@mick the AA &AAA batteries last time around. While I don't think it was men's fault and they resolved it pretty quickly. I still don't want to order cheap AA or AAA batteries.
@sohmageek I bought those batteries last time and I'm still using both sets. AND they refunded EVERYONE regardless if yours worked or not. What do you mean 'fool me'? The cash is in your pocket bro.
@Rakaim no I don't blame hem for any of it. I just won't buy batteries. No need for it now. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with that. I was just (poorly) stating no more cheap batteries for me. I'll use rechargeable batteries. Less chance for acid issues. And for baby stuff I prefer safer!
All the batteries in the pictures expired in September 2014... But the description says they won't expire until long into the cyberpunk future world of 2024 AD... Are we safe in assuming that the batteries in the picture are NOT from the batch being sold?
@curtise Eveready inexplicably prefers to label their batteries with the manufactured date, rather than the expiration date. These were made last September and are good for ten years.
@curtise I see two possible date codes in the pix. Oh, the text says "Manufactured Fall 2014". Perhaps the manufacture date is 09-2014, and the expiration is 12-2024.
However, the actual warranty is only 1 year according to the Meh specs, so it's all moot on day 366 anyway. Just have to hope they don't leak like the other ones.
@mick Well, I do have kids, but they are currently the non-helpless variety. This picture was just the first one that came up when I did a google image search of my order number.
@PurplePawprints I thought that was your new baby. I have got to slow down on my drinking and mehing. My 2 girls are in their 30's way bigger pain in the ass now then they were then!
These were $3.88 for 24 at Home Depot on Black Friday. These are good batteries. When you cancel VMP why don't you get the rest of the month you already paid for?
@Jetlag It used to be that way but it has been changed to cancel as soon as you cancel. VMP does more than free shipping to encourage people to not cancel. They randomly send crap to VMP members except they haven't done that in a very long time.
What you should do is sign up for VMP, use it for 30 days. Then, keep it for another 29 days then cancel. You will be charged $10 total for the two months but the second month will automatically be credited back to you if you didn't buy anything.
@cengland0@Jetlag and based upon my experience, you can push right up to the deal on the midnight (Eastern) of the renewal date. In other words, you can buy that deal right after midnight and then cancel. The renewal does not hit you. But I guess, technically, the renewal date has not yet hit from Meh's time zone perspective.
In for one. Last battery purchase from here was an epic fail (does anyone say that anymore?) but I can't resist and I need to justify my VMP this month. Please don't send me shitty 'sploded batteries again!
@daveJay I would be in the same boat but imagine what damage could occur if you put those batteries in something and then they leak?
Maybe if you use it in something that only lasts a couple days and then needs replacement so you can check on their status every few days; however, I'd be concerned putting them into something that you don't look in the battery compartment for a long time such as a TV remote control.
@SteveOOO I have MY stash of good AAs. These I will put in a box in the living for the kids to grab whenever they need, so that I always have decent batteries when I need them. I am restocking the box from the very first batch of batteries Meh sold.
Jesus on a stick!!! I just went to woot for the first time in like 3 or 4 years. Wow... first of all, it's a fucking Dyson, typical. But literally, of the entire page, about 5% is the 'deal' and 95% of the page is other garbage. I'm serious, it was almost difficult to tell what the real 'deal' was. slow clap way to go zon... way to go...
I think I might make a Meh comment bot, that will scrape the comment thread every so often looking for word-word-word and auto replying with the first google image result... nah, too much work. Plus, it would probably get pretty-damn-annoying.
As an FYI, I noticed a month ago the last set of AA batteries (from December) started leaking. Meh support hid behind the weak 90 day warranty, as if batteries should spontaneously combust as their coverage expires.
Super disappointed in the product and "customer service" interaction. Really turned me off to Meh.
@cengland0 Yes, it's entirely reasonable for an individual to have to use 40 AA batteries within 90 days. It should be of no concern that these batteries could have severely damaged expensive electronics. And nevermind the previous "recall" Meh did of the AAA batteries from the same provider (that surprise! were also leaking). It's obviously the buyer's fault.
@Mzsleeper02 What do you think the length of time a company should give a warranty on a AA battery?
I used to work in the retail industry and customers would bring back batteries saying they didn't last as long as they thought it should. Should that be covered under a warranty? Put it in your remote controlled car and play with it all day and then return the batteries for a refund because they didn't last all week? At what point is the customer being unreasonable?
If you bought a car and it comes with a 3 year warranty and you encountered a defect on the 4th year, do you think the dealer will fix that for free? Why should it be different for a battery? Companies need to set limits.
@cengland0 I'm not sure your point re: refunding batteries for being drained. Did you miss where I said they were leaking battery acid all over each other in their packaging (e.g., unused)? Meh had already refunded customers for the same problem in the AAA set they sold.
To your other point: car manufacturers are on the hook to fix prolific problems with their vehicles all the time (even those outside of warranties). It's called a recall.
Are you done white-knighting Meh yet? I doubt a company that brings in millions upon millions in revenue needs you rushing into the trenches to defend them.
@Mzsleeper02 Contact the government with your safety concerns and have them force a recall on the batteries and then you would be covered.
Also, have you even tried going directly to the manufacturer? Meh couldn't help you because it was too long before you contacted them. Try it, you might get lucky. If you're too lazy to do that then that's your problem.
So just bought some... With this I have several hundred batteries... But guess you can never have too many. I'll maybe take some to Coding Pirates and give to them for Lego mindstorm
Still have my Fujitsus from two battery sales ago. I bought two boxes and I am still on the first box. If you had AAAs you would of had a sale for my battery hording butt. But for AA only, meh. Maybe next time if I can finish these things.
Take the hint Meh! WE WANT AAA BATTERIES! And like others have said most of us are still working through the AA Fujitsu batteries we bought months ago.
Batteries really get me juiced! But, one very important question...how did you get them to match the meh-smiley packaging? I hope we aren't paying extra for fancy smancy packaging are we?
Oh yeah...I agree...where are the AAA batteries? I could be jolted into buying those too...(/end bad jokes)
I see now. You're referring to today's poll question.
Most of the time, generic drugs are just as effective as their brand name counterparts. I use mostly generic and they are working for me. There may be some rare specific cases where the brand name is necessary and the doctor will write on the prescription that the brand name is medically necessary. With all the pills I take, I wish more of them were generic.
$400/month for a brand name drug is outrageous. I understand they are trying to make up for their loss due to research and development but there's a point where they are ripping you off. When it comes to drugs, you are a captive audience and sometimes don't have a choice. It could mean life and death. That's sort of unfair.
@cengland0 you're free to start your own pharmaceutical company and altruistically give your R&D recoveries, product liability reserves (especially for US sales), and risk-return profits away. But good luck staying in business or going public.
@RedOak The problem is with price gouging. The same company will sell the exact same drugs to other countries for much less. How is that fair? It's because of our insurance system will pay almost whatever they ask so they ask for crazy amounts.
@cengland0 no worries, take the profit out of drug development like we are doing with govt healthcare and those leading edge drugs will no longer be developed. No drug. No "price gouging". Problem solved.
@RedOak I don't have a problem with companies making a profit. However, there should be laws that says that companies are not allowed to offer products or services to one person (aka country) for less than another person (aka country). It's almost like discrimination. Just because I was born in the USA, I am forced to pay a higher price.
It's the same problem with doctor visits. Because I have insurance, my doctor get paid around $65 per visit. If I didn't have insurance, the doctor would get paid over $200 for the same visit. In my opinion, if they accept a $65 payment from anyone, they shouldn't charge any more than that to anyone else. They should have their prices posted so you know what the costs would be before you are given the services.
What got me mad recently was with a recent doctor visit where I was told they were going to be doing a random drug test. I took their test and then they handed me the prescription. A couple months later, I received a $1,900 bill for the pee test. Now that's a scam. It's not a test I wanted nor needed but had to get before they would give me my needed prescription. Had I known that ahead of time, I would have asked to go to my local lab where they charge $297 for the same test (and I'm certain they are making a profit on that price too).
@cengland0 I don't like those situations either. But the govt (both federal and state) is what caused those anomalies in the first place. I'd like to see the govt out of most of it.
And I don't' simply accept what my doctor says without getting an explanation why. That includes all tests - those can be gotchas with surprise bills. He totally understands and that's one reason I stay with him.
BTW, all those extra tests? Often as a result of frivolous malpractice lawsuits. I have surgeon friends who are very honest and highly thought of in their specialities. They still get sued. In court "Did you do test xxx? No, well you should have (because it sounds bad in front of the jury). "
BTW2: want to save money on tests? Price them out at private services. Especially radiological stuff. Can be a dime on the dollar.
@RedOak It was explained to me what the drug test was for. Some of the medication I'm using can be abused by druggies and our state law requires that the doctors perform random drug tests.
What wasn't given to me was the option to have the test done elsewhere nor was it explained that there would be an additional fee for that test.
I went to a foot doctor and was given ankle braces. He said they would charge the insurance company for them. They did -- $450 each for $900 total. My co-pay was 20% for $180 out of pocket. I later found the exact same braces on Amazon for $100 and they are making a profit at that price (even with free shipping). If the doctor charged $150, I wouldn't be as angry. But the price they did charge is absurd.
I was too tired to go look at the supply closet so I ordered these. Today I find that I have plenty of AA but need AAA. Then two sets of remote batteries reported in dead pretty much at the same time. Maybe they heard reinforcements were arriving. divine-baleful-stem looks like this, in my image library, right @lisaviolet@sammydog01 ?
@superdesi You mean VMP. Yes it's worth it. If you're buying today's product, it's best to sign up for VMP because it is the same price as shipping. Then you get 30 days of free shipping if you decide to buy something else.
Without VMP, you would pay for shipping each time you bought a product.
If you don't buy something before your VMP autorenews, you can cancel and not be charged for the VMP membership again.
Was getting real close to a low battery supply freak out. These came at just the right time. We go through batteries like crazy. Do wish for some triple A's though. private-listless-feta
@mellowirishgent I fear your humor has gone right over my head. Did you mean that the 33 cent Quantums are so much better than the 14 cent Everreadies or was it sarcasm about how Staples is stealing, as in ripping folks off with the high price?
The Quantum is designed for higher drain devices, and therefore has a relatively low internal resistance. The Eveready is not advertised for high drain devices, so it probably has a higher internal resistance, although they don't list it on the only document I could find: http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/A91.pdf
@hamjudo DO YOU ACTUALLY EVER BUY ANYTHING ?Show me one retailer that sells 24 AA quantums for 7.99...and of course the everyreadys store for 10 years ...your cluless so much research to prove yourself wrong go buy some things maybe you will understand the retail market and quality, not all things are made the same although they may look the same.Do you actually have any idea how a better quality battery is made? i think not ,you just did some 20 min research to respond to a simple comment i made and i said the meh deal was a great deal ..You must be one bored dude but ty anyway for the fountain of useless info ..
Off topic but received my Contigo cups today and must say im very pleased with that purchase like all the things i have bought from Meh and looks like my ice cream maker also shipped today so ...im a happy camper
@PenguinOnTheRox I still have mine. My kids played with it a bit before they got tablets. Also, my mom would never buy batteries for it so I could only play it plugged in. :-/
@PenguinOnTheRox ohhh man I loved my Game Gear so much! During the summer when we were at daycare my friend I would sit next to the outlets and try to see who could beat Sonic faster.
@emt305 Sorry, can't help myself. Let's see if we can track it down for you. Go to https://meh.com/orders and scroll until you find the battery order. Click on the "Discuss my rad purchase" button at the bottom of that order. This will take you to that order's discussion page. Once there, you can either search for the staff comments relating to the leaking batteries, or you can just put your comment there, and I'll poke around for you.
Opened mine up and expiration is 12.2024. No leakers. Did a battery check on a few just to see - fully charged. Perfect and thanks. Myriad of toys pulled out once in a blue moon - here ya go!

MEH!!!
That's a lot of batteries that I don't need.
Meh, at least it's not a speaker dock or a quadcopter, but something unique would be a welcome sight.
@Portlis
The real question is whether or not Irk could withstand a bath in battery acid.
@pholvey ACCCCIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!
Amazon link is wrong.
@wa27 Thanks, fixed that!
are you sure this time?
Need trip-a. But what the hell. In for 1.

Meh... Fool me once.... Not again...
@sohmageek you don't get fooled again.
@sohmageek What do you mean?
@curtise I believe the PD date is the package date, but their own FAQ page indicates only a 7 year shelf life, despite the package claim of 10 years.

However, the actual warranty is only 1 year according to the Meh specs, so it's all moot on day 366 anyway. Just have to hope they don't leak like the other ones.
KuoH
5 batteries on the mouth in the meh button only 4 in the pic. Please fix. This is bugging me.
@crapstick
@crapstick maybe they're just different faces...
@crapstick Is it bothering you more than it should?
I think I have enough batteries from meh to last me at least until these expire in 2024.
In for one. We'll see. Oddest first image result I've ever gotten. smelly-shivering-cilantro
@PurplePawprints Best first image result! I love moms
@PurplePawprints The most precious feeling you will ever feel. One you will always remember. I am so happy for you.
If it wasn't for VMP, I'd probably pass on this. But I guess I could use more batteries, even though haven't touched the ones I bought last fall.
"Won't expire until long into the cyberpunk future world of 2024 AD" .....Once you start using them, they won't last till September 2015 AD
Wish they were AAA...
@duodec So we could use them in the controllers for the quads we bought yesterday - Remote controller power: 2 x AAA batteries (not included).
Oh, they'll fit the controllers for the Sky Runners I bought last mehth.
@sligett Among other things, yep. However I bought some of these anyway...
@duodec could use some 9 volts too.( And yes AAA) Throwing that out there in case a meh buyer wants to know.
@duodec Me too.
For $10 I'm losing money by not buying it! bouncy-quarrelsome-swashbuckler
@twofivefive I love this movie - Errol Flynn in Captain Blood.
@twofivefive The only true Swashbuckler was the Apple ][ version:
@twofivefive May i refer you to Monkey Island next time...
@duodec I had that game! It was cool for the time.
With our mighty chargers we can charge these many times. Maybe?
i still dont need batteries...... ever...... free batteries are good batteries
These will be great for replacing the 4 batteries I used from the last pack!
I haven't used up my last pack of double A's from meh, but I know I will, and when I do I'll wish I had these. In for 1. futile-tropical-nymph!

In for one. Last battery purchase from here was an epic fail (does anyone say that anymore?) but I can't resist and I need to justify my VMP this month. Please don't send me shitty 'sploded batteries again!

This is one of those "if it's still there tomorrow afternoon deals" I'll get it. I just have so many AA batteries thanks to meh.

Then two sets of remote batteries reported in dead pretty much at the same time. Maybe they heard reinforcements were arriving. divine-baleful-stem looks like this, in my image library, right @lisaviolet @sammydog01 ?
@OldCatLady How is it when I am scrolling quickly and see one of these pics I know it is you OCL? ;)
@OldCatLady Thanks for buying batteries.
@sammydog01 It's called taking one for the team. Right?
ashamedly-demonic-phoenix
My images are never as awesome as @OldCatLady's.
@lisaviolet I get almost all of mine from https://www.facebook.com/SusanAndersenFanPage?fref=ts, and she has plenty to go around. There's a whole series of figureheads that I have lined up to use.
is the VIP membershit worth it?
@superdesi You mean VMP. Yes it's worth it. If you're buying today's product, it's best to sign up for VMP because it is the same price as shipping. Then you get 30 days of free shipping if you decide to buy something else.
Without VMP, you would pay for shipping each time you bought a product.
If you don't buy something before your VMP autorenews, you can cancel and not be charged for the VMP membership again.
@cengland0 Or you can be like me and out of apathy never cancel your VMP.
Eveready by Energizer. Hmmm
Am I the only one who remembers when it was Eveready Energizer batteries (1989)
@olperfesser No, I remember it, and now the tune is running through my head. Make it stop! Eveready Alkaline Energizers!
@OldCatLady @olperfesser wow you guys really are old
@superdesi No, old is when one remembers Eveready by UnionCarbide.
Meh.
Was getting real close to a low battery supply freak out. These came at just the right time. We go through batteries like crazy. Do wish for some triple A's though.

Awesome deal but a month or so ago Staples had quantums 24 pk for 7.99 now thats a steal !!!!
For comparison, the Quantum datasheet has a lot more information: http://ww2.duracell.com/media/en-US/pdf/gtcl/Product_Data_Sheet/NA_DATASHEETS/QU1500_US_UL.pdf Note that you can't really compare the batteries, as we have no data for the Eveready Gold except "2850 mAh" under unspecified conditions.
HomeDepot rates the Eveready Gold at "1250 mAh" under presumably different unspecified conditions. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Energizer-Alkaline-AA-Eveready-Gold-24-Pack-A91BP24HT/204224477#specifications
@hamjudo Read your own comments "Note that you can't really compare the batteries"
@hamjudo Do not ever engage him. It is always a bad idea. Never, ever engage him for any reason.
@PurplePawprints Thanks for the tip, it was definitely a mistake on my part.
@hamjudo Yeah dont engage me never ingage me to friggen funny

fearing-damaging-rye
and for some reason i cant post image because it kills my browser.
Meh, I'll wait until my current supply is low.
Was out shopping this afternoon and discovered these at the Dollar Tree.
Now I wonder why I bought plain old Meh batteries when I could have bought these designer ones.
@Teripie hehe love um
I wish Meh would sell more than 1 item a day. Maybe 5 killer deals each day, it would be so awesome.
@jim7larson No, it would not be 'so awesome'.
@jim7larson @PurplePawprints is right, it would be horrible! Meh has just got to stay Meh.
@jim7larson Wouldn't that just be woot?
@jim7larson wait 1 speaker dock ,1 set of glasses, 2 helicopters and a head phone .. question what would they sell on day 2? lol
How long does it take to receive my order? First timer here.
@jwalden335 Lately, Meh shipping have been really on the ball with my orders and I've received some within 3 or 4 business days being 2 states away.

Yes I want 3 packages of 72. Thank You
Wish I had a deal like this back when I had a Game Gear!
@PenguinOnTheRox I still have mine. My kids played with it a bit before they got tablets. Also, my mom would never buy batteries for it so I could only play it plugged in. :-/
@PenguinOnTheRox ohhh man I loved my Game Gear so much! During the summer when we were at daycare my friend I would sit next to the outlets and try to see who could beat Sonic faster.
what a deal.
Bought some of the AAA & AA batteries offered a few months ago & can't find the email regarding which ones I should trash. Remind me please?
@emt305 Whichever set starts leaking.
@Thumperchick Ha. Ha. Aren't you a clever little clover.
