Bought one. Works well. Best part is that when putting laptops back together, I can prevent overtightening of the screws very easily by simply using a very light grip, allowing the driver to rotate and take my finger off the switch when the screw gets snug.
@cshupe I haven’t looked for one; I like my organic version. Most similar power screwdrivers of my experience are overtorquers even on their lowest setting when dealing with laptop screws. Some of those embedded nuts are in plastic bosses that will shear off if you sneeze too hard.
I bought one of these and it’s AWFUL. It’s way too round and smooth so it’s hard to grip if you have small hands. And it’s simply not powerful enough to handle most jobs.
@shortmars It kind of looked like that to me, and maybe fragile too. I had a B&D screwdriver with removable rechargable batts and it had good weight and handy texture all around as well as a good torque clutch with about 8 settings. Can’t get the proprietary NiCad batts anymore tho.
@cshupe VersaPak? Third party batteries do exist, including some that are lithium ion, but the value proposition versus a newer screwdriver might not make sense. TTC has done a few cordless screwdriver comparisons:
@narfcake that’s a great review series, very informative! I’m guessing this B&D is from the 90s and it’s seen a lot of use. Clutch still works, and I still have the full set! Maybe I should check into those new batteries!

@werehatrack so your hand is the adjustable clutch. Or does it not have a 3 position torque adjustment otherwise?
