@MehnofLaMehncha As a healthcare worker, if you're actually over 400 lbs, I plead with you to work on that. We'd like to see mehmbers fulfill a reasonable life expectancy.
Does anyone have one of these? Does it do that bullshit where it remembers the last weight so if you get on again and are close enough to the last weight it just shows the same number to look more accurate?
Meh, can you step on one of these a few times to see if it seems to magically have perfect accuracy? Or precision if you want to get technical.
@stoopkid I weigh myself before and after dropping the kids at the pool with a different scale and it can detect the about one lb to two lb difference.
Irk's preferred shopping experience of waiting and waiting and waiting for a daily deal site to have a deal on what you want want pays off! I'm in for one. awkward-thankful-history
@cinoclav Yes, I did know it's the same company. I've even noticed items from Meh popping up on morningsave later (or vice versa). When I've checked, the price was often very close, so I figured it was safe buying from there before I saw it on Meh (since I didn't even know if it would show up). Live and learn. :-/
@pessen I just ordered the Duracell chargers from Morningsave and expect them to be here for half price tomorrow. Stuff does sell out over there sometimes.
@pessen we're still figuring this out but clearly this sucks. I'll see if we can put together a fix for this and future instances where we poach from MorningSave inventories.
So for a while there it seemed like we got nothing but speaker docs, headphones, blenders or some iteration of water bottle or drinking vessel.
I have to say... in the last several weeks I've hopped over to meh.com and my internal dialogue said "Really? I didn't expect to see that here." I have been pleasantly surprised by a few items. I didn't actually purchase most of them, but it was nice to see the sort of variety that includes action cameras, Microsoft Surface tablets, wristwatches and so on.
As I mentioned, most of these weren't something I had use for and didn't purchase, but I was sorely tempted by several of them, and grateful for the variety. Almost seems like the old Meh I started cyber-stalking nearly 2 years ago.
Thanks, guys! Keep up the variety!
PS: A bunch of those DJI Phantom 3 Pro drones might make a nice acquisition. Or even the Standard edition at the right price. Just sayin'.
Anyone doing that already has one. This is an impulse buy for people who know they're fat, but feel like knowing their weight will somehow make them less fat or accelerate their theoretical losses.
@givemeyoursoul Pro tip - It does work. If you're actively trying to lose weight, having that visual reminder every day is proven incentive. Ask anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight - when they see that number going down each day/week, it's proof that what they're doing is working and they're more inclined to stick with it.
As an animated human skeleton, keeping track of my bone density is very important, and this Escali Body Analysis Scale does the trick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In for six in red and of course I got VMP... such a great value!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are the batteries replaceable? The user manual pdf doesn't say how to or what type this takes so I'm guessing not. That sucks, and greatly limits this things usefulness.
How can I be sure this scale is not transmitting information about my fat body to an outside source,a source that may try to sell me As Seen On TV weight loss gadgets !
@dlskidmore This "auto log" feature you speak of. Is it like the Captain's log? Or is it a forestry term? Like when Paul Bunyan sees a forest, he says "I auto log this forest"? What does it have to do with a scale?
@mike808 The Garmin, Fitbit, and Withings versions of this scale (much pricier) record the weights of each weigh-in, and transmit the data over wifi so you can see a graph on your computer. I have other health equipment that logs locally and you can periodically connect a cable to it and download logged data.
Calculate BMI: Body weight (pounds) divided by height, divided by height again multiplied by 703 So, lbs/ht2*703 ex: 5'11" 170lbs. = 170lbs /71"= 2.394/71"= 0.0337 X 703= 23.707 (BMI) 18-25 BMI healthy There, I just saved you $14 +$5 (wo VMP)
@accelerator BMI and body fat percentage are not the same thing. A well-cut weight lifter will have a high BMI because he's "heavy", but he doesn't have a high body fat percentage.
@dlskidmore I've been schooled! You are, of course, correct sir. I had one of these scales before and it was all over the place with inconsistent measurements. I checked consumer reports and they are somewhat ambiguous about the worthiness of the measurements on these scales and the value of knowing bone density as a correlation to health. Also, they couldn't verify the accuracy without subjecting their test panels to intrusive tests to validate measurements.
So, I'm still not clear why I bought one of these last night. I think I'm just not thrilled with the wildly inconsistent BF% readings I get from my old Tanita bf551 (like 9% difference day-to-day). So this will give me something to compare it to.
@jasontoon I've already stolen "spongy folds of wonder meat" in conversation today. It's a keeper, thanks. It led to divergent convo threads amongst truck drivers...
@YoFrodo@Thumperchick Especially these modern digital type, pressure closer/further from the sensors throws things off. I suspect this has much to do with the continued prevalence of mechanical beam scales in doctor’s offices, I’ve only just started to see digital scales show up and they’re very specific about how they want you to stand in my experience.
Did anyone else get their scale in the manufacturer shipping box? There was no shipping label on it so I’m wondering what truck these scales “fell off” from.
@DrunkCat They buy this crap by the case man This is how I get many products from meh… I appreciate the extra box too… I like my product 3 boxes removed from the fedex truck floor.
@sammydog01 I am pretty sure @DrunkCat received it with a shipping label on it but isn’t familiar firsthand with palletized and/or case-level shipping so they were expecting a label from its deliver to Meh to be on it… I think…
@DrunkCat Sometimes meh gets products in wholesale packaging rather than retail. That seems to be the case here. Retail packaging costs more, so enjoy your cheap scale, sans fancy schmancy stickers.
Package never arrived, cannot track FedEx transferred to USPS. States it was delivered 5/26. I have never had this happen. Don’t think I’ll use Meh again.
@joytree You can file a claim with the post office on their website. What is more likely, however, is your mailman (mailperson?) delivered it to the wrong house. That’s happened to me a couple of times.
Either way, file a claim with USPS and they’ll reimburse you.
@joytree the tracking number doesn’t change when Feded hands off to USPS. You need to file a claim with the post office for a lost package. They should be able to reimburse you.
Got it. It works, but the setup icons are so small that I have no idea if I selected man or woman or athletic man/woman.
The manual describes the other things it measures, but I haven’t tried to figure them out yet. They display 3 times quickly and then go away - have to have a pen and paper at hand.
For future reference, the manual makes a big deal about not dropping, banging, or shaking it, so it may be more fragile than you would initially think.
Works well at recording my weight. Unfortunately, the screen/battery part came dangling, nothing a little scotch tape can’t fix. The buttons on top also didn’t work right, but I don’t care, just need need it to weigh my semi-fat ass.
I finally found the right thread. Yep, I opened my scale up today and tried it out. I don’t know what the four series of numbers mean. I’ll go through this thread and the other and try to figure it out. (No matter how I switch the numbers around though, they don’t seem good. I did happen to lose 8 pounds in a month though).
Not so fun fact. According to Escali’s website, this Model BF180 doesn’t even exist.

How much is the Bluetooth add-on?
I think I'll weight this one out...
@clarinetbob That's quite a height to... Oh. Dang.
@clarinetbob
Speaking of weight ... only goes to 400 … so I'm out.
@MehnofLaMehncha As a healthcare worker, if you're actually over 400 lbs, I plead with you to work on that. We'd like to see mehmbers fulfill a reasonable life expectancy.
@MehnofLaMehncha You could just buy two and stand with one foot on each and add them together.
@clarinetbob Price is weigh good!
@MehnofLaMehncha If you weigh over 400 lbs you should DEFINITELY buy this scale. It will instantly make you weigh less!

@kus
Only 400 pound capacity? That takes stones.
@RedOak Almost 29 of 'em.
Baby arm compatible. I'm in.
I thought I'd weigh in with my opinion... Meh
Great. Even Meh thinks I'm fat now. Excuse me while I go cry into my beer.
Does it actually say 0.3? My scale won't even try to weigh something that light. If it does, I'm in for one. Thanks
Weight and see if it sells out :)
Great deal-
This is a heavy decision.
@aaronhurt Not to be taken lightly...
Awesome. A bathroom robot that doesn't even move itself and tells me I'm fat.
@TRD Maybe tomorrow, we can get a Roomba that does nothing but slam into my ankles and tell me it married the wrong guy.
@TRD great. Even a roomba a can find a spouse.
Knowing what you weigh may make you Kilo ver.
How does it get 0.3 when the specs say it measures in 0.2 increments?
@sciencemavin maybe it starts at 0.1
@sciencemavin
Because kilograms.
I already have an object to tell me I'm fat: a mirror
@cpierce Me too. An ex-wife. I upgraded to the BJ365 model.
@mike808 I wish Meh had a deal on one of those. The upgrade, not the ex.
@mike808 After marriage my model reverted to a HJ365.
@Stumpy91 Count your blessings. At least you didn't get stuck with the Anniversary Edition.
// Model: BF180 (we're just going to tell ourselves the BF stands for "Body Fat" because that's kinda funny) //
Was going to go another direction with BF …
@MehnofLaMehncha Back Fat?
@mike808
Yeah, back fat. Let's go with back fat.
@MehnofLaMehncha Butt f..at...?

Why are these things always made of tempered glass? I'd prefer plastic or metal, something less likely to break.
Ugh, I just spent about twice as much for the exact same thing on morningsave.com. Sad.
@pessen did you buy it in the morning?
@pessen I did too. Meh.
@pessen @SweetNSourJess If you see it on morningsave, it's either been here or likely to be here. You do know it's the same parent company, right?
@pessen I did the same thing and I am sad too. Maybe everybody did the same thing. Maybe they are using us as guinea pigs.
@cmrk3 https://morningsave.com/deals/escali-body-analysis-scale Here's the item... It's still more there!
@cinoclav Yes, I did know it's the same company. I've even noticed items from Meh popping up on morningsave later (or vice versa). @ruouttaurmind tl;dr.
We live in a twitter world where anything beyond 140 characters is just overkill.
@elimanningface so you think that the previous comment was weighty and should be scaled back?
@elimanningface IDK, U may live in a 140 char Twitter world...
But I live in a newspaper world. An enviroment of broadsheets and tactile, printed words where verbosity is permitted and clarity is king.
But TYVM 4 Ur feedback.
@ruouttaurmind But in variety we need to get speaker docks too!
shouldn't that baby's arm be holding an apple?
@esocseric yes to be more accurate representation of full hang down
If you feel the need to buy a scale, you're probably fat.
@givemeyoursoul Or you're carefully tracking your weight gain from lifting weights. Don't be obtuse.
@Bladesosteel
Anyone doing that already has one. This is an impulse buy for people who know they're fat, but feel like knowing their weight will somehow make them less fat or accelerate their theoretical losses.
Pro Tip: Doesn't Work.
@givemeyoursoul Pro tip - It does work. If you're actively trying to lose weight, having that visual reminder every day is proven incentive. @givemeyoursoul Or people who have been going to the gym, but hate the gym's shitty scale...
@aknapp Well that may be, but my point still stands......
BEEEFFFCAAAAAAKE!
@givemeyoursoul If you buy a scale from Meh, it'll be really easy to convince yourself it's broken when you start gaining weight.
Personally I use two scales (NOT from Meh) so there's no doubt or possibility of rationalization about my weight.

@robson Near the end of the manual it says the batteries can be replaced and that it uses CR2032 which you can grab on amazon for pretty cheap.

I want this product to sell, so i'm throwing my weight behind it.
The result takes a moment to show, you have to weight for it.
It supports four people; it scales pretty well.
Why have user profiles if it doesn't auto log for you?
@dlskidmore This "auto log" feature you speak of. Is it like the Captain's log? Or is it a forestry term? Like when Paul Bunyan sees a forest, he says "I auto log this forest"? What does it have to do with a scale?

Pass. I won't support this product's profiling of the gravitationally endowed.
I just used my VMP benefits to buy this for twice the amount on morningsave. Damn. It's a heavy load on my mind.

Calculate BMI: Body weight (pounds) divided by height, divided by height again multiplied by 703
So, lbs/ht2*703
ex: 5'11" 170lbs. = 170lbs /71"= 2.394/71"= 0.0337 X 703= 23.707 (BMI)
18-25 BMI healthy
There, I just saved you $14 +$5 (wo VMP)
Interesting that it's double the price on morning save.
Sells right now on eBay for $29.99 - price doesn't compare but it's much less than what Amazon is. Says its new, in box w tags etc.
I have a body analysis mirror. I look in it and I can see I'm fat.
So, I'm still not clear why I bought one of these last night. I think I'm just not thrilled with the wildly inconsistent BF% readings I get from my old Tanita bf551 (like 9% difference day-to-day). So this will give me something to compare it to.
Maybe it's just me.
@bakerzdosen They're all pretty inaccurate, look at long term trends, day to day data on these is nearly useless.
@dlskidmore so you're saying I'll now have two inaccurate data points to go off of.
Great.
@jasontoon I've already stolen "spongy folds of wonder meat" in conversation today. It's a keeper, thanks.

@jsh139 Me too.

I tried to buy mine after being gone all day and it wasn't even midnight didn't let me purchase.
You gave us the dimensions but didn't tell us how much it weighs? Come on guys...
just got mine in today and every time I step on it it gives me a different reading. How do I return this crap?
@YoFrodo The top post of every product thread has a lot of useful info, like the warranty coverage. In this case, you should contact Escali.
I will say that in some cases, scales will have several slightly different readings. How much was it off by?
@YoFrodo @Thumperchick Especially these modern digital type, pressure closer/further from the sensors throws things off. I suspect this has much to do with the continued prevalence of mechanical beam scales in doctor’s offices, I’ve only just started to see digital scales show up and they’re very specific about how they want you to stand in my experience.
Got mine today. Set up profile. Will only report my weight, no other analysis.
@Stumpy91 Were you barefooted and waited till the weight flashed thrice?
@DrunkCat Found my problem. You have to get on the scale right away before it powers off during setup. Website has a short FAQ.
Did anyone else get their scale in the manufacturer shipping box? There was no shipping label on it so I’m wondering what truck these scales “fell off” from.
@DrunkCat what do you mean no shipping label? From the manufacturer to Meh?
@DrunkCat They buy this crap by the case man This is how I get many products from meh… I appreciate the extra box too… I like my product 3 boxes removed from the fedex truck floor.
@DrunkCat So how did it get to your house?
@sammydog01 I am pretty sure @DrunkCat received it with a shipping label on it but isn’t familiar firsthand with palletized and/or case-level shipping so they were expecting a label from its deliver to Meh to be on it… I think…
@DrunkCat Sometimes meh gets products in wholesale packaging rather than retail. That seems to be the case here. Retail packaging costs more, so enjoy your cheap scale, sans fancy schmancy stickers.
@Thumperchick Of all my comments to get this much attention it had to be a low-shelf snark.
@DrunkCat you did get an inordinate amount of replies for this. Perhaps low-shelf snark is your niche?
@jbartus That was a joke, although apparently not a good one.
Got this today. It told me I’m fat. This means it’s accurate. Yay!
@Thumperchick That’s just baby fat
Package never arrived, cannot track FedEx transferred to USPS. States it was delivered 5/26. I have never had this happen. Don’t think I’ll use Meh again.
@joytree have you contacted support?
also, you’re blaming meh for Fedex/USPS losing a package?
@joytree You can file a claim with the post office on their website. What is more likely, however, is your mailman (mailperson?) delivered it to the wrong house. That’s happened to me a couple of times.
Either way, file a claim with USPS and they’ll reimburse you.
Only have FedEx # no tracking # forwarded to me when transferred to USPS
@joytree it’s the same number as far as i’m aware.
It’s same # with a 92 in front. USPS delivered to wrong city, package is gone, oh well…
@joytree the tracking number doesn’t change when Feded hands off to USPS. You need to file a claim with the post office for a lost package. They should be able to reimburse you.
Got it. It works, but the setup icons are so small that I have no idea if I selected man or woman or athletic man/woman.

@josephj11 i cant get anything other than the weighing to work. I set up a profile but no fat% or anything like that. :c
@linnry Did you stand on the scale bare foot? It needs that for the other results.
According to Escali’s website, this Model BF180 doesn’t even exist.
final result = i am fat (or phat)
