yakkoTDI That’s the kind of bull service we’ve come to know and respect.
Richard Bachman.

If you’re all ablaze, why don’t you go running, man ? But watch out for any roadwork.
Pretty much any news writer.
Been through a rough time
Sleep not restful, assets break
I guess I’d say God
Chris Philbrook and Mark Tufo, both scary and funny
While I voted for Mr King, the last great horror story I read was The Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. I highly recommend it.
David Wellington but it’s not really scary, I can’t read really scary stuff.
Clive Barker would have to be my favorite. I also like Dean Koontz & Peter Straub after Stephen King.
Ligotti. And finally his stuff is getting easier to get a hold of, some even on Kindle
A what?
