Ever listened to Disturb's rendition of Sound of Silence?
19I’m not a big fan of Disturbed, but their rendition of The Sound of Silence is chilling:
The album it is on happens to be $1 on Google Play today (where this song alone sells for $1.29…)
Definitely give it a listen.
Goo Goo Dolls just released an album this year that’s on sale for a buck as well. It’s a little more poppy than I like for them though.

Thx. Listened & purchased.
Yes. When their cover first went out onto Youtube, I listened to it at least a dozen times. It was stuck in my head for weeks. Chilling is a good word for it.
He’s certainly more talented than would have ever dreamed he was. As far as buying the entire album, it’s not my cup o’ tea. Thanks for letting us know!
Never thought I’d buy a disturbed album. First time for everything I suppose. Thanks
@Pantheist @sammydog01
A little more energy but here is some more disturbed covers.
Edit they do play their own stuff too.
@caffeine_dude I was extremely excited when Land of Confusion came out. I love the original, but Disturbed brought it more up to my speed.
@RiotDemon I loved Sweet Dreams from The Eurythmics, (thanks MTV) then Marilyn Manson remade it and it is his own song but I am not ashamed to say I love it.
@caffeine_dude that song got me interested in Marilyn Manson. I really like Portrait of an American Family and Antichrist Superstar. After that it was a little downhill for me.
@Pantheist That was about my exact thought when I bought it too… I doubt I’ll ever listen to the other tracks though…
I like it better than the original. Never heard of Disturbed.
@sammydog01 I don’t know if I would ever say it was better than the original, but it was pretty good.
Only 400 times, it played every 2-3 hours on my radio stream. Noticed it because I would hear it every day 3-4 times.
Disturbed’s version of this song is so much better & emotional than the original! Love it!
While I like the original I have to say this is a step up. Purchased, and thanks for the tip!

Didn’t know about this until weekend before last. At a karaoke bar a kind of metal guy did the Simon & Garfunkel version and kind of tripped up at first. When he walked back after the song I heard him say something like “well that was faster than the Disturbed version”.
Thanks for posting, I forgot to look it up after that night.
Niiiice! Thank you.
Some other 99¢ albums:
Blake Shelton
Twenty One Pilots
Panic at the Disco
I like it. It doesn’t give me chills or anything. It’s a good cover though. I really like how a lot of non Disturbed fans have been affected by it.
I like the more hardcore Disturbed songs and this cover, which is great. Unfortunately it was played on the radio in the car on the way home from having our beloved sheltie Cody to sleep. I can’t listen to it anymore.
@Stumpy91 That’s really I can say about that…
Growing up with the original version of The Sound of Silence and being a long time fan of Disturbed had me confused the first few times I heard this cover. It was awesome but so different I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated it. Love won!
If you like David Draiman check out the band Device too.
Device - Vilify
Radio stations around here played it to death, but will definitely grab the album. Thanks
have to share this…one of the funniest things I have seen in a while…Disturbed’s Greatest Hit!
@turn3john thanks for this. I laughed.
@turn3john
2 million views in 2 years, 23,500 up , 1,400 down , Brandon Mueller does it better, but his ear rings are too small, thanks L O L
WOW. That was just damn amazing.
I have all of Simon & Garfunkel’s music & really think he sang this song amazing! Thank You!!
Nowhere as good as the original, better than the rest of their garbage.
@Fedaykin2112 I thought I was losing it, thanks for posting this. I usually don’t mind updates of classics, but this is way outside my wheelhouse.
Edit… If I’m in the mood for heavy, I prefer Tool, or Helmet, or Rage.
IMO the version they played on CONAN, ( see utube) was better, and (utube again) Land Of Confusion, for us old guys. Oh, thanks for the link.
I work at a music store that does music lessons. I never heard this version until a girl requested to learn it with her teacher. Listening to them play along was fantastic.
