Echo Auto Review?
6So a few minutes ago I got a request from Amazon to review the Echo Auto.
So they’re finally opening the review floodgates on Echo Auto.
When it connects, it is solid and pretty handy but that hasn’t happened reliably to this point.
Glad I only paid $25 for this beta device. Hopefully the software will improve…

$50 now, but i bet it will be $35 or so on Black Friday.o
I’d be tempted if my car didn’t have “Android Auto”.
@craigthom Same here. Got that Ford Sync 3 or what-have-you with Android Auto. No need for Echo Auto now.
@craigthom @medz Is that something that goes into my tape player?
@therealjrn No, but you might be able to use the Echo Auto with one of these;

@medz Oh! I have one of those! I’m getting ready to get a
newnew-to-me Lincoln though. I’m moving up 2 years and 20,000 less miles. Only 15 more years to go!Oh good, yours wasn’t working either? Both the device doesn’t work and then the buttons in the app wouldn’t recognize taps. Double Fail
Amazon Auto has lost it’s connection. When safe to do so, please open the Alexa App to reconnect
I open the app every time I leave. Alexa makes me click a button saying I’m not driving.
My Amazon Auto works fine. The biggest problem is awkwardness. On short around trips. It take effort to connect. By the time you do, you are shutting your car off. Then start all over again. Too inconvenient.
@deg7917 This sums it up pretty well. Plus I often drive through a neighborhood that is trying to stop new cell towers because they think they’ll get brain cancer.
I got it too after being on the wait list, but I haven’t connected it yet. I have Carplay so maybe I will not have a use for this after all.
Or you could just drive, maybe have a conversation on the way, focus on traffic, you know, basic stuff. Just sayin…
I’ve been pretty happy with mine (took forever to get it off the wait list). It’s great to get my flash briefing/news on the way to work and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of the drop in feature to direct connect to the echo in my kitchen. I can remind my young kids (not even close to phone age) of things like putting their library books in their book bag, wear a coat, it’s cold etc; or to connect with my wife on my drive home as she, between cooking and getting the kids fed, often does not have her phone handy. It also works well with audible and podcasts once you set them up on the app with the appropriate skills. As with any Bezos gadget, I’d wait for Black Friday or prime day
