oh, I can’t speak to this one personally but I have the Fatnttik XS Max and it’s nice. If you have fiddly hobbies with fiddly screws (micro quads, refurb, retro video games etc) it’s worth it to have an electric screwdriver
When something is offered a second time it is usually cheaper. I bought one of these from you for 20 something dollars and I must say it works great. Besides nearly doubling the shipping from $6 you have raised the price of what I bought sometime last year.
I would recommend this as it is built quite strong and heavy duty, but I kind of wish you sold it for the same price or less as usual.
I would have bought more for gifts and also like last order offered the choice of the air pump for tires, etc. that I wish I bought with it. Good for bicycles and motorcycles, but it doesn’t have enough volume for a car tire to inflate.
@craigcush Greed, tariffs, and “inflation” all playing their part no doubt… Pretty certain it’s made in China, so reciprocal tariffs. You know who to blame.
Glad it’s not the rotary tool for sale. I’ve been tempted with that one but ended up buying the smaller battery Ryobi instead recently and would have been annoyed and have to double up if it was the rotary here today lol.
@jakeline yeah don’t get me wrong, I do like their rotary tool presentation and planned to eventually get one. I just meant I’m happy this deal wasn’t one because I just purchased the Ryobi battery powered one so would have been annoyed lol. I’ve seen the fanttik rotary for about $50-60 which seems a decent price vs Dremel but since I already had a handful of the Ryobi batteries (got on clearance lol), and other tools, I went with their rotary.
I’m not sold on the various other fanttik tools, b like this screwdriver, as they seem over engineered/packaged just to charge more. I don’t mind paying a little more for awesome design exactly but sometimes it seems needlessly complex and purposely limited… Like I believe they have separate tools for rotary, screwdriver and another I can’t think of right now so doing basically the same function but could have been so in one tool with variable speed controls I would think. They do look cool but feels more like vanity tools than functional.
so doing basically the same function but could have been so in one tool with variable speed controls I would think.
@scilynt Not really. While the tools share a similar external design, internally they will be different. A screwdriver is low speed but needs torque while a rotary tool is high speed with less torque. Screwdrivers are like 150 RPM, rotary tools are more like 15,000 RPM. Motor, electronic controls, gearing, collet/bit holder - all will be different. About the only common component is the battery and given the low cost of them nowadays, it’s rather pointless IMHO.
@jakeline@scilynt I have one of their little micro vacuums and I really like it. Works good as a detail vacuum and shockingly good as a blower. Also have one of their folding pressure sprayers – not nearly as much power as even a cheap power washer, but great as a way to have a hose-type sprayer in a spot you can’t reach with an actual hose.
The driver has good reviews, and I’m a tool junkie, but I have a couple of similar (less powerful) drivers that seldom get used, so I’ll pass on this deal.
@JohnQ118 Huh. Looks like it was Torque Test Channel; the video is linked by @tweezak up above. And yeah, the Fanttik did well. I think Project Farm tested the Fanttik cordless tire pump.
@tweezak@werehatrack It was a few weeks ago: “I’ve Never Seen A Screwdriver This Good!” @9:12 minutes in and included Fanttik E1 Max Electric Screwdriver version. It was middle of the pack…as to “best” the Fanttik came in second overall.
@9@JohnQ118@narfcake@tweezak Actually, the Project Farm precision screwdriver video includes a group of cordless electric screwdrivers including a Fanttik, but it looks like it’s a different model.
I have two of these. One from Costco, a refurb from here. My friend “liberated” one of them from me, and I lost my other one in a car break-in. This definitely won’t replace an 18v proper drill, but it is shockingly versatile and I’m going to be sending this link to my friend so I can repatriate mine .
@aetris My other “small” screwdriver is pretty weaksauce, whereas this one can handle higher torque settings. I’ve used it to assemble IKEA stuff, drill holes in drywall, laptop repair, etc. It’s also smaller than my Ryobi drill, so you can fit into smaller areas.
/showme a dark grey cylindrical battery powered screwdriver so powerful that the person using it to screw a board onto another board on a workbench is spinning like the blades of a helicopter, ikea catalog style with motion blur
/showme vertical handheld dark grey cylinder shaped battery powered screwdriver, powerfully spinning the user horizontally like a propellor above a partially assembled Billy bookcase on the floor, ikea catalog style with motion blur.
Got this in a Costco tool kit, it is very well made and works great. Prices sure have risen, that whole kit was on sale for $30. Not a complaint about Meh, more a lament of the state of things.
My current cordless electric hasn’t seemed right since I used it on a higher torque application. Been thinking about a new one. The reviews and videos I’ve seen make me think I’m going to give it a try. I like the case and organization here, too.
Bought this same branded product at Costco a few weeks ago. It was on sale and I couldn’t resist the price. Didn’t have an immediate need for it so I thought, but have used it countless times since bringing it home. The multiple screw/nut drivers are what makes it very handy. Has different torque levels too. Appears the only difference in the one I just bought at Costco is the carrying case. In for another to leave at our cottage.
I still don’t get it. I have a cordless screwdriver already, and it has things like a clutch and rapidly-exchangable batteries (plus when the batteries die I can get new ones.) Had it for 20 years now, from a big-name company everybody’d recognize.
Now, if they made a very small one, meant for using on small things like electronics disassembly, maybe, but nobody seems to make one appropriate for that. I mean, sure, there are smaller ones than this, but none that put the operation buttons in the natural position for that kind of work, near the business end. You don’t hold tools in a fist for precision work, you hold them like a pencil.
I bought one of these the last time they were on sale here. In general it’s great, but one thing is annoying: the trigger button is flat, and very hard to feel. Since the tool is symmetrical, you can’t tell which side has the button, making it awkward to use in tight spaces.
I got one of these last time as well, works pretty well for its size. Only downsides are, 16 bits seems like a lot… it’s not, but at least they’re the standard 1/4" size, so should work with most bit sets out there.
Also, the case definitely is form over function. It’s way bulkier than necessary due to the fancy (and unnecessary,) magnetic and spring loaded latching.
I have one and I’m fond of it. The comments about not being able to easily feel where the switch is are accurate. The purely cylindrical shape does have some implications for gripping it tightly when using it. The light is actually pretty convenient and they seem to have made some good assumptions for when it should be activated.
I would like to discuss my purchase. But, alas, I don’t have it yet. FedEx should be 4 or 5 days to me from you but not so much. the FedEx route goes to Ohio location which is normal for my area. Then to Kansas. Then to Indianapolis (farther and less direct than the Ohio location). Then to a different Indiana location. And I still don’t have an estimated delivery date from them. I get that it is only $10 bucks, but with this kind of service, the value goes out of a purchase with such bad shipping service added into the equation.
I ordered mine on Feb 23, and as of Mar 11 it’s still not here. For $6 shipping I’d be ok with that, but $10 and no delivery yet bugs me.
Checking FedEx tracking it’s sat for a couple of weekdays with no movement at a couple of their facilities. FedEx sent shipment info to USPS on Mar 8, but unlike Elvis, it hasn’t left the building. So it’s basically inching its way here. Very disappointing.
I do have three other Fanttik tools that I like. Will this drive IKEA screws properly? I hope so as it’s laborious by hand, and a couple of bargain drivers don’t cut it.
One thing I didn’t notice on any of these was the 90-day warranty. That is disappointing.

@mediocrebot @phendrick I suspect the ass is a four-fingered human wearing an ass costume.
@cfg83 @mediocrebot Most people don’t bother with the costume.

@scilynt I’m the opposite: I’ve been on the fence about buying a rotary tool, and I was super excited until I realized this was the screwdriver
@jakeline yeah don’t get me wrong, I do like their rotary tool presentation and planned to eventually get one. @jakeline @scilynt the third one is a soldering iron.

Similar Fantiik tested here. Great channel, btw.
@tweezak lots of great information. thanks!
@tweezak I bought the Amazon branded one because of their videos on them…amazing little driver!
@tweezak My friend gave me the SKIL. I like it, especially the light that comes on when you use it.
The driver has good reviews, and I’m a tool junkie, but I have a couple of similar (less powerful) drivers that seldom get used, so I’ll pass on this deal.
wasn’t this on Project Farm as a “Recommended”?
@JohnQ118 I think it wasn’t this exact model, but I know that the tested version of the Fanttik scored high.
@JohnQ118 Huh. Looks like it was Torque Test Channel; the video is linked by @tweezak up above. And yeah, the Fanttik did well. I think Project Farm tested the Fanttik cordless tire pump.
@werehatrack thanks! in for one.

@9 @JohnQ118 @tweezak @werehatrack FWIW, PF’s comparison were for precision screwdrivers.
TTC did do a more recent comparison, but this Fantik wasn’t a part of it either.
@9 @JohnQ118 @narfcake @tweezak Actually, the Project Farm precision screwdriver video includes a group of cordless electric screwdrivers including a Fanttik, but it looks like it’s a different model.
@9 @JohnQ118 @tweezak @werehatrack The electric screwdrivers PF reviewed were for 4mm “precision” bits too, not 1/4".

@ryanbruce “shockingly versatile”? Do tell!
@aetris @ryanbruce That describes it when you use it with wet hands… or in the bathtub.

Been waiting for these to get cheaper yet they’re getting more expensive. Guess i don’t need one.

Can drill bits be used and would this be effective in drilling holes?
@werekong There’s no chuck for regular drill bits. Hex shank can fit, but screwdrivers are geared for driving screws, not drilling holes.
If you need to drill, get a drill.
I bought one of these the last time they were offered. They are like a Volvo. Boxy but good
