The main unit with the holes in it is a zigbee hub. Haven’t found a datasheet, but perhaps the sensors attaching are zigbee as well. It may be a decent deal on a bunch of (unknown quality) zigbee sensors?
@OhHaiThere I’m trying to dig up this dirt too. Of course the item description seems to say the sensors are bluetooth. But then why would the hub have a zigbee radio? Lmk if you find anything else.
@OhHaiThere or anyone else on this journey - Picked one of these up on SideDeal because I’m a sucker. There is no indication that there is anything to do with Zigbee in this specific hub - there may be a separate kit available in which it is a Zigbee hub and sensors.
This is a Tuya based kit, so I brought in the siren and all the sensors through Tuya’s app. They’re surprisingly responsive I’ll say. They did actually pull over into Home Assistant through Tuya though they are unsupported and don’t show any movement, temp, or door events. I also was not able to see the sensors “pop up” in my integrations page when I put them in pairing mode as I have heard will happen with supported Bluetooth devices. I’m new to HA and only did a cursory try to get them into HA so may try further, but would write something up on the HA community if I did. I suspect the sensors may communicate in a proprietary way with the siren/hub but maybe there is a BT integration that can work it out. Cheers
I’ve never seen a point in alarm kits like these. If someone breaks in to burgle me, it’s going to be when I’m not home so the alarm won’t matter. If someone breaks in when I am home it’s to harm me instead of burgle me, so the intruder will have no reason to care that an alarm went off.
@brennyn I have to disagree. Some of these alarms are quite loud and scary. The sound alone could frighten someone into thinking police will be coming quickly and make them abort. Fingers crossed.
@brennyn it works best with some cameras pointed at your doors/windows. The cameras upload short clips to a web server and store a local copy on a memory card. So the siren draws attention to an area away from the cameras and also often spooks crooks into moving quickly and making mistakes.
So it is more a thing to cause a crook to screw up and leave evidence, and also so they bail out quickly and maybe steal less.
Plus, they are great for folks in condo buildings where there are lots of neighbors to notice a blaring alarm siren and complain to police or HOA.
@laurengx3 One of my neighbors has a proper security system that will contact law enforcement. When her angry ex-husband kicked her front door in, it took 48 hours for the police to show up.
@brennyn@laurengx3 Yup, accidentally set off my alarm a while back and thought I had reset it in time, but missed the calls from the alarm center. An hour later an officer pulls up the driveway to check on the situation and ultimately I get fined for not calling them in time to cancel. This was in a large suburb not the boonies, so don’t count on the government to stop any crime as the perps will be long gone by the time they get there. I consider the alarm as an early warning to get the freedom seed dispenser when I’m home or a reminder that I’m going to need to file an insurance claim when I get home.
@thismyusername Not only that but if the hub is the pictured item plugged into the wall turning off the power = no alarm. Surely wouldn’t wake you.
Just go to the shelter and get yourself a dog. Two problems solved.
@JvB@thismyusername Thanks for the call-out, and this is exactly right - we do not want to use SideDeal as a comp and will try to avoid that in the future.
@jjrogers41 Good choice. Hope there’s a bite to back that up. I like mine because it doesn’t require feeding or walking. My last dog (a golden retriever) would have let them in, take whatever,and then left with the burglar because car rides were her favorite thing to do. RIP my dear Roxie. you spoiled me for any other dog and I still miss you 26 years later.
@detailer@jjrogers41 I’d be up for a 2 fer Tuesday Spot sale in the near future. Might even spring for a targeting option with PS90 mount for 50 barks of criminal discouragement, despite the risk of a possible Skynet uprising.

No link to this deal thread from the main page after the bullet highlights.
@mike808
It’s there now

Keep it in the box next to your bed, and if someone breaks in, you have 5 things to throw at them (6 if you include the box). Good luck!
is the 5th piece the wan/spyware gateway?
I might buy this to put on my cold-frame to stop anyone stealing my slugs this winter.
@OnionSoup seems the right application
@OnionSoup What if the slugs set off the alarm?
@brennyn that would mean the alarm system works… so I’ll put it on the greenhouse instead to guard the snails.
@OnionSoup But what if the plants set off the alarm?
@mcanavino @OnionSoup Then you need time to escape.

@brennyn No reason to care at all… until the boulder rolls down the stairs.
@brennyn Some lead will help them care…and regret

@JvB A hand loaded 158gr SJHP perhaps?
@detailer Yup!..Just making a Point

Does this work with HomeKit??
@Hanky you’re assuming it works at all.
Does this work with Apple’s new curare-tipped iDarts?
Wait a second the siren is in the hub? So the hub, the piece that’s required for all to continue functioning, is yelling its position? Neat.
@thismyusername Not only that but if the hub is the pictured item plugged into the wall turning off the power = no alarm. Surely wouldn’t wake you.

The price comparison on Amazon is some company called side deal what an interesting company. I wonder what they’re about lol.
@thismyusername
@thismyusername Probably should have used the $69.99 price comparison from Eco4life instead

Buying for the margarita protection.
Is this hackable from outside of blue tooth range?
My home security system just makes one loud BANG.
@detailer mine makes a loud bark
