His? Trust me, I’m a healthcare professional. That’s not a he.
Wonder Woman’s statue is a little misogynistic doncha think? I mean, why not make it fair and enhance Superman’s bulge as well for the ladies? Maybe with some vein or head contours? Just making suggestions for the “art”.
@aolshove Why don’t you go learn to sculpt so you can make a Superman statue with a veiny bulge if that’s what you want to see?
It would be more constructive than calling things misogynistic on the internet, you’d be learning a new skill, and you’d actually be doing something of value to somebody.
@Kyeh Eh? I never said the male statue shouldn’t get sexed up. That wasn’t the essence of my objection. Maybe it came across as sarcastic, but I would actually be pleased to see @aolshove learn to sculpt then fill an etsy page with big tumescent Superman dicks, because that would genuinely be of greater value to humankind than using the artwork of others as a convenient target to virtue signal on internet forums.
@aolshove@steamwolf Eh, that’s a whole lot heavier than aolshove’s original comment.
The whole genre is pretty misogynistic, the way the (few) female characters are barely covered, while the men are all armored up with hardly any bare flesh. I mean, he IS supposed to to be SUPER-man, after all, so why not make him super manly?
@Kyeh I’m a little confused. I’m saying I don’t have an issue if somebody wants to level up Kal-El’s bulge. Go to town. Have fun.
Would I personally be interested in an elephantine-dicked Superman statue? No, but then I wouldn’t be the target audience, and I wouldn’t feel compelled to go on the forum of the site selling it and be like, “this is kinda misandrist, dontcha think? huk huk”
@Kyeh It was shitty, mean-spirited criticism disguised as a joke. Notice how OP put art in quotes? That wasn’t a joke, it was a judgement that said, “this doesn’t appeal to me, so it isn’t art.” The internet, the world, and our species needs less of it. We need more people creating things and fewer people tearing them down in order to make themselves feel superior.
@steamwolf It’s exactly what people do all the time in the Meh forums, make fun of everything and everyone - haven’t you noticed? I find them slightly absurd myself - nicely done, but definitely ridicule-worthy!
@Kyeh@steamwolf I do think that over the years the cartoon version of people (be it these, barbie dolls, action figures, etc.) have moved more and move away from what real humans look like and moved more to stereotypic male versions of “sexy”, “feminine”, “masculine”, etc. versions of people. When only one sex depicted that way (in this case the woman), then it makes me think about sexism. This comment of mine, in my opinion, applies to more than just these two action figure statues. As a result people talking about making the male figure match that same stereotypic approach used with the woman seems, to me, like fair game.
I am not sure why you are so bent out of shape that these particular statues aren’t some people’s cup of tea. Not everyone is going to like action figure statues. I’d let a kid have cheap one as a toy in their bedroom but no way would I ever buy one for me, let alone display it. That is me and my tastes. In addition not everyone is going to like a stereotypic representation of females. I am unclear why this is a such a big deal to you.
As was already said, the forums make fun of products all the time. This particular set of statues haven’t been singled out in any special way from what gets said about other products.
This particular Wonder Woman depiction is more like a pole-dancer than a super-hero. She’s beautiful, sure; but no indication of her true strength.
This is preferable to me:

I’ve seen large-scale posable figures that replicate the memorable action scenes from the recent WW movies - they can show both beauty AND power.
In all seriousness, I thought these were “cool” at first. Then I thought, “These would make great gifts for my niece and my nephew”. Then I thought more, and decided that I didn’t want to be the reason we adults impose and perpetuate unrealistic body images on our youth.
That’s before even considering other cultural aspects like the overt glamorization of White/Caucasian skin tones in “hero” figures, and to be admired and emulated and modeled, skin tone and body type, just as much as the character’s behaviors.
So as much as the kid in me that grew up in a different era wants to like them, the adult in me that lives in the now is telling me to pass on them, after careful consideration.
@Push Yes, and ffs, “Super White” isn’t a message I want to send by giving this to a child as something to admire and emulate, skin tone and body image too. Which is the point of the proximity bias in subconsciously doing so when we model desired societal views through the “toys” we give our kids.
P.S. With your total of 5 posts in 7 years of Mehtizenry, I am honored to have recieved one of them.
@mike808 I was mostly referring to the body image. maybe im an idiot, but i dont see how you can emulate a skin tone. then again, people bleach their skin, while others pay small fortunes to fake tan theirs as well, so i suppose it does happen. I just dont see the harm, personally, in a fictional superhero regardless of their race. Would you feel the same way about blank panther, blade, or luke cage statues? Or is it only pale superheroes that are unnacceptable to pass on to younger generations?
@Push It is the association of white people with “hero” attributes and POC with “villain” attributes. That’s the subconscious bias of association through adjacency.
The hero wears white and the villain wears black.
Skinny = happy, rich, energetic, successful.
Fat = sad, poor, lazy, failures.
It is pervasive in the marketing imagery we are bombarded with constantly.
@mike808@Push Why does everyone see super white and super muscular. It’s Superman. He has been around almost 100 years. Everyone knows what he looks like. The fact the first thing that comes to mind is weird. The fact that it enters your mind is weird. You not wanting a white super hero seems racist.what if a white parent didn’t want their child to have a super ripped Luke cage,falcon,war machine,John Stewart,spawn or steel. Don’t forget miles morales. Those are just the male heroes I could rattle off quickly. My children have never asked about skin color and we don’t talk about it. I would be happy to,but they currently see nothing different about their friends that have different skin tones. They will continue not to,until people like you tell them they should base decisions on skin color. My son loves miles morales. He gets dressed up like him and thinks he is the best Superman (I agree). My son happens to be white. Not once has skin tone come up. Morgan freeman said in a interview the way to end racism is to stop talking about it
@bram1216 I mean that was kinda my point. I get underrepresentation and all that. But the solution to that is not by eliminating characters that already exist. Can there be an alternate storyline/universe where superman is black, overweight, and missing 3 toes to diabetes? Absolutely, but that shouldnt invalidate, or make improper this superman.
@The_Tim Metallo probably blew it up with a missile or something and he’s catching it before it crushes anyone. That kind of thing happens like twice a week in Metropolis.

I marvel at this offering.
@yakkoTDI indeed
@yakkoTDI Wrong universe. No worries, that’s a DC mistake to make.
Is there some meaning behind the interior of the globe?
@haydesigner What do you mean? All I see are some supports that allow the structure of the Daily Planet globe sign to retain its shape.
@haydesigner ohhh… I see now. It’s probably a true-to-life recreation of the motor that allows the Daily Planet sign to rotate.
I wonder why you couldn’t have shaved 55¢ off the price? That would have been super.
@fuzzmanmatt… took me a second
@fuzzmanmatt Speaking of shaved, WW is looking well groomed!
/giphy why
The best thing about these is that they’re too big to go up your arse if you accidentally sit on one.
@OnionSoup LOL! That’s dirty
@OnionSoup @robson No, it’s safe and hygienic. That’s the point.
@OnionSoup Are you sure?
@OnionSoup Well…Almost!
@OnionSoup And here I was thinking it was the WORST thing about them.
Is that a music box inside the globe?
At least they didn’t skimp on WWs nice ass.
@eq52515 Ok Joss Whedon.
@eq52515

@eq52515 And Irk is staring at the camel toad
@bmf @eq52515

@bmf @eq52515
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c
You’re reading too deep into things.
@bmf @eq52515 @mike808
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c I know; think they sexed her up enough? Geez.
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c @lisagd
To be fair, it’s not like they didn’t sex up Superman enough either.
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c @mike808 Maybe, but he’s not showing any skin. Where’s the fun in that?
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c @lisagd @mike808 To be fair…that’s also true.
/giphy to-be-fair
@bmf @eq52515 @er1c @lisagd @mike808 Actually, he appears to be mostly wearing blue body paint
Could I prepare one in yesterday’s Meh item?
/giphy roomba pls
@mediocrebot That’s a lot of pissed ants.

@Fuzzalini @OnionSoup

/giphy cricket noises
OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
@IndifferentDude And they’re sold in a bunch of places so not all 1500 will be available here.
/giphy jumpy-radiant-pan
This would be an amazing IRK item. Congrats to the DC fans with money.
/giphy one billion dollars
/giphy official-knobby-templar
Awesome, now this image is going to be living in my head rent free for a while, begrudgingly. Looks like Irk needs some visine.
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
@er1c Or he just need to stop staring at the camel toad
@bmf
he is so clearly looking directly at us.
@er1c Why does Irk have pink eye? Did he touch a doorknob someone else infected.
@rtjhnstn that’s what I’m saying! seems especially unlikely with all the precautions everyone is taking, but things happen I guess.
/giphy eye drops
@rtjhnstn for sure.
@er1c God dammit, the word is grudgingly. I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!
Does the Coke come with?
Is that a Linda Carter Wonder Woman?
It looks like her in the face…
1/6th scale? Does that make them full size on the moon?
His? Trust me, I’m a healthcare professional. That’s not a he.
@cinoclav DID YOU JUST ASSUME WONDER WOMAN’S GENDER?! apoplexy
@cinoclav @steamwolf
DID YOU JUST ASSUME THE GENDER OF THE OWNER OF THE TEMPLE RUINS?
Maybe the temple belongs to a man. Maybe it is Superman’s temple.
Nothing there provides context to the ownership of the temple ruins on which she stands, nor to the gender of the owner of said temple ruins.
@mike808
in which case the pronoun is ‘orphaned’ of it’s antecedent.
@chienfou Look at you, Mr. Grammar McGrammarPants!
Yes, additional context is critical for dispositive antecedent resolution.
@mike808

@chienfou
Oh my, been a while since I spent real money on meh, if these becomes your next bluetooth speakers I might be in trouble.
/giphy chipper-outgoing-pie
Wrong mother ship, but I’d take a 1/6 Spiderman for $20. I want one to face-plant on my truck grill, with a little web running up the hood…
@mrdancer
Oh… I like your thinking on that one…
These are amazing! Outside of my budget but … WOW!
Hey @tinamarie1974… so???
@Kidsandliz nah, too expensive
@tinamarie1974 That is certainly true. Not an impulse purchase either.
I lingered a little too long on this picture and now feel like a creep. Thanks Meh.
@ACraigL
I have some action figures on my shelves, but I can’t think of a superhero that I love enough to want a two-foot statue of them in my apartment.
@Citymars You and the rest of the world. That’s why they’re on Meh.
I’d love a 1/6 scale figure of Ant-Man, but I’d probably accidentally inhale it.
Wonder Woman’s statue is a little misogynistic doncha think? I mean, why not make it fair and enhance Superman’s bulge as well for the ladies? Maybe with some vein or head contours? Just making suggestions for the “art”.
@aolshove My first though was she must do a lot of waxing.
@aolshove I was looking for a super-bulge myself, but sadly this Superman statue did not meet my expectations.
@aolshove
@aolshove
@aolshove Why don’t you go learn to sculpt so you can make a Superman statue with a veiny bulge if that’s what you want to see?
It would be more constructive than calling things misogynistic on the internet, you’d be learning a new skill, and you’d actually be doing something of value to somebody.
@steamwolf Proud boy triggered. Come join us in the real world after your proud boys membership expires. lol!
@aolshove
@steamwolf - You sound a little over-sensitive…why shouldn’t the male statue get sexed-up too?
In the interests of fairness.

/giphy whoosh

Who else is here for the lively discussion about “big tumescent Superman dicks”?
And yeah, I’m going to go there…
/giphy big tumescent Superman dicks
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @mike808 @steamwolf I thought this whole thread was jokes and was slightly disappointed.
@Kidsandliz @Limewater @mike808 @steamwolf Surely you jest …
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @Limewater @steamwolf
At least that Jesture was in the same vein.
@aolshove @Kyeh @steamwolf real heroes don’t need clothes…
I am 100% on board with this! Can we start with breasts, and then quickly transtion to ass… like creeping right up there thank you
No Shazam? (The REAL Captain Marvel)
Pass.
This does look like a really good deal though.
Funny. These resemble the Hollywood Boulevard versions of these characters the most:
Wow, Wonder Woman is listed for $350 on eBay . . . $350 for a damaged Superman . . . and $550 for a undamaged Superman!!!
@doug19 Yeah but are they selling? I’d think maybe not (haven’t gone to look) since they landed here.

OK but why did Superman rip the globe off the Daily Planet? Seems like a weird thing for a hero to do.
@The_Tim It just fell apart. Shitty construction by the low bidder. Good old American “can do” capitalism at work!
