EasyCap on tablet for FPV monitor

0

I finally got around to trying my EasyCap USB video cap device.

I installed the included drivers and monitor/DVR software on my Toshiba Encore tablet running Windows 8.1. Then I connected the EasyCap to a USB port on the Encore, and connected the CVBS output from my Devo F12e TX to the EasyCap.

I was able to see the FPV image transmitted from my iLook+ on the F12e video screen and also on the Toshiba tablet. I was also able to record everything displayed on the Toshiba with the DVR app that came with the EasyCap.

Quality was fine. Frame rate was adequate. My only complaint would be that the telemetry data displayed on the F12e screen is not multiplexed in the CVBS output signal.

I read quite a bit of info about this same configuration working on Android tablets, so that'll be my next step. I'd love to be able to use a cheap 7 or 8 inch android tablet for FPV versus a dedicated FPV monitor because it adds the advantage of being able to run Ground Station software for pre-flight mission planning.
