I mean, I'd happily drink this. Is there a general liquor I can substitute for Slivovitz? I don't think they sell that many places around here. Also, does it still count if I use kumquats instead of dates?
@Pantheist I don't know where you live, but I have bought a bottle of Slivovitz in Trader Joe's (in CA-have no idea if they sell it by me here in IL, although they do have hard liquor now). It may be somewhere you would never think to look!
Actually this one doesn't appear to be that bad, comparatively - just (very) fruity. I may get that button yet . . .

Use any old brandy and prunes instead of slivovitz and dates
